Chapter 22: Staying Here Tonight
It was unclear to Su Yiren how many people had eaten a meal without tasting it.
She only knew that after saying those words, she felt much better, and even ate four more soup dumplings.
After dinner, Aunt Liu brought out two desserts, placing them in front of Ouyang Shasha and Su Yiren.
“Auntie, aren’t you having dessert?” Ouyang Shasha immediately picked up the strawberry ice cream in front of her and offered it to Jiang Jinyun, smiling ingratiatingly:
“The strawberries are the sweetest this season.”
Jiang Jinyun waved her hand, “No, thank you.”
Aunt Liu brought over the coffee and placed it in front of Jiang Jinyun, smiling and saying on her behalf:
“My wife doesn’t like cold drinks.”
Su Yiren watched Ouyang Shasha’s deliberate flattery, finding it uninteresting, so she picked up the small silver spoon and scooped up a strawberry, taking a small bite.
“So cold!”
It was probably because it had been soaked in the ice cream for too long, the strawberry was a little icy.
She put the remaining half on the small plate, preparing to eat it after it warmed up a bit.
Just as she dug out a spoonful of ice cream to continue eating, a hand with distinct knuckles suddenly appeared in front of her, picking up the strawberry she had discarded on the small plate and throwing it into her mouth.
Su Yiren held the small spoon, staring in astonishment at Lu Yunting. At that moment, she suddenly felt like he must have been possessed by some evil spirit.
Lu Yunting chewed nonchalantly for a moment, then glanced at her disdainfully,
“Why are you so delicate? It’s not that cold.”
Everyone present was taken aback.
Jiang Jinyun glanced at the two of them, then lowered her eyes, took a sip of coffee, but a smile appeared on her lips.
Ouyang Shasha was so angry that her face turned pale, but she still had to smile, asking stiffly:
“A-ting, don’t you dislike sweets?”
That day, she had put the strawberry to his lips, and he wouldn’t eat it, but today he picked up the half-eaten strawberry from someone else’s plate!
It was infuriating!
Lu Yunting answered without any emotion: “Yeah, this strawberry isn’t sweet.”
“Not sweet?” Aunt Liu immediately came over, curiously muttering,
“I picked these from the orchard, one by one, and even tasted a few on the spot, they were all very sweet.”
Lu Yunting pulled out a tissue to wipe his hands, said nothing, and got up to rest on the sofa.
Because of this little incident, Su Yiren felt that the ice cream tasted bland.
She couldn’t figure out what Lu Yunting was up to?
Why was he eating her leftover strawberry out of the blue?
Was it because she had used the “leftover shrimp” remark to counter his girlfriend, and he was angry?
So now he’s deliberately trying to disgust her?
Yes, that must be it!
This petty man!
Only his girlfriend can mock her, and she can’t even fight back?
Su Yiren sneered and ate two more bowls of ice cream in a fit of anger.
As she ate on her own, Ouyang Shasha directed Lu Yunting to bring over the gift she had bought.
“Auntie, I heard you like sunflowers, so I specially asked someone to buy this for you! This painter is quite famous! His paintings are hard to come by!”
Sunflowers?
Su Yiren raised her eyes and scanned the composition and colors of the painting, her heart already understanding.
Jiang Jinyun nodded, “You’re thoughtful.”
She carefully examined the painting, saw the signature in the lower left corner, and rarely showed a smile,
“Not bad. I know this painter, he’s good at painting flowers and plants, but I don’t know if he’s male or female, old or young.”
Ouyang Shasha happily said: “That’s a coincidence, this painter is going to have an exhibition in Jiangcheng in a few days, I asked a friend to help me get a few tickets, let’s go together then? We should be able to see him in person!”
Jiang Jinyun lowered her eyes and took a small sip of coffee, saying faintly:
“We’ll see then, I might not have time.”
She then looked at Su Yiren, seeing that she had just finished the last spoonful of ice cream, she reprimanded her:
“You ate three bowls of ice cream in one go, aren’t you afraid of a stomachache? Girls should eat less cold things, it’s okay to have a little occasionally, but eating too much will damage your spleen and stomach.”
“I know~” Su Yiren laughed and placed the empty bowl on the tray,
“It’s all because Aunt Liu’s ice cream is too delicious!”
Aunt Liu was holding the tray, ready to take it out, and upon hearing this, she “hey”ed, helplessly saying:
“Look, you’re blaming me now~”
Jiang Jinyun agreed: “That’s right, why did you make it so delicious.”
Aunt Liu shook her head and sighed: “Madam, you just spoil her!”
The three of them laughed heartily.
Ouyang Shasha saw that they were chatting happily and wanted to participate, so she interjected:
“Aunt Liu, how did you make this ice cream? I’ll learn from you later.”
Aunt Liu answered with a smile:
“It’s very simple, I’ll give you the recipe later, you’re so smart you don’t even need to learn, just look at it and you’ll understand.”
She then left the dining room with the tray.
Ouyang Shasha naturally saw that Aunt Liu didn’t like to deal with her, but she was just being polite and said a few words to her.
She didn’t show anything on the surface, but in her heart she secretly cursed the old woman from head to toe!
She’d see if the old woman dared to talk to her like that after she married into the Lu family!
Thinking of the word “marry”, she immediately looked at Lu Yunting, thinking that she had to start with him.
But what made her curious was that Su Yiren actually came to the Lu family’s ancestral home for dinner, did they not tell their family about the divorce?
It must be, how could Jiang Jinyun, a protective mother-in-law, let Lu Yunting divorce easily?
Although she had been out of the country for several years, she was well-informed about the Lu family’s affairs.
It was said that Jiang Jinyun liked Su Yiren very much and doted on this daughter-in-law.
She had been half-believing it before, but today she finally believed it.
It seemed that she had one more obstacle to overcome if she wanted to be with Lu Yunting.
The three of them left the dining room one after another and went to the living room for tea.
Jiang Jinyun happened to answer a phone call and went to the study first.
Ouyang Shasha saw Su Yiren walking ahead, afraid of being snatched from her position, she quickly walked a few steps to overtake her and sat next to Lu Yunting.
Su Yiren watched her series of little actions with a cold eye, finding it ridiculous.
She didn’t want to sit next to Lu Yunting in the first place.
Ouyang Shasha looked at the bouquet thrown on the coffee table, her eyes flashed, and she immediately picked it up and examined it carefully,
“A-ting, I told you, red roses are the prettiest.”
Lu Yunting was lowering his head, scrolling through his phone, and when he heard this, he didn’t even look up, just casually “hmm”ed in response.
Ouyang Shasha lowered her head and gently sniffed the roses, pretending to be intoxicated,
“So fragrant~ How did you know I like red roses?”
Lu Yunting was seriously looking at the phone screen, obviously not hearing what she asked.
“A-ting?” Ouyang Shasha shook his arm reproachfully.
“Hmm?” Lu Yunting finally looked up, looked at her, then looked at the roses she was holding, and asked:
“Are you leaving? I’ll have Hao Shu send you off.”
Su Yiren watched the whole thing from the side, finding Lu Yunting extremely boring.
He clearly gave someone a bouquet of flowers, but he pretended to be clueless, hypocritical, pretentious, and annoying.
Or was this a little bit of romance between the two of them?
Heh…
It was really eye-catching.
She didn’t want to stay here and watch a couple’s drama, so she stood up and prepared to say goodbye to Jiang Jinyun.
But Lu Yunting suddenly said to her:
“We’re staying here tonight.”
