After the Divorce, My Ex-Wife’s Identity Shocked the World Chapter 64

Chapter 64: An Answer Must Be Given Today

During this time, Lu Yunting had not replied to her messages.

Su Yiren called him several times, but his phone was always off. She asked Zhou Tong, who said he had not returned to the country yet.

The divorce was inexplicably put on hold.

On this day, Su Yiren returned to Jiangcheng, coinciding with Lu Yunting’s grandfather’s birthday.

Every year on his birthday, Lu’s grandfather would host a banquet at the ancestral home for many friends, as well as some business partners of the Lu Group. It was more of a gathering than a birthday celebration.

Whether it was friends or business partners, seeing each other often and staying in touch was always beneficial.

Su Yiren arrived at the Lu family’s ancestral home early in the morning. The guests had not yet arrived, and the entrance was quiet.

She went directly to the main house to see Lu’s grandfather.

When she was living there recovering from her illness, Lu’s grandfather happened to be out fishing with an old friend, and they were gone for ten days and a half. They didn’t see each other.

Lu’s grandfather was feeding fish in the garden. Although he was over seventy years old, he had a straight back and was in high spirits, looking no different from a middle-aged man.

“Grandpa! I’m back!” Su Yiren called out happily.

Lu Jinhai turned his head and immediately smiled,

“I said the magpies have been circling this courtyard all day! It turns out my granddaughter-in-law is back!”

Su Yiren smiled and walked over, mysteriously taking out a beautifully packaged small box from behind,

“Grandpa, happy birthday!”

“Oh, why is this birthday present getting smaller and smaller?” Lu Jinhai shook his head, pretending to say:

“You’re getting stingier and stingier!”

Su Yiren put on a serious face, pretending to take back the gift,

“Since you think it’s small, then don’t take it! I’ll give it to Bai Grandpa tomorrow!”

Bai Grandpa was the elderly man who had gone fishing with Lu Jinhai recently. The two old men often visited each other’s homes, and the younger generations of both families were familiar with them.

“Hey! That won’t do!” Lu Jinhai snatched the small box,

“You can’t let Old Bai get away with it!” He said as he immediately removed the packaging and ribbon, winked at her shrewdly,

“I’ve already opened it, so don’t even think about giving it away.”

Su Yiren was amused by him and covered her mouth with a laugh.

Lu Jinhai opened the box, took a closer look, and was delighted:

“Hahaha! I told you my granddaughter-in-law knows me best! I love this gift!”

Su Yiren’s eyes curved into crescents: “You like it?”

“I like it! I like it!” Lu Jinhai held the gift and wouldn’t let go.

“Look, the person who can make the old man laugh so early in the morning, you can guess who it is.” Jiang Jinyun walked in from the courtyard, smiling brightly:

“Dad, let me see what treasure gift Yiren gave you, it’s made you so happy!”

Lu Jinhai deliberately showed off to Jiang Jinyun:

“A row of jade fish hooks! Look, how good the quality is! The carvings are so exquisite!”

Jiang Jinyun leaned over and took a look, sighing in admiration,

“This row of fish hooks could buy a house! Well, it seems you’re the one Yiren cares about most in this family!”

Lu Jinhai laughed happily,

“Of course!”

Su Yiren naturally knew that Jiang Jinyun was just trying to make the old man happy, so she smiled and pulled on Jiang Jinyun’s arm, trying to be fair,

“Grandpa and Mom are the people I care about most.”

“Hey? You forgot someone!” Lu Jinhai quickly reminded her.

Su Yiren’s smile faltered. She naturally guessed what Lu Jinhai was going to say next.

I wanted to change the subject, but Aunt Liu came in from outside the yard in a hurry and shouted excitedly:

“Old Master, Madam, Young Master is back!”

Before the words were finished, Su Yiren heard a familiar male voice, low and magnetic.

“Grandpa, Mom, I’m back.”

Lu Yunting appeared in the courtyard, wearing a custom-made suit.

Su Yiren’s gaze fell on the suit, and her eyebrows raised slightly.

She noticed that Lu Yunting had been wearing suits designed by her recently, and she wondered if he was afraid that he wouldn’t be able to wear them anymore, so he was making the most of them.

But no matter what, she was too lazy to think about it.

Su Yiren looked away expressionlessly and picked up the fish food to feed the golden carp.

Lu Yunting walked over and said respectfully to Lu Jinhai:

“Grandpa, happy birthday!”

Lu Jinhai glared at him disapprovingly,

“Happy what? You’re not as filial as Yiren, you came later than her!”

Lu Yunting said helplessly:

“Grandpa, I rushed back on the last flight last night, and I haven’t even changed my clothes after getting off the plane. You still say I’m not filial?”

Lu Jinhai looked him up and down, and he did look windblown and weary, so he asked:

“How did the business trip go this time?”

Lu Yunting handed Lu Jinhai a file with both hands,

“The project in M country is signed.”

