After the Capitalist Heiress Was Reborn, She Emptied the Family Fortune and Joined the Army Chapter 4

Chapter 4 – Trading That Wretched Girl for a Few Boat Tickets to Hong Kong Is Worth It

Sang Feiyu looked down disdainfully at the hand tightly clutching her ankle. Without a word, she kicked the person straight down the stairs.

Tao Ronggui tumbled down like a rubber ball. The staircase to the basement wasn’t very high, so at worst, he’d end up crippled.

Sang Feiyu didn’t spare Tao Ronggui a single glance and swiftly left.

She vanished into the darkness, dashing straight toward the deep mountains and forests.

That was where her parents had hidden their massive fortune.

Switching on a flashlight, Sang Feiyu entered a cave and walked for nearly half an hour before reaching her destination.

She navigated to a spot based on memory, reached out, and a stone door swung open.

She slipped inside quickly and closed the stone door from within.

Looking at the mountain of boxes before her, Sang Feiyu activated her space ability and stored everything!

There were:

  • 2 crates of yellow croaker
  • 3 crates of gold, silver, and jewelry
  • 4 crates of antique porcelain and ornaments
  • 3 crates of famous paintings and calligraphy
  • 6 crates of rare medicinal herbs
  • 1 crate of fine fabrics
  • 8 crates of vintage wine
  • 2 crates of cash…

After storing her parents’ inheritance, Sang Feiyu wasted no time heading to the black market.

Right now, she was still branded with the “daughter of a capitalist” label. If she were exiled for re-education, she had to be prepared with survival supplies.

So she stocked up:

  • 200 catties of rice
  • 100 catties of millet
  • 100 catties of flour
  • 50 catties of peanut oil
  • 20 chickens
  • 10 ducks
  • 50 catties of eggs
  • 20 catties of duck eggs
  • One side of pork, one side of beef, one side of lamb
  • 1 catty of salt
  • 50 catties each of brown sugar and white sugar
  • 200 catties of fresh vegetables (including lettuce, spinach, celery, scallions, cilantro, etc.)
  • 50 catties of sea shrimp, 50 of abalone, 50 of crab
  • 30 catties of shrimp paste, 30 of salted fish
  • 20 catties of dried shiitake mushrooms
  • 10 large watermelons
  • 20 catties of snow pears, 20 of apples, 10 of peaches…

With these, Sang Feiyu finally felt at ease.

She exited the black market and immediately rushed to the Revolutionary Committee.

“Help!”
“Someone’s trying to stop me from donating my parents’ inheritance to the state!”
“My family fully supports the reform movement—today I risk my life to report them!”

The committee staff quickly brought her inside.
“Comrade, tell us everything. Who are your parents? Who’s trying to stop you from contributing their inheritance to the country?”

Sang Feiyu wiped away her nonexistent tears and said, “My father was the founder of the Cantonese Cuisine Restaurant.”

The two staffers’ eyes lit up. That restaurant was among the top elite businesses in Canton. If things continued, that family would definitely be on the next purge list.

She went on, “They planned to donate all our property to the state, but before they could, my uncle’s family staged a car accident that killed them.”

“After settling my parents’ affairs, I was also planning to donate everything, but on my way to the committee, I was kidnapped and imprisoned by my uncle’s family.”

As she spoke, she rolled up her sleeves to reveal the bruises and wounds from the abuse.

The committee members frowned deeply. This girl had clearly suffered.

“My uncle’s family wants to seize national property. From what I know, they even plan to buy boat tickets and smuggle the wealth to Hong Kong—then fly to the US from there!”

The staff immediately asked, “Where is the property now?”

“It’s all been stolen by them.”

“Then how did you escape?”

Sang Feiyu blurted out, “My younger cousin rescued me.”

“Comrade, you must save him! If my uncle finds out he helped me escape, they’ll never spare him!”

One of the committee members slammed the table in anger.
“In our territory, they dare seize national property and imprison someone? Outrageous!”

“Brothers, come with me!”

Sang Feiyu followed them, determined to witness her uncle’s family fall into ruin with her own eyes.

At dawn, Uncle Tao and his wife, along with their two daughters, emerged from the chamber of commerce president’s home.

The two girls were flushed with embarrassment, and the couple’s faces were stiff and awkward.

Once they’d walked a bit farther, Aunt Liu Ying grumbled in a low voice, “President Liu should take a look in the mirror. How dare he say Jingjing and Yingying aren’t good-looking enough?”

Tao Jingjing and Tao Yingying felt deeply humiliated, tears welling up. It was beyond insulting!

Tao Jiaxing wore a dark expression. He knew the reason clearly.

His two daughters weren’t bad-looking—but they both had one obvious flaw: flat noses.

And the one to blame was Liu Ying—hers was flat too.

After a long silence, he said, “When we get home, clean up that wretched girl and send her to President Liu.”

No matter what they thought, even Liu Ying and the two girls had to admit one thing—Sang Feiyu was truly beautiful.

Especially her peach blossom eyes. Just a single glance could steal a man’s soul.

But…

Liu Ying hesitated. “She’s covered in injuries now. President Liu and your brother used to be close—what if he reports us to the authorities for abusing her?”

Tao Jiaxing’s eyes turned cold.
“He’s helped so many people get boat tickets to Hong Kong. If he dares report us, I’ll drag him down with us.”

“He’s not stupid enough to miss that.”

Only then did Liu Ying relax. “Trading that wretched girl for a few Hong Kong tickets isn’t a bad deal.”

Tao Jiaxing’s eyes gleamed with calculation as he smirked—though his smile didn’t reach his eyes.
“First use this threat to scare her into revealing where the inheritance is hidden. Then hand her over to President Liu.”

Liu Ying’s eyes lit up. “That’s killing two birds with one stone!”

Tao Jingjing and Tao Yingying were curious to see whether Sang Feiyu could actually charm President Liu.

Before the four even reached home, they spotted Tao Ronghua running toward them like a madman.

Tao Jiaxing’s face darkened. “Looks like I’ll need to pick a new heir. The eldest is too unreliable.”

He believed that no matter how serious the issue, one must remain calm.

That was the mark of someone who could achieve great things.

Liu Ying didn’t have his composure. She rushed up and asked anxiously, “Ronghua, what happened?”

Panting heavily, Tao Ronghua gasped, “Mom! Our house has been emptied!”

What?!

In that instant, all four of their faces changed. Their eyes bulged like copper bells.

Tao Jiaxing was the first to rush home. When he saw the empty living room, his vision went black, and he almost fainted.

Liu Ying had to be supported by Tao Jingjing. She walked around the first floor in disbelief. The shock hit her like a bolt of lightning—her eyes rolled back, and she collapsed.

“Mom!”

Everyone rushed to revive her with acupressure. Liu Ying jolted awake from the pain.
“Quick, check the basement—see if that little bitch is still down there!”
