Chapter 89: You’re Still So Playful
Su Yiren returned to the living room and sat on the sofa, still angry about what had just happened:
“Who does he think he is? Why is he yelling at me?”
“He’s not Shen Tong Yu’s dad, why is he deliberately looking for trouble?”
“I’ve never seen such a hateful man!”
“Arrogant! Narcissistic!”
Si Hong sighed helplessly, took a glass of warm water and placed it in front of Su Yiren, “poking” at her sore spot in a bland tone,
“You dislike him so much, yet you liked him for so many years.”
Su Yiren was immediately choked, she glared at Si Hong in frustration, but saw him smiling harmlessly,
“What, did I say something wrong?”
“You’re not wrong, I was just blind before…” Su Yiren was like a deflated balloon, she picked up the water glass and gulped it down.
All the complaints in her stomach finally subsided, she dejectedly placed the glass on the coffee table, secretly scolding herself for being blind and deaf in the past.
Seeing that she finally calmed down, Si Hong sat opposite her and talked about other things,
“Lu Corporation’s stock price has dropped significantly.”
Su Yiren immediately sat up straight, “Why?”
“There are rumors that you two have already divorced.”
Su Yiren suddenly remembered that at Grandpa Lu’s birthday banquet, Bai Xiu Ping had mentioned this.
Only at that time she said it was a misunderstanding, and she lightly brushed it off.
Unexpectedly, someone present was loose-lipped and spread the news.
Divorce, for a listed company’s stock price, would inevitably have some impact.
Especially for Lu Yunting and her, who had always created the illusion of a “harmonious marriage,” once they broke up, it would inevitably trigger a backlash.
Su Yiren took a deep breath, she could already imagine Grandpa Lu’s furious expression and Jiang Jin Yun’s aggressive look, she unconsciously sighed.
Si Hong continued, “Lu Yunting is so irritable, it must be related to this.”
“Whether it’s related or not, he deserves it anyway!” Su Yiren said angrily:
“The divorce property has already been divided, any further losses are his own, I hope he goes bankrupt and gets kicked out of the Lu family!”
Si Hong knew she was just venting, so he shook his head and didn’t continue the topic.
“By the way, didn’t you say that a designer who returned from overseas contacted you? How is it going?”
Su Yiren had released a recruitment notice some time ago, hoping to find one or two good designers to work with her to shoulder the responsibility of the new company.
But after recruiting for a few days, she didn’t find anyone suitable.
Either their designs lacked originality, or they were vague and unclear about what they wanted to express, or even some young people came just for the name Susan, they didn’t know anything at all…
In short, none of them caught her eye.
Until two days ago, a designer took the initiative to send her a resume, saying that she had just returned to China and was looking for a company that matched her design philosophy.
Su Yiren saw the two design drafts she sent, her eyes lit up, and she immediately invited the designer for further discussion.
“We haven’t met yet, I have an appointment tomorrow.” Su Yiren paused, then said:
“Will you accompany me tomorrow?”
Si Hong nodded and said “Okay,” he glanced at the night scene outside the window and reminded her:
“It’s getting late, get some sleep.”
Su Yiren wasn’t sleepy at all, she sprawled on the sofa and waved at him,
“You go to sleep. We young people aren’t sleepy at all.”
Si Hong was amused by her, he took a step forward and pinched her face without thinking,
“You’re still so playful.”
The delicate and smooth touch in his hand made Si Hong suddenly stunned.
He looked down at her black eyes, at that moment, he felt like he was sucked into those mysterious colors.
Su Yiren was also taken aback, she looked up at Si Hong, blinked her eyes, and asked him in frustration:
“Why are you pinching me?”
Si Hong quickly withdrew his hand, pretending to be calm,
“The elderly are going to sleep, goodnight.”
Su Yiren waved at him, watching his straight back walk into the guest room, she felt a sense of relief.
She touched the place where he had pinched her, noticing a trace of warmth there.
Back in his room, Si Hong lay down directly on the bed.
He stared at the ceiling with his eyes open, his mind filled with the image of Su Yiren looking at him with wide eyes.
Those bright and pure eyes, looking at him so frankly, as if they could sweep away all the impurities in his heart.
Si Hong took a deep breath and raised his arm to cover his eyes.
His heart was initially beating slowly and steadily, one beat, one beat, but gradually, it lost its rhythm.
Si Hong suddenly opened his eyes, subconsciously covering his chest, his fingertips pressed slightly, turning a little white.
His complexion wasn’t good, it was even a little pale.
After taking a few deep breaths in a row, his heartbeat finally returned to its previous rhythm.
—
The next day, Su Yiren woke up naturally, she stretched happily.
Even though she knew that everything here was decorated to imitate the house abroad, she still felt like she was back home.
She hadn’t been staying in hotels or at the Lu family for a while, she hadn’t felt the feeling of “home” for a long time.
So last night, looking at the “familiar” environment, the same style of quilt and pillows, she couldn’t help but immerse herself in it, and slept until noon.
She picked up her phone and saw that Si Hong had sent her a WeChat message ten minutes ago, the content was simple:
“Come down for breakfast if you’re hungry, waiting for you.”
Su Yiren immediately jumped out of bed, she hurriedly went to wash up and changed into a light blue dress.
She looked left and right in the mirror, very satisfied before slowly going downstairs.
Si Hong had just finished setting the breakfast when he saw Su Yiren leaning against the door, her eyes smiling as she greeted him.
“Good morning,” being healed by such a smile early in the morning, Si Hong was in a good mood, he also responded softly,
“Come eat, I made some wonton soup.”
They had bought a lot of ingredients at the supermarket yesterday, Si Hong deliberately picked a few semi-finished products like wonton and dumplings, because they were easy to make and could be cooked quickly.
He knew that Su Yiren often slept in and sometimes skipped breakfast, this habit wasn’t good, so he planned to let her get back to a normal routine while she was staying here.
Su Yiren slept well, her appetite also improved, she ate two small bowls of wonton soup.
After they finished breakfast, Si Hong drove her to the agreed location, ready to have a detailed discussion with the designer.
It was a business club known for its tranquility and elegance, Su Yiren liked to bring clients here for tea and chat.
But as soon as they parked the car, they saw two figures walking towards the entrance.
With just a glance, Su Yiren recognized them, she couldn’t help but sarcastically say:
“What a coincidence.”
