Chapter 117: I Want to Go Home
Su Yiren felt dizzy and her head was heavy. Her nose was stuffy and her eyes felt as if they had been smoked.
She looked at Si Hong with bloodshot eyes and said in a hoarse voice:
“Si Hong, I want to go home.”
Her words extinguished all his anger.
Si Hong took a deep breath, his eyes filled with tenderness.
“Okay, let’s go home.” He took the suitcase from her hand, his voice soft, as if afraid of scaring her.
“I made your favorite pork bone soup last night. We’ll go back in a while… Yiren!”
Su Yiren’s face turned pale, and she collapsed forward.
Si Hong quickly put down the suitcase and stepped forward to embrace Su Yiren.
He touched her forehead, it was hot, she must have a fever.
At this moment, he couldn’t care about anything else. Si Hong quickly opened the car door, carried Su Yiren horizontally, and carefully placed her in the back seat.
After closing the car door, he quickly glanced at the empty hotel entrance. His eyes were filled with anger, but also a hint of unprecedented ruthlessness.
Su Yiren felt like she had a long and simple dream.
In the dream, she was still a child of a few years old.
She was running around in the garden of her ancestral home and tripped over the flower wall, her knee was scraped open, and blood flowed out. The pain made her cry.
As she sat on the ground crying, a tall boy suddenly squatted down in front of her.
He was handsome with clear eyebrows and a gentle face. His eyes were dark and shiny, very beautiful.
Si Hong carefully treated her wound and carried her back to her room.
Seeing her crying with red eyes, he put a small thing in her hand. Then, other servants called his name and asked him to help.
After he left, the little girl opened her palm, and inside was a colorful candy!
She was so happy that she forgot the pain in her knee.
Later, she learned that Si Hong was a child that her grandfather “picked up” from outside. He was said to have no parents. If it weren’t for her grandfather’s acceptance, he would probably still be fighting with a group of beggars for food.
From then on, she and Si Hong became best friends.
Every time she returned to her ancestral home, he would be waiting for her at the entrance. Sometimes, when the weather was bad, he would even go down the mountain to pick them up.
Over time, even his parents treated Si Hong as their own child, even taking him abroad and to her own home.
Looking back now, that time was peaceful and happy. She was carefree.
Su Yiren dreamed of this past, her brows relaxed and her breath calm. But then, all this beauty was suddenly swallowed by darkness, leaving only a few scattered points of light.
A raging fire engulfed the entire ancestral home like a giant beast, burning with extreme cruelty. Then, the fire burned the entire mountain peak exceptionally bright, even the dark sky on the horizon was dyed crimson.
Su Yiren felt a burning sensation deep in her heart, but her limbs were cold and trembling.
She kept twisting her body, half fire and half ice, her whole body felt like it was being punished.
Until she was pulled into a warm embrace, the clear and familiar cold fragrance instantly calmed her down.
Su Yiren sniffed and grabbed the other person’s clothes, murmuring:
“…Thank you.”
Su Yiren slept for a long time. When she opened her eyes again, she was back in the Rongcheng villa.
She coughed lightly and turned her head to see unopened medicine and a glass of water on the bedside table.
Su Yiren struggled to sit up, her head was still a little dizzy, and her throat was dry.
She crawled towards the bedside table, wanting to pick up the cup and drink some water, when the door was suddenly pushed open. Si Hong walked in with slow steps.
Seeing that she was awake, Si Hong’s eyes were both surprised and joyful.
“You’re finally awake.” He saw Su Yiren’s movements and quickly stepped forward, picking up the cup and handing it to her.
“You’ve been asleep for two days.”
Su Yiren was stunned when she heard this. She took the cup and drank most of the water, then handed the cup back to Si Hong.
“So long?”
Si Hong took a pillow and placed it behind Su Yiren’s waist, helping her sit up before saying:
“The doctor checked you, you just caught a cold. Stay at home and rest for a few days, take your medicine, and get a good rest.”
Su Yiren nodded. She had been in the pool for so long that day and had been in the wind by the sea. She felt uncomfortable at the time. After drinking the hot cocoa given to her by Jiang Jinyun, she quickly lost consciousness.
Su Yiren suddenly froze. She felt something was strange, but she couldn’t figure it out for a moment, so she simply asked about other things:
“Has anything happened at the company these past two days?”
Si Hong shook his head. “Nothing major. The few autumn clothes that S+ just launched are selling well online. Some private schools have contacted us about making them into school uniforms, but we need to ask your opinion.” Seeing Su Yiren thinking again, Si Hong continued:
“Designer Xu Ying has been temporarily assigned to the Design Team 2. Their team’s theme for this design is said to be her idea.”
Su Yiren nodded, her voice hoarse.
“In cases like this where someone else’s ideas are used, we must talk to the creator in person and list the terms and sign them to avoid copyright issues later.”
“That’s how it’s done, don’t worry.” Si Hong glanced at Su Yiren’s pale face and lips, his heart ached slightly.
“I made you some red date porridge, do you want some?”
Su Yiren had no appetite and was about to shake her head, but when she looked at Si Hong’s deep eyes, which also had bloodshot eyes, she realized he hadn’t rested well these past two days.
She couldn’t let him cook the porridge in vain, no matter what.
So Su Yiren nodded and changed her mind.
“Okay.”
She thought she wasn’t hungry, but when she smelled the aroma, her stomach made two untimely growls. She couldn’t help but touch her nose sheepishly.
Si Hong didn’t laugh at her. He took a small porcelain spoon, scooped up a spoonful of red date porridge, lowered his head and blew on it, then brought it to her lips.
“Eat some, then take some medicine, and then get some rest.”
Su Yiren wanted to take the spoon herself, but the other person’s arm was held straight out, without any intention of retreating. She had no choice but to open her mouth and simply act like a “pampered child” who was fed everything.
After eating half a bowl of porridge, Su Yiren shook her head, not wanting to eat anymore.
After Si Hong cleaned up the dishes, he watched her finish her medicine. Just as he was about to let her rest for a while, he suddenly heard Su Yiren’s cold voice.
“Contact the major clients of Lu’s Clothing Factory.”
Si Hong looked at her in surprise and immediately understood her meaning. He asked her tentatively:
“Are you sure you want to compete with Lu’s for clients?”
Su Yiren’s eyes were emotionless, and her voice was like ice.
“Not only do I want to compete for clients, I also want to compete with them for resources, workers, and the market… I want to bankrupt Lu’s Clothing Factory!”
