Chapter 92: Using Charm

The dinner wasn’t very pleasant. The two of them spoke in a way that felt like they were constantly at odds, not the loving and harmonious couple as rumored.

Xu Ying looked back and forth between them, eventually choosing to focus on her food, not wanting to be caught in their crossfire.

Lu Yunting took a call mid-meal and left early.

After they left, Su Yiren breathed a sigh of relief and chatted with Xu Ying before they parted ways.

She had anticipated that this private meeting wouldn’t yield any results and wasn’t too disappointed.

Getting into her car, Su Yiren tiredly pressed her temples and sighed:

“She’s a clever woman, isn’t she?”

“That’s why she wanted to meet with both of you at the same time, to observe,” Si Hong pulled over the seatbelt and buckled it, then grabbed a neck pillow from the backseat and placed it behind Su Yiren’s neck.

“What about you? Do you want to sign her?”

“I’d like to, but it depends on her,” Su Yiren shifted into a more comfortable position and closed her eyes.

“I’m going to take a nap. I have to go to the company and deal with those old fogies this afternoon.”

Si Hong smiled, started the car, and said:

“Sleep. I’ll wake you up when we get there.”

That afternoon, Su Group held a general meeting to analyze and review the company’s recent operations.

But when Su Yiren arrived at the meeting room, it was empty.

She checked her watch. The meeting was supposed to start in two minutes.

“Where is everyone? Did they not get the notice?”

Si Hong furrowed his brow slightly. “The notice was sent out to the secretary’s office yesterday.”

He then stepped out of the meeting room and made a phone call. When he returned, there was a strange look in his eyes.

“What’s wrong?”

“The secretary’s office said the notice was sent by Zou Xiaoli.”

Zou Xiaoli was the assistant who had snuck into Su Yiren’s office and copied files while she was away.

Su Yiren let out a cold laugh. “She’s already starting to cause trouble.”

Her fingers tapped on the table. Soon, the sound of hurried footsteps could be heard outside the door.

Zou Xiaoli knocked and entered. Her delicate face was covered in a thin layer of sweat. As soon as she entered, she bent down and apologized.

“I’m sorry, Ms. Su. I was late sending the notice. All the leaders’ schedules were booked, and they said they couldn’t make it.”

Su Yiren calmly scanned her, her tone gentle.

“When did you send the notice?”

“Eleven o’clock last night…” Zou Xiaoli answered cautiously.

“My mother went to the hospital last night, and I didn’t check my phone. I didn’t see the message until eleven.”

“Eleven o’clock, huh…” Su Yiren’s eyes flickered.

“Not too late.”

Zou Xiaoli was stunned. Su Yiren didn’t seem angry at all, instead, she comforted her.

“It’s okay. Family comes first.”

Zou Xiaoli nervously clutched her meeting minutes, listening as Su Yiren continued:

“Our company values humanity. If you need anything, be sure to let us know. If you have any difficulties or experience any unfair treatment, you can also talk to us privately.”

Zou Xiaoli was a bit incredulous. She pursed her lips, looking like she wanted to say something but didn’t. In the end, she just nodded.

“Thank you, Ms. Su. I’m fine.”

Su Yiren looked at her again. Seeing that she had nothing else to say, she said softly:

“Alright, go ahead and get busy.”

After Zou Xiaoli left, Su Yiren’s face instantly turned cold.

Si Hong opened a thermos and handed it to her, saying softly:

“Have some water. Calm down.”

Su Yiren didn’t even look at it, just took a sip and immediately frowned.

“My stomach is full of fire, and you give me warm water?”

Si Hong smiled. “Both cold and warm water can extinguish fire. Drinking warm water is good for your health.”

Su Yiren glared at him.

“You’re so calm. You’re not angry?”

“What’s the point of getting angry? It’ll only make you upset.”

“You’re right. That’s true. But those old geezers are really infuriating!”

Si Hong organized the reports and files on the table, a cold glint flashing behind his glasses. He said slowly:

“Then we’ll take care of them one by one. No rush.”

His words quickly calmed Su Yiren down. Seeing Si Hong calmly organizing things, she couldn’t help but ask:

“What could possibly make you anxious?”

Si Hong didn’t hesitate. He said directly:

“Your matters.”

Su Yiren was stunned. Then she pretended to be regretful.

“Oh, you’re so good. What if you get married someday, give up on this, and I’m left to fend for myself…”

“Then I won’t get married,” Si Hong’s tone was calm, but his words were firm.

“I’ll just keep listening to your orders.”

“That won’t do! How can I keep you all to myself?” Su Yiren touched her chin, thinking seriously.

“Three years, no, two years! You help me for another two years, and the company should be on the right track. After that, you can do whatever you want. If you want to start your own company, I’ll invest in you!”

Si Hong looked at her softly, smiled, and didn’t say anything.

Su Yiren’s eyes shone brightly as she looked at him. “I’m serious!”

Si Hong nodded. “I know. We’ll see.”

Suddenly, the image of the designer they had just met popped into Su Yiren’s mind. She immediately asked:

“Hey, what do you think of Xu Ying?”

Si Hong recalled, then answered seriously:

“You showed me her designs. They’re not as amazing as yours, but they’re not bad.”

Su Yiren asked again: “What about the person? How is she?”

“She’s alright. Although her actions today were a bit inappropriate, she’s a clever person. It should be easy to work with her.”

“Is she pretty? Does she have good taste in clothes? What’s her personality like?” Su Yiren eagerly asked.

Si Hong was taken aback by the barrage of questions.

“What does that have to do with work?”

Then he suddenly realized that a designer’s fashion sense could reflect their personal style and preferences, so it did have some connection to work. But…

“Sorry, I didn’t pay much attention to what she was wearing.” Si Hong felt like he had failed in his duty.

Su Yiren rolled her eyes in frustration. She was defeated by him.

“You’re such a workaholic!”

Si Hong blinked. He heard Su Yiren whisper to him:

“I’m asking you, do you like girls like her?”

Si Hong was embarrassed. He avoided her gaze.

“I don’t.”

“I think she’s pretty!” Su Yiren recalled Xu Ying’s appearance and praised her.

“Her skin is fair, she’s tall, she has good taste in clothes, she has an air of elegance, and she looks good standing next to you. The key is that her smile is really beautiful. She seems to have a good personality, just like you! And her salary must be high. The watch she’s wearing is worth six figures. Judging from her conversation, her family background seems good too.”

Seeing that Si Hong was unmoved, Su Yiren leaned closer and asked with a smile:

“How about it? Should I play matchmaker and introduce you two? Or, you could use your charm and lure her to our company? I’ll give you a bonus then!”
