Chapter 48: I need to use the restroom! Get out of the way!
Zhou Tong, fearing something might be wrong, rushed into the room and found the vase on the bedside table had fallen to the ground.
Su Yiren was still bent over to pick something up, staring blankly at the shards on the floor, and sheepishly withdrew her hand.
Lu Yunting had just moved a small table away when he heard the sound, turned his head, and asked,
“What are you trying to get?”
“The wheelchair,” she said.
The wheelchair was on the other side of the bedside table. She wanted to pull it over, and when she leaned over, she accidentally knocked over the vase.
Lu Yunting walked over, pushed the wheelchair to the edge of the bed, and asked,
“What do you need the wheelchair for?”
Su Yiren’s face was a little uncomfortable, and she pursed her lips without answering. She just used both hands to support herself on the bed, slowly moving towards the wheelchair, clearly wanting to sit down.
Lu Yunting quickly pressed her down, frowned and asked again,
“Are you going somewhere?”
Su Yiren still didn’t answer, one hand already on the seat, struggling to move onto it. Lu Yunting, without further ado, picked her up and placed her directly in the wheelchair.
Su Yiren: “…”
She dryly thanked him, turned the wheelchair and started to leave.
Lu Yunting quickly grabbed the armrest, stopping her from leaving, and asked again,
“Can’t you answer my question?”
Seeing that the two were about to argue again, Zhou Tong stepped forward to ease the tension,
“Madam, if you want to go somewhere, let the young master push you there. Are you going downstairs to relax? Or is there something else?”
Su Yiren asked uncomfortably,
“Is the caregiver back yet?”
Zhou Tong quickly said, “I just contacted her, she’s on her way back.”
Su Yiren didn’t say anything else, she continued to turn the wheelchair and leave, looking a little anxious.
Lu Yunting was anxious. He went around to the front of the wheelchair, bent down slightly, put his hands on both armrests, and encircled her between his arms.
He looked at her dark eyes, and asked in an annoyed tone,
“You want to leave, don’t you?”
The doctor had just said she could go home to recuperate, so she was so anxious to go back now?
Was she going back to the villa, or back to the ancestral home, or maybe… back to Rongcheng?
Lu Yunting suddenly felt restless, a feeling of confusion he couldn’t explain.
Su Yiren impatiently pushed his arm,
“Get out of the way.”
“I won’t let you go.” Lu Yunting pressed firmly on the wheelchair armrests, his brow furrowed, as if he was about to lose his temper the next second.
Su Yiren was helpless, she could only say with a red face,
“I have to use the restroom! Get out of the way!”
Lu Yunting was stunned, the anger that had risen to the top of his head was instantly extinguished.
“…Oh.”
As soon as Su Yiren came out of the restroom, Jiang Jinyun’s voice came from the corridor:
“Yiren! Yiren, how are you?” Followed by the sound of high heels clicking, getting closer and closer.
Jiang Jinyun came in three steps and two, asking with concern,
“I came as soon as I saw the message, I was so worried!”
Su Yiren’s heart warmed slightly, “I’m fine, I’ve worried you.”
Jiang Jinyun’s purpose for coming this time was simple, she demanded that Su Yiren go back to the ancestral home to recuperate.
“Although this hospital is our Lu family’s, the environment is definitely not as good as home. I’ve already arranged for Dr. Qin to go there first, let him stay at home, and be available on call, you don’t have to worry about that.”
Su Yiren naturally didn’t want to go, but she could only decline,
“Mom, there’s no need for that, the doctor said I just need to rest. I still have to go back to Rongcheng, there’s a lot of business at the company…”
“What business is more important than your health?” Jiang Jinyun interrupted her.
She glanced at Su Yiren’s feet, which were bandaged like two dumplings, and said with heartache,
“Broken bones take a hundred days to heal, you can’t be careless! Besides, your feet are so important, you know? If you really leave any sequelae, how will you dance in the future?”
Before Su Yiren could say anything, Lu Yunting felt curious, and asked in surprise,
“You can dance?”
Jiang Jinyun: “Shut up!”
Su Yiren: “…”
Jiang Jinyun glared at him, her voice full of frustration,
“If you could just pay a little more attention to your wife, you wouldn’t be so clueless.”
Then she turned to Su Yiren, her eyes full of reminiscence and emotion,
“I remember the first time I saw you, it was at the Berlin Concert Hall. You danced a black swan, which really amazed me! You perfectly portrayed the different temperaments of the white swan and the black swan, both contradictory and unified, fully interpreting the multifaceted nature of human beings. I thought at the time, how lucky your parents must be to have such a perfect daughter! If I had a daughter like you, how wonderful it would be…”
Thinking back to the past, Su Yiren smiled embarrassedly, listening to Jiang Jinyun say happily,
“But now you’ve married Yunting, aren’t you my daughter too?”
Jiang Jinyun looked at Su Yiren with loving eyes.
Lu Yunting had never heard these things before, and now hearing Jiang Jinyun talk about them, he was a little stunned.
Su Yiren actually knew how to dance ballet? And performed abroad? Really?
Hearing his mother praise Su Yiren so much, Lu Yunting sarcastically asked,
“Didn’t you forget about Yun Xi? Isn’t she your daughter too?”
Jiang Jinyun’s smile faltered, but she didn’t take the bait, instead she continued to say to Su Yiren,
“I’ve always treated you like my own daughter, and now that you’re injured, I’m heartbroken. No matter what, you have to recuperate under my watchful eye, then I’ll feel at ease.”
Su Yiren was moved by her sincere words, but despite the emotion, she still didn’t want to stay here,
“Mom, I know you mean well, but the company really can’t do without me.”
“What can’t do without you? You can do everything online now, just have video conferences if you need to, you’re just making excuses.” Jiang Jinyun looked at her suspiciously and asked,
“You don’t hate me, do you?”
“Look at what you’re saying, you’re really wronging me!” Su Yiren quickly defended herself.
“Don’t always say the word ‘death’, it’s so unlucky,” Jiang Jinyun glared at her reproachfully, then said,
“I promised your parents that I would take care of you, and I will never let you suffer any injustice. It’s too late today, and you’re tired, so stay at the hospital for one night, and I’ll send a car to pick you up tomorrow.”
She said: go home.
Su Yiren felt a mixture of sourness and warmth in her heart.
Although she had returned to Rongcheng and rejoined the Su family, she had no home.
She had lived with her parents abroad since she was a child, and the occasional trips back to China were to visit her grandfather.
But now her grandfather was gone, and the Su family’s ancestral home, once filled with laughter and joy, had been burned to the ground five years ago. She could no longer find a place to call home.
Although she had become the CEO of the Su Corporation, she was surrounded by a group of uncles and aunts who were like wolves and tigers.
They were all her blood relatives, but they were all eyeing her position, and she couldn’t feel a shred of family warmth.
No one in the entire Su family could accept her.
For the past five years, she had always treated the Lu family as her own home, and Lu Yunting’s mother as her own mother.
Now that they were about to get a divorce and go their separate ways, what she would miss the most was probably the attraction of the word “home”.
So she didn’t know how to tell Jiang Jinyun about the divorce, and could only leave this hot potato to Lu Yunting.
“Mom, I still…” She was about to say something else, but Jiang Jinyun interrupted her.
“Don’t say anything else. If you still consider me your mother, then do it this way.”