Lu Jinhai was surprised and took it over to quickly flip through it. A smile immediately spread across his face,

You’re truly my grandson, Lu Jinhai, you’re so capable! Hahaha!

Jiang Jinyun also echoed his praise:

“Isn’t that because you taught him well!”

Lu Jinhai was even happier hearing that.

Lu Yunting just smiled in response, but there was no pride on his face.

He shifted his gaze and looked at Su Yiren standing by the pool feeding the fish.

He saw that she was only focused on feeding the carp and didn’t even give him a glance. It wasn’t like before, when he returned from business trips, she would rush over and look at him with bright eyes, asking him about his trip with concern.

Now it seemed like she treated him like air.

Lu Yunting frowned, this feeling made him uncomfortable.

Jiang Jinyun noticed the subtle atmosphere between the two and felt something was wrong, but she didn’t say anything. She said to Lu Jinhai:

“Dad, the guests are about to arrive, you should go change your clothes too.”

“Right.” Lu Jinhai quickly returned the file to Lu Yunting and said happily to him:

“I’m going to wear the suit Susan designed today. I heard it was sent over when I was out at sea a while back.”

Lu Yunting subconsciously glanced at Su Yiren. She remained motionless, still diligently feeding the fish.

After Lu Jinhai walked away, Lu Yunting finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Jiang Jinyun walked over to him and whispered:

“Your grandfather was out at sea for over half a month, and he just came back last night. He doesn’t know anything about the company. If he finds out that Susan and Lu have terminated the contract…”

She didn’t continue, just glanced at Su Yiren’s silent back and sighed,

“Just take care of yourself.” Then she turned and left.

Lu Yunting rubbed his temples in annoyance.

When Susan signed the agreement with Lu Group, Lu Jinhai was so excited. After all, she was a world-renowned designer, and her name was a treasure trove. Any company that collaborated with her would make a fortune.

Sure enough, since collaborating with Susan, Lu had emerged as a force in the clothing industry, quickly capturing a large share of the market and generating profits that made their competitors envious.

Lu Jinhai naturally knew this, so he liked the designer even more.

In addition, Su Yiren was also very good at winning people over.

On holidays or on the old man’s birthday, she would send a free dress in Susan’s name, all hand-sewn by her, limited edition, one-of-a-kind, which made the old man so happy that his beard almost reached the sky. He would brag about it to anyone who would listen.

He even asked Lu Yunting to meet Susan several times to express his gratitude, but she always declined.

The old man was always regretful about this, especially wanting to see this top designer in person.

But now that they had terminated the contract, if the old man found out, his anger would probably be directed at Lu Yunting…

The garden was quiet, only the two of them remained, like two statues, neither moving.

Lu Yunting stared at her back silently, vaguely feeling that she seemed thinner than before.

In his memory, she wasn’t exactly plump, but she wasn’t as thin as she was now, with her shoulder blades faintly visible.

She squatted there, a small figure, looking a little pitiful.

Lu Yunting thought it must be because they had been separated for too long, and he had almost forgotten how she had flirted with other men at the art exhibition.

The brief pity he had felt instantly dissipated. He walked behind Su Yiren and asked casually:

“When did you arrive?”

Su Yiren threw away the last few fish food pellets and slowly stood up. She looked at him with a calm expression,

“This morning.”

Lu Yunting nodded, just about to say something else, but heard her speak again,

“I came to the ancestral home today, first to celebrate Grandpa’s birthday, and second to find you.”

No matter how busy he was, Lu Yunting would always come back for his grandfather’s birthday, even if he was on a business trip abroad, he would rush back, extremely filial.

So she deliberately came back to the ancestral home today, hoping to catch him here.

“Waiting for me?” Lu Yunting was startled, then seemed to understand something, his expression a little unnatural,

“I just came back this morning.”

“I know.” Su Yiren said:

“Zhou Tong already told me.”

She took two steps forward, standing opposite Lu Yunting, and asked him calmly,

“You’ve been very busy lately?”

Lu Yunting didn’t expect her to talk to him so calmly, even with a concerned tone, and for a moment he felt a strange sensation.

He also replied in a good voice, which was rare for him:

“It’s okay, there were some problems in the early stages, but they were all resolved later.”

Su Yiren wasn’t interested in what he said, so she asked again:

“So, you weren’t too busy to reply to a message, right?”

Lu Yunting instantly understood what she meant. She was questioning him about why he hadn’t replied to her message.

He took a deep breath and casually answered:

“My phone was off.”

Su Yiren nodded silently, wiped away some fish food crumbs from her fingertips, and looked at him again,

“Alright, then give me an answer now.”

He had been out of the country for so long, avoiding her, not even willing to reply to a text message, why should she continue to wait for him?

Lu Yunting didn’t expect that after so long apart, they would start arguing again as soon as they met. It was really annoying.

“What do you want?”

Su Yiren’s voice was cold:

“Go to the Civil Affairs Bureau with me now.”
