After the Capitalist Heiress Was Reborn, She Emptied the Family Fortune and Joined the Army Chapter 13

Chapter 13 – Hurry Up and Hand Over All That Property to Save Your Uncle’s Family!

Zhao Hui’s fury surged like wildfire. “My Xiao Yu’s surname is Sang. What kind of ‘cousin’ is she to that scumbag?”

Old Madam Tao’s eyes widened. “That damn girl’s biological father’s surname is Tao. Ronghua is her father’s nephew by blood. If they’re not cousins, what are they?”

“My second son never married into your Sang family!”

He had once angrily mentioned the idea of marrying into their family, and it had left her so furious she couldn’t get out of bed for three days!

Whether he actually did marry in the end, she wasn’t entirely sure.

All she knew was that the Cantonese restaurant was initially funded by the Sang family, while her second son had contributed labor and ideas. Every year, those two old farts from the Sang family earned a generous dividend. Meanwhile, she—the one who birthed and raised him—probably didn’t even get crumbs compared to them!

Sang Youde didn’t want to waste time arguing. He tightened his grip on Tao Ronghua and prepared to drag him off to the Revolutionary Committee!

Seeing they wouldn’t listen no matter what, Old Madam Tao lost it and pointed at them, cursing, “Then it should be that damn girl going to the Revolutionary Committee!”

“She’s the capitalist’s heiress!”

“And all her family’s wealth has been hidden by her. With everything she’s stashed away, she should be locked up for life!”

Shock flashed in Zhao Hui’s eyes. This woman isn’t worthy of being Xiao Yu’s grandmother!

Sang Youde was so enraged that he clenched his grip around Tao Ronghua’s neck, making him choke.

“Ah Hui, let’s go!”

“No point wasting words on someone like her.”

Old Madam Tao couldn’t let them leave, so she spread her arms wide, blocking their path. “If you dare take my grandson, I… I’ll kill myself right here!”

Sang Feiyu scoffed, utterly speechless.

“Go ahead, die wherever you want!”

Old Madam Tao shot her a venomous glare. “You’re the jinx!”

“If it weren’t for you, my second son would still be alive!”

“And now you’re trying to kill your uncle’s whole family too?!”

Slap!

Zhao Hui smacked Old Madam Tao so hard her mouth twisted to the side.

“Watch your filthy mouth!”

Old Madam Tao was past reasoning now. She screamed and lunged at Zhao Hui, clawing like a madwoman. “You old witch!”

“You dared to hit me?!”

“Looks like you’re tired of living!”

She raised her hands, aiming for Zhao Hui’s face. Even though they were about the same age, why did Zhao Hui still look a decade younger?

But before she could even touch a strand of Zhao Hui’s hair, Sang Feiyu darted forward and grabbed her arm.

Old Madam Tao’s face turned pitch-black. “Let go of me, you little brat!”

“I’m your real grandmother!”

“And you’re siding with outsiders now?!”

Sang Feiyu spoke with absolute certainty. “You’re the outsider!”

Zhao Hui gave her a reassuring glance, and only then did Sang Feiyu release her grip.

The two old women immediately started brawling, but other than her loud voice, Old Madam Tao had no advantage.

She’d thought that with her thirty years of street-fighting experience, dealing with Zhao Hui would be a walk in the park. She hadn’t expected this disaster of a scene.

Zhao Hui straddled her stomach and smacked her face from left to right. Old Madam Tao couldn’t even open her mouth to yell insults.

She seemed to have forgotten one important thing—Zhao Hui was a retired soldier who exercised every single day!

Forget about just Old Madam Tao—even a few more like her wouldn’t be a problem for Zhao Hui.

Old Master Tao, seeing his wife at a disadvantage, tried to step in, but Sang Youde shoved him aside.

“Let the women handle their own fight. What’s a grown man doing interfering?”

“Trying to embarrass yourself even more?”

Old Master Tao’s weathered face turned purple with shame.

At that moment, Tao Ronghua seized the opportunity to escape. But Sang Feiyu kicked him hard in the back of his knee. He cried out in pain and crawled a few feet before spotting a pair of brand-new liberation shoes in front of him.

A chill ran down his spine. He looked up with difficulty and met a sharp, piercing gaze. His shoulders trembled uncontrollably.

“Tao Ronghua, we received a report that you’re suspected of concealing a large amount of national property. Please come with us.”

But they didn’t mean for him to come willingly.

The moment the cold silver handcuffs snapped onto his wrists, Tao Ronghua went completely numb.

How did things turn out like this?!

Old Master Tao’s eyes darted back and forth before he suddenly shouted, “You’ve got the wrong guy!”

“My grandson is just a laborer! How could he possibly hide that much wealth?!”

Then he turned toward Sang Feiyu, pointing a trembling finger. “She’s the one hiding the fortune!”

“She’s the one you should arrest!”

Officer A-Feng glanced at Sang Feiyu, then back at Old Master Tao with growing irritation. “Stop interfering with our investigation. Want me to detain you too?”

Old Master Tao shrank back, but when he saw his grandson getting hauled away, he forced himself to speak again.

“She’s a capitalist heiress! Why aren’t you arresting her?”

Before he could say more, A-Feng rolled his eyes at him and escorted Tao Ronghua away.

Before they had even reached the end of the alley, a group of Red Armband Committee members came striding over. The one in front asked directly, “Is this Tao Ronghua?”

A-Feng felt something was off but still answered truthfully, “Yes.”

The Red Armband members’ eyes lit up. “He’s one of ours. Please hand him over.”

To them, this was a walking third-class merit—an opportunity for promotion and a raise. A-Feng wasn’t about to give him up so easily.

“He’s suspected of transferring and hiding national assets. We have to take him back for questioning.”

The Red Armbands thought: If you take him, how are we supposed to get a cut of the spoils?

So they blocked his path. “He’s coming with us today!”

“Our committee has plenty of ways to make him cough up the truth.”

“You guys at the police station can wait for our interrogation results.”

Tao Ronghua was utterly stunned. Never had he imagined he’d become such a “hot commodity” between the Revolutionary Committee and the Public Security Bureau.

To him, this was a complete nightmare!

What was even more unexpected was that these two groups were now fighting over him in broad daylight—each tugging one arm—he genuinely felt like he was about to be torn in half.

Zhao Hui and Old Madam Tao also stopped fighting and turned to stare at the tug-of-war over Tao Ronghua.

Old Madam Tao, seeing her precious grandson being pulled back and forth, panicked and rushed over.

“You’ve got the wrong person!”

“My Ronghua doesn’t know anything!”

She tried to reach out and grab him, but before her hand could touch him, two loud voices shouted from either side: “Back off!

Startled, Old Madam Tao quickly pulled her hand away. Tao Ronghua was on the verge of tears.

“Grandma, save me!”

Suddenly, Old Madam Tao had an idea. She spun around and ran up to Sang Feiyu, barking orders like a queen:

Hurry up and hand over all that property to save your uncle’s whole family!
