Chapter 114: Why Would You Do This to Me?
After taking his own pulse, Lu Yunting realized he had been drugged. He just didn’t know who had done it.
He carefully recalled the events of the evening and the closest person to him was probably Su Yiren.
Only she had the opportunity to tamper with his drink.
But he didn’t understand why she would drug him.
Did she want to have sex with him, or did she want him to have sex with someone else?
Thinking about Su Yiren’s words earlier, Lu Yunting was more inclined to believe the latter.
An unprecedented chill suddenly swept over him, freezing his fingertips.
Lu Yunting asked in a low voice:
“Did you do this?”
Su Yiren struggled violently and cursed:
“Don’t touch me! You dirty man!”
“We’re already divorced…” For a moment, Lu Yunting felt his heart sink,
“Why would you do this to me?”
“I should be the one asking you that!” Su Yiren’s eyes instantly turned red,
“Since you can do such shameless things, don’t pretend to be a righteous gentleman all day long. It’s truly disgusting!”
He had an affair while still married, and even brought his mistress to the company anniversary celebration. They were all over each other, and now he had the audacity to question her?
It was simply infuriating!
Lu Yunting’s lips tightened, his gaze fixed on a point in the void, his lips turning white with anger, and his body uncontrollably trembling.
It was definitely her!
She wanted him to be linked to Ouyang Sasha, to ruin him at this important moment.
“Why?” he asked softly,
“You want to get revenge on me, don’t you?” He divorced her, and everything that happened afterward made her dissatisfied. She harbored resentment, so she did everything she could to humiliate him?
“Revenge?” Su Yiren scoffed,
“I just hope you and your little lover can live happily ever after and die childless!”
Lu Yunting’s brow furrowed, and after a long moment, he slowly lowered his arm and placed Su Yiren back in the water.
He stared deeply at her, his gaze filled with countless emotions: sadness, disappointment, self-deprecation, indifference, and an indescribable feeling.
Su Yiren’s heart skipped a beat. She had never seen Lu Yunting like this before.
Silent, yet filled with sorrow.
Lu Yunting pressed his hands on the edge of the pool, exerted a little force, and leaped out of the water. Then he turned and left without looking back.
Su Yiren watched his figure disappear into the night, feeling a void in her chest.
The night wind pierced through her body, bringing a chill.
She slowly stepped out of the water, the wet clothes blowing in the wind, causing her to shiver involuntarily.
She found a clean bathrobe at the water bar by the pool and put it on, finally feeling a little warmer.
Walking back to the long chair where she had been sitting, Su Yiren found her phone and saw two missed calls, both from Jiang Jinyun.
She didn’t want to go back to her room to change, so she wore the bathrobe and went directly to the beach.
Jiang Jinyun was lying on a beach chair, looking at the stars. Hearing the footsteps, she turned her head and smiled at her:
“I called you out so late, are you already asleep?”
“No,” Su Yiren forced a smile and sat down on the beach chair next to her.
Seeing her wearing a bathrobe and her hair still wet, Jiang Jinyun asked curiously:
“Did you go swimming?”
Su Yiren nodded,
“Yes, I did.”
Jiang Jinyun said with concern:
“The water is a bit cold at night, be careful not to catch a cold.”
Then she stood up,
“I’ll go buy two drinks, you wait here.”
When she came back, she was holding two drinks,
“I bought you hot cocoa, drink it and go to bed.”
Su Yiren thanked her and took a small sip. The rich cocoa aroma instantly filled her mouth, and the sweet taste made her feel a little better.
She held the ceramic cup with both hands, and the warmth of the cup quickly warmed her palms.
No wonder people say that eating sweets can improve your mood. It’s true.
Seeing that her hair was still wet, Jiang Jinyun didn’t let her stay long. When she finished her cocoa, she took her back to their residence.
Su Yiren had only walked a short distance when her head started to feel heavy. She raised her hand to touch her forehead, and it felt slightly hot.
Seeing her unsteady steps, Jiang Jinyun quickly took her arm and asked:
“What’s wrong with you?”
“I’m a little hot,” Su Yiren said truthfully,
“I think I caught a cold.”
Jiang Jinyun’s eyes flickered, and she followed her words:
“You just went swimming and then got blown by the wind, it’s no wonder you caught a cold. I’ll take you back, have a good sleep, and you’ll be fine tomorrow.”
Su Yiren nodded, but the further she walked, the weaker and more restless she felt.
She was leaning heavily on Jiang Jinyun, almost being half-dragged and half-supported back to their residence.
When she stepped into the elevator, her consciousness became unclear, her vision blurred, and she vaguely saw Jiang Jinyun pressing the top floor button. Then the elevator started to slowly rise.
Her head became heavier and heavier, and finally she leaned against Jiang Jinyun’s shoulder, being supported by her as they stepped out of the elevator.
The sounds around her began to distort, and she heard Jiang Jinyun talking to someone. Then she was pushed onto another person.
Su Yiren wanted to open her eyes to see who it was, but her eyelids were too heavy, and she closed her eyes completely, collapsing onto the other person.
Lu Yunting looked down at Su Yiren, who had collapsed into his arms, his eyes cold.
“Mom, what do you mean by this?” he asked in an annoyed tone.
Jiang Jinyun gasped for breath, exhausted, before saying impatiently:
“This is all I can do.” She closed the door, blocking out the outside sounds,
“I know you’ve already filed for divorce, and you’ll be able to get your divorce certificate soon, right?”
Lu Yunting didn’t expect her to know about this, and he didn’t know how to explain it for a moment.
Jiang Jinyun didn’t get angry, her tone surprisingly calm,
“Then what do you plan to do? Marry Ouyang Sasha? Or marry someone else?”
“I haven’t thought about getting married again.” Lu Yunting blurted out, and even he was stunned after saying it.
Jiang Jinyun raised an eyebrow,
“So you want to leave that position empty, and let us have no successors?”
Lu Yunting didn’t say anything. He hadn’t considered this question for the time being.
Jiang Jinyun sighed, her tone full of helplessness:
“Because of that stupid agreement five years ago, you’re now getting a divorce, and you haven’t had any relationship with her for all these years, is that right?”
Lu Yunting’s eyes narrowed,
“Who told you that?”
“I’m asking you!” Jiang Jinyun’s good temper was about to be worn out,
“Lu Yunting! I never thought you had so many thoughts! When I asked you to marry her, you didn’t say a word. You had already planned everything in your heart! You’ve been playing me for a fool all along, haven’t you!” If she hadn’t interrogated a servant in the villa, she might never have known the problem between these two.
Lu Yunting shifted his gaze nervously, calmly saying:
“I didn’t want to get married at the time, but I had to agree to the marriage to get this position.” If he had remained single, he would never have been able to take over the company.
“Then you should also have a child with her to keep this position!”
