After filming the video as required, the live camera once again focused on the two.
At this point, Ji Chengyi and Lin Jindu had already taken off the fluffy headbands, leaving no trace for the audience.
The barrage instantly filled with mournful cries.
But Ji Chengyi was solely concerned about one thing, “Can you give us the serum now?”
“Of course, here you go!” Cheng Song cooperatively took out a rectangular box from his pocket and handed it to Ji Chengyi, “Here, Mr. Ji, this is the serum you need for the task.”
Ji Chengyi accepted it.
Once Lin Jindu had regained his composure, he also inquired, “Does this mean we have completed the task?”
Cheng Song nodded, “Yes, congratulations to both of you for successfully completing the task. I will announce the task duration once the other groups finish, and now you are free to move around.”
Lin Jindu looked at Ji Chengyi, silently asking him where he wanted to go.
Ji Chengyi felt like he hadn’t had enough fun yet but hesitated to say so. He was about to suggest they take a break when Lin Jindu preempted him by asking Cheng Song, “Have you hidden the main storyline of this escape room?”
Although Lin Jindu had never played an escape room game, he was aware that they were mostly about exploration and unraveling mysteries.
However, since they were currently filming a variety show, the task difficulty and conditions had been adjusted to suit the show’s format.
Since Ji Chengyi still wanted to play more, why not have another go in a real escape room?
Unexpectedly, Cheng Song was caught off guard by Lin Jindu’s question and hesitated before nodding, “Ah, yes, the exploration of the main storyline would take a considerable amount of time and wouldn’t fit the nature of our show, so the production team redesigned the escape room a bit.”
Lin Jindu asked, “Can it be restored? I’d like to experience a real escape room.”
【Mr. Lin, you’re amazing! You also see that Mr. Ji enjoys playing this, right!】
【Exactly! He loves it! The carousel just now and now this!】
【Love After Marriage! Love After Marriage!!】
Not only did the barrage pick up on it, but Ji Chengyi also belatedly realized what Lin Jindu meant.
He couldn’t help but stare at him.
Cheng Song, seeing through Lin Jindu’s intentions, smiled as if he had hit the nail on the head, “I’m sorry, Mr. Lin, I’m not sure about that, I’ll have to ask the director.”
Lin Jindu simply responded with an “Okay, then ask.”
Cheng Song went to inquire and returned with the answer that it was possible.
Ji Chengyi was just about to feel happy when Cheng Song added, “However, this script is a confrontational type, so if you want to follow the real script, you’ll have to lead separate teams and compete to see who can get the serum first.”
Leading separate teams meant that the two would be split into different factions.
It also meant that the guns they had used to protect each other earlier would now be aimed at each other.
But compared to the script they had just followed, Ji Chengyi, being a competitive person, was more willing to rely on individual skills to engage in a battle.
“I’m fine with it, Mr. Lin, how about you?” Ji Chengyi looked at Lin Jindu.
Lin Jindu lowered his gaze to Ji Chengyi’s bright eyes and suddenly felt a strong desire to conquer him.
He wanted to win.
To win and make him cry…
As this twisted thought crossed his mind, Lin Jindu was momentarily speechless.
Quickly suppressing the thought, Lin Jindu calmly responded, “I’m also fine with it.”
As they had to lead separate teams, the two untied the tether attached to their wrists and agreed to bear the consequences individually.
With their assurance, Cheng Song happily called four teammates with high IQs for each of the CEOs.
The game began.
Ji Chengyi led his team from the medical room they were in before, while Lin Jindu led his team from the parking lot.
Without the embellishments of the variety show script, the difficulty level of the game instantly soared.
The relentless horde of ‘zombies’ was not the only challenge; each problem they encountered required serious brainpower.
【What is going on here???】
【Why are there latitude and longitude coordinates???】
【Honey, stay safe! Take your time and be cautious! Mr. Lin seems to be progressing at a similar pace on his end!】
Although Ji Chengyi’s physical reactions were not as agile as Lin Jindu’s, who was more adept at sports.
