After the Capitalist Heiress Was Reborn, She Emptied the Family Fortune and Joined the Army Chapter 9

Chapter 9 – Grandpa and Grandma Tao Arrive in Yangcheng

The screams of Liu Ying and her daughters were loud and incessant—more grating than the sound of pigs being slaughtered.

A Red Armband member frowned and walked out. “Stuff their mouths with dirty socks. I don’t want to hear a single sound from them!”

Liu Ying was so frightened that her teeth chattered uncontrollably.

Tao Jingjing was even worse—her mind went completely blank, and she fainted from fear.

Among them, Tao Yingying was the calmest. She deliberately tugged her collar low to reveal her ample cleavage, hoping to seduce someone—but all she got in return was a flying kick. With a thud, she fell to the ground.

“You dare act like a slut in front of us? Imagine how you behave outside.”

Liu Ying screamed in terror, “Yingying!”

The Red Armband man sneered, “She should be called Cheap-cheap, because she’s cheap through and through.”

Lying on the ground, Tao Yingying felt like her head had been split open—it throbbed with excruciating pain.

These people didn’t play by any rules.

Or… was she really not as pretty as she thought?

Tao Yingying fell into a spiral of self-doubt.

Sang Feiyu had known she’d eventually have to face her biased grandparents, but she hadn’t expected it to happen so soon.

Her uncle’s family had only been taken away yesterday, and yet her grandparents had rushed to Yangcheng by today.

Clearly, Tao Ronghua had tipped them off.

Unfortunately for them, they were staying in the same guesthouse as Sang Feiyu. When she was heading downstairs to find something to eat, she ran right into them.

Old Madam Tao sprang forward like an arrow—nothing like a fragile elderly woman in her seventies!

She swung her hand and landed a hard slap on Sang Feiyu while shouting non-stop.

“You jinx!”

“You killed your parents and now you’re going after your uncle’s family too, aren’t you?”

“I should’ve strangled you to death back then!”

If it weren’t for the hotel receptionist nearby, Sang Feiyu would’ve kicked that old hag across the room.

But she remembered she had to maintain her persona, so she rolled her eyes back and collapsed to the floor in a faint.

The receptionist couldn’t stand it anymore and shouted, “Someone’s been knocked unconscious!”

Old Madam Tao didn’t believe Sang Feiyu could pass out from just a few slaps. To prove her point, she even kicked her once. “See? She’s faking it!”

The receptionist pulled her away and looked down—only to see bruises on Sang Feiyu’s wrists.

And her ankles too!

Compelled by some instinct, she lifted Sang Feiyu’s sleeve and was shocked to see the horrifying wounds underneath.

Even Old Madam Tao, who had still been cursing moments ago, instantly fell silent.

Old Master Tao muttered, “This must be makeup, right?”

If it wasn’t fake, he really couldn’t imagine why a wealthy girl would be in such a state.

The receptionist shot them a scathing glare. “If it’s fake, why don’t you try painting wounds like that?”

With the skin torn and bleeding, even a blind person wouldn’t believe it was makeup.

Only then did Old Madam Tao realize—this little brat had actually fainted for real?

What was with all these injuries?

Before she could think further, the receptionist walked over to the phone and dialed a number. “I’m calling the police!”

The guesthouse had the police station’s number on file, as they often needed to verify information.

Old Madam Tao panicked and tried to stop her, but it was too late!

“Someone’s been knocked out at the guesthouse!”

“This is serious. Please send officers right away!”

Beep, beep, beep…

Clearly, someone was trying to stop the receptionist from finishing her report.

The police responded quickly and arrived at the scene in less than three minutes.

Sang Feiyu lay motionless, carefully maintaining her facial expression so no one would realize she was faking.

Old Madam Tao kept trying to explain, “I didn’t hit her!”

“I just scolded her a bit—how was I supposed to know she’d faint like that?”

The receptionist loudly retorted, “I saw you hit her and even kick her once.”

“Officer, that girl is covered in injuries. You need to investigate this properly!”

And just like that, Old Madam Tao and Old Master Tao—who had just arrived in Yangcheng—were taken away by the police.

They didn’t even get a chance to see their beloved grandson.

Meanwhile, Sang Feiyu was sent to the hospital.

The doctor told the police, “This young lady has clearly suffered abuse—her body is covered in injuries.”

After hearing this, one of the officers was just about to head back to the station to interrogate the old couple when he spotted a familiar face.

It was the older brother Sang Feiyu had met previously.

He had gone to fetch water for his father and happened to see the police carrying Sang Feiyu into the treatment room. Worried, he waited outside.

“Cousin, what are you doing here?”

“My dad’s in the hospital.”

He then changed the topic, “But that’s not important right now. Ah Feng, can I ask—what happened to that girl? Why is she in the hospital?”

“You know her?”

“Yes.”

The older brother explained everything that had happened yesterday in full detail.

The officer then filled him in on what had happened today. “She was beaten unconscious by her grandparents.”

“They even tried to stop the hotel staff from calling the police. Their behavior was outrageous!”

“They must be blaming her for the Red Armband taking the Tao family away.”

Also, Tao Ronghua had definitely contacted them.

Tao Ronghua was now a key wanted criminal on their watchlist.

Everyone else in the Tao family was locked up, which meant he was likely trying to move the family’s massive assets elsewhere.

His superiors had said—whoever caught Tao Ronghua would be credited with saving state assets. With that much money involved, at least a third-class merit was guaranteed!

He didn’t have time to talk more with his cousin and rushed back to the station.

Old Madam Tao wailed, “I didn’t hit her!”

“She fainted on her own—what does that have to do with us?”

“I’m her real grandmother—how could I hit her?”

Officer Ah Feng sneered. This kind of person was clearly a habitual liar.

“The hotel staff are witnesses. If you keep lying, you’ll never get out of here for the rest of your life!”

Terrified, Old Madam Tao stammered, “I… I just pushed her a little.”

“She already had injuries. If you’re going to blame someone, blame the people who hurt her!”

“You’re the police. Isn’t it your job to investigate? Why are you treating us like scapegoats?”

Even she was curious—who had beaten Sang Feiyu so badly?

No matter what, she was still her son’s only flesh and blood. To say she didn’t care at all would be a lie.

Officer Ah Feng paused, then recounted in full how Tao Jiaxing’s family had abused Sang Feiyu.

Old Madam Tao went pale with shock and collapsed to the floor, completely speechless.

Old Master Tao inhaled sharply and rubbed his ears—he must have heard wrong.

Sang Feiyu was Jiaxing’s niece, and Ronghua’s cousin. How could they possibly have abused her?

But even more devastating news was still to come—
