Chapter 79: Temporary Stability
Su Jinshi’s hands trembled uncontrollably as she tried to click on the store, missing the icon twice and failing to open it.
Frustrated to the point of tears, Su Jinshi cried out, “Ugh, this is so annoying!”
Finally, she managed to open the store and quickly purchased some hemostatic medicine. She applied it directly to Shen Shilang’s wound, though no one else could see her actions.
Su Jinshi didn’t hesitate, smearing a large handful of the medicinal powder onto Shen Shilang’s injury. The arrow still lodged in his left chest had not been removed, and no one dared to pull it out.
Wei Zhaoxian’s eyes were bulging with rage as he shouted, “Guan Changping, find that person for me!”
“Yes, sir!” Guan Changping had already sprung into action, moving swiftly in the direction the arrows had come from.
Despite being well-hidden in the crowd, those nearby had noticed the second archer. They had already surrounded him. Just as the man was about to drive an arrow into his own neck, Guan Changping shot the arrow from his hand.
“Capture him! Don’t let him kill himself!” Guan Changping roared. He dislocated the man’s jaw, thoroughly searched him to ensure he had no other weapons, and had him bound. The first attacker had already been subdued and knocked unconscious.
“Back to camp, quickly!” Wei Zhaoxian ordered.
Wei Jianlang gently lifted Shen Shilang and placed him on a horse. “Father, I’ll ride ahead to get Shilang back to camp.”
“Good,” Wei Zhaoxian nodded.
Su Jinshi followed closely. The system kept alerting her that Shen Shilang’s vital signs were still declining, though at a much slower rate than before. She rummaged through the store again, unsure of what specific medicines Shen Shilang needed but purchasing anti-inflammatory and pain relief drugs based on her limited knowledge. Though the store only had basic options, she bought everything she could.
While monitoring Shen Shilang’s condition, Su Jinshi also searched online for appropriate treatments.
“Alcohol! Yes, we need alcohol!” Su Jinshi hurried to buy alcohol from the store, realizing it was crucial for disinfecting the wound, both for cleaning and when removing the arrow. She couldn’t believe she had forgotten something so basic.
As Wei Jianlang raced back to the camp, he murmured prayers under his breath: “Please, don’t let anything happen to Shilang. Heavens, I beg you, spare him. The Shen family has already suffered enough; you can’t let their last descendant die too!”
Upon reaching the camp, Wei Jianlang shouted, “Military doctor! Bring the military doctor to my tent immediately!”
“Zhou Cheng!” After calling for the military doctor, Wei Jianlang yelled again.
“Young General!” Zhou Cheng rushed over, his face turning pale at the sight of the blood-soaked Shen Shilang. “Young Master Shen, he…”
“Ride to the city and summon every renowned physician you can find!” Wei Jianlang commanded. “Tell them to bring all the medicines they have. I want every medicine listed in their prescriptions to be readily available when they write them!”
“Yes, sir!” Fearing he might not be quick enough on his own, Zhou Cheng called for a few others to accompany him into the city to gather the doctors.
The military doctor was already in Wei Jianlang’s tent. Wei Jianlang carefully laid Shen Shilang face-down on the bed. “I haven’t pulled out the arrow, but I cut it off from the front.”
Otherwise, Shen Shilang wouldn’t have been able to lie down.
In this aspect, Wei Jianglang had some experience.
The military doctor applied hemostatic powder and examined the wound. “The injury is in the left chest, very dangerous. But given his current condition, it seems his heart wasn’t directly struck.”
If the heart had been hit, Shen Shilang wouldn’t have been alive.
“Even so, it’s likely very close to the heart,” the military doctor said gravely. “The arrow must be removed, but the consequences are uncertain. For now, we need to prevent further blood loss.”
Wei Jianlang’s voice trembled as he spoke. “Will it help if we apply the hemostatic powder thickly? Use as much as we have. Also, brew some medicine for him to drink, we can’t worry about side effects right now. Saving his life is the priority.”
As Wei Zhaoxian entered the tent, the military doctor said, “If the medicine works well, we won’t need to use excessive amounts. It depends on how much blood he’s losing.” The military doctor looked down and stated, “The arrow must be removed quickly; any delay will only make things worse.”
Though Wei Jianlang feared that removing the arrow might worsen Shen Shilang’s condition, he knew they couldn’t postpone it. For a moment, he felt utterly lost.
Wei Zhaoxian, his eyes bloodshot and hand gripping Shen Shilang’s tightly, ordered, “Do it.”
Su Jinshi had been preparing all along.
While they were distracted, Su Jinshi discreetly slipped her hand under Shen Shilang’s blood-soaked clothes and used alcohol to disinfect his wound. Since the clothing was already thoroughly stained, no one noticed the wound had been cleaned.
As the military doctor pulled out the arrow, Su Jinshi immediately applied more hemostatic powder and secretly gave Shen Shilang an anti-inflammatory pill.
The medicine she bought from the store had always been effective.
She thought it might work better than the military doctor’s medicine. For some reason, the store’s medicine truly had miraculous effects.
Shortly after applying it, the powder began dissolving.
Although blood was still flowing from Shen Shilang’s wound, the amount had noticeably decreased.
Without noticing anything unusual, the military doctor carefully cut open Shen Shilang’s clothes, wiped away the freshly flowing blood, and exclaimed in surprise, “Hmm, it seems Lord Shen’s condition is much better than expected. His injury isn’t as severe as I feared.”
After applying more hemostatic powder and bandaging the wound, the military doctor stated, “Given the current situation, the bleeding should stop soon. I’ll go prepare some medicine.”
Both Wei Zhaoxian and Wei Jianlang sighed in relief, as if a great weight had been lifted from their shoulders.
Guan Changping called from outside the tent, “General, General Quan requests your presence along with the Young General in his tent.”
Though Wei Zhaoxian and Wei Jianlang wanted to stay with Shen Shilang, they reluctantly agreed. “Changping, watch over him. Report to us immediately if anything changes.”
“Yes, General,” Guan Changping entered the tent to keep watch over Shen Shilang.
Though still unconscious, the red warning on Su Jinshi’s phone had stopped flashing, indicating Shen Shilang’s condition had stabilized for now. Su Jinshi let out a deep, relieved sigh.
[System: Shen Shilang’s vital signs have been temporarily stabilized. XP +]