Due to his meticulous thinking and clear logic, Lin Jindu excelled in solving puzzles and analyzing clues, surpassing Ji Chengyi in this aspect. This meant that even when the distance between their teams widened at times, they could quickly catch up with each other.
At one point, the audience in the live stream couldn’t determine who would emerge victorious in the end.
As the instance approached its end, Ji Chengyi’s team crossed through the morgue and arrived at the looted mall. The clue indicated that the serum was hidden in one of the lockers in the mall.
Ji Chengyi had already deciphered the number and password of the locker where the serum was hidden and was ready to retrieve it. However, as his gaze locked onto locker number thirteen, a gunshot rang out!
Turning to look, Ji Chengyi saw Lin Jindu and three teammates approaching from the other side door.
The two teams engaged in a struggle in front of the storage lockers, fighting to grab the serum.
In the end, Ji Chengyi shot Lin Jindu, securing the serum and claiming victory.
Despite his defeat, Lin Jindu showed no signs of disappointment. Instead, he walked over with a faint smile, “Congratulations, Mr. Ji, you won.”
Ji Chengyi, with eyes curved in a smile, responded, “Mr. Lin, you’re very gracious in defeat.”
Seeing Ji Chengyi so joyous, Lin Jindu knew that only now had Ji Chengyi truly enjoyed himself.
He smiled along, “No, it’s just that my abilities are not on par with Mr. Ji.”
【??? Did I misread something? Wasn’t Mr. Lin supposed to have a resurrection card in the morgue?】
【You didn’t misread! This guy intentionally let his wife win without using the resurrection card!】
【And he could have avoided it just now! But he didn’t dodge it, folks!!】
【Sob sob sob, okay, okay, I really respect this guy for having a wife!】
The other three groups of guests had already returned to the car after completing their tasks. Therefore, once Ji Chengyi and Lin Jindu emerged from the escape room, they headed straight back to the car.
Yao Tong, in the car, was indulging in the snacks he had just bought. Upon seeing Ji Chengyi return, he greeted, “Mr. Ji, why have you just returned?”
Ji Chengyi had never felt this relaxed before, so much so that he had already returned to the car. His eyes sparkled with a radiant smile as he spoke, “Apologies for keeping you all waiting. Mr. Lin and I played the escape room again.”
“Not long of a wait, we’ve just returned with Shao Wenlun,” Yao Tong handed over two small bread rolls, saying, “Mr. Ji, are you hungry? Have a snack to fill your stomach.”
Ji Chengyi wasn’t hungry at the moment and politely declined, “Thank you, but I’m not hungry. You can keep them for yourselves.”
Yao Tong didn’t insist and put the bread rolls back in the bag.
Yu Heyan, who was leaning back in his seat, heard Ji Chengyi’s cheerful voice and opened his eyes to look over. However, his expression involuntarily turned lonely at that moment.
He then furrowed his brows and glanced at Lin Jindu behind Ji Chengyi, as if regretting that it wasn’t him who brought such happiness to Ji Chengyi, but the other person.
Lin Jindu noticed his gaze and met his eyes. They locked gazes for a moment before Yu Heyan looked away first.
Lin Jindu didn’t pay him any more attention and took his seat next to Ji Chengyi.
With everyone on board, the driver started the car back to the cabin.
Compared to the lively atmosphere on the way there, the journey back was much quieter. Ye Fei and Chi Xingwen had already dozed off.
Ji Chengyi, who had been resting with his eyes closed on the way there, was now quite interested in admiring the scenery outside.
Lin Jindu gazed at Ji Chengyi for a while, wanting to ask him why he was so happy. However, in the end, he couldn’t bear to disturb his joyful mood and crossed his arms, closing his eyes as if to feign sleep.
As he was about to drift off, Lin Jindu felt a tug on his sleeve.
Opening his eyes slowly, the first thing he saw was the warm-hued eyes of Ji Chengyi.
“Mr. Lin, there’s a sunset outside,” a soft voice drifted into Lin Jindu’s ears.
Feeling a slight itch in his ears as if a cat’s tail had brushed against them, Lin Jindu couldn’t help but scratch them.
He guessed that Ji Chengyi was calling him to share the sunset outside with him. However, he didn’t see anything particularly special about sunsets. Instead, he found Ji Chengyi’s eyes at that moment to be more beautiful than any sunset he had ever seen. Nevertheless, he sat up and asked, “Where?”
Ji Chengyi turned and pointed, “Over there.”
Following his gaze, Lin Jindu indeed spotted an orange sunset over the sea.
“I see it,” he said, “It’s beautiful.”
His words weren’t just perfunctory, but lacked a genuine sincerity.
Feeling that Lin Jindu didn’t really appreciate the sunset, Ji Chengyi apologized, “Sorry for disturbing your rest, Mr. Lin.”
Lin Jindu looked into his eyes and said earnestly, “You didn’t disturb me, I mean it, it’s really beautiful.”
This time, his tone was more sincere.
But instead of continuing the conversation, Ji Chengyi thanked him, leaving Lin Jindu puzzled.
Ji Chengyi clarified, “Mr. Lin, you have a resurrection card, right.”
He didn’t pose it as a question but stated it confidently.
Caught off guard, Lin Jindu paused for a moment, then smiled, “You really can’t hide anything from Mr. Ji.”
Ji Chengyi also smiled, “Because I have one too.”
Lin Jindu remained silent, quietly watching him.
He didn’t like indulging in meaningless hypotheticals, but at that moment, he suddenly wanted to ask, “What if my gun had hit Mr. Ji first? Would Mr. Ji have used it?”
Ji Chengyi continued to smile, looking happier than ever before, “I don’t know, perhaps I would have used it because I prefer winning.”
No one likes to lose, especially not an investor like Lin Jindu. However, he felt fortunate that Ji Chengyi was the one who emerged victorious.
“Okay,” he said, “Mr. Ji won.”
Ji Chengyi’s expression turned serious, “In that case, thank you, Mr. Lin.”
Lin Jindu: “Um…you’re welcome?”
In the glow of the sunset, Ji Chengyi’s eyes crinkled with a smile, “Alright, you’re welcome.”
【His wife looks so beautiful! This shot is perfect!】
【Sob sob, I’m truly touched! Mr. Ji knows! He knows Mr. Lin had a resurrection card and didn’t use it!】
【This isn’t just a high-class marriage, it’s a mutual pursuit!!!】
【Help! These two lines give me a feeling of familiarity, but they’re so sweet, who knows!!!】
…….
By the time they arrived at the cabin, it was already dark outside.
Chi Xingwen had slept all the way back and, in a daze, as he got off the car, he even shouted, “Cheng Song, shouldn’t you be bringing us dinner now?”
Leading the way, Cheng Song waved his hand, “Dinner is ready. Let’s hurry to the restaurant, first come, first served!”
Having expended a lot of energy throughout the day, the guests were all exhausted. However, upon hearing about the food, they hurried to the restaurant without hesitation.
Ji Chengyi didn’t join the rush. He strolled leisurely behind the group and casually asked Lin Jindu, “Mr. Lin, where do you think we rank?”
Lin Jindu was about to answer but then changed his mind, “What do you think, Mr. Ji?”
Confidently, Ji Chengyi said, “I think we’re in first place.”
Seeing Ji Chengyi’s certainty, Lin Jindu felt an unexpected interest he had never experienced before, “I think we’re not in first place. Mr. Ji, care to bet?”
Ji Chengyi was surprised by Lin Jindu’s suggestion but still asked, “What are we betting on?”
After a moment of thought, Lin Jindu proposed, “Let’s bet on the bed.”
“The bed?” Ji Chengyi didn’t quite understand.
Lin Jindu chuckled and explained, “If you win, you continue sleeping on the bed; if I win, I get the bed.”
Ji Chengyi paused, then burst into laughter, momentarily not understanding how this bet benefited Lin Jindu. But since Lin Jindu had proposed it, he nodded in agreement, “Okay, let’s bet on the bed.”
