Rao Linchang’s home is in Binjiang Yuyuan, a villa community renowned for being so exclusive that even money might not be enough to secure a spot.
Every time Pao Pao drops Rao Linchang off at home, she imagines him as a wealthy young master who’s just experiencing life in the entertainment industry.
However, whenever she indulges in such fantasies, Rao Linchang ruthlessly shatters them: “I’m the son of the family’s maid. Every day, I’m mercilessly scolded and mistreated by the young master of the house. But my brain isn’t made of dough, so if you give me 50 yuan, I’ll tell you about my revenge plans!”
Pao Pao: “………”
Do I look like a fool to you?
Despite the setback of not making money, Rao Linchang remains unperturbed. He sips on his milk tea and leisurely heads home.
Once he arrives, the house is empty.
Rao Linchang makes a face, kicks off his shoes, and flops onto the spacious sofa in a relaxed manner.
As he gets comfortable and takes out his phone to continue arguing with Lian Xi’s fans on Weibo, a call from a contact labeled “Sexy Young Master Online Chat” comes in.
At that moment, a glimmer of a smile, unnoticed even by himself, briefly flickers in Rao Linchang’s clear, bright eyes.
“Hello, Young Master,” he answered the call with a tone that was both formal and charming.
“Mm,” Tan Yue, accustomed to his occasional quirks, quickly responded: “Is the house clean?”
Rao Linchang smoothly replied, “It’s very clean. I even used the toilet brush on your toothbrush eighteen times.”
Tan Yue chuckled softly, “That’s great. I’ll reward you with a hug when I get home.”
Rao Linchang politely declined, “The reward sounds nice, but please don’t come home today.”
Tan Yue continued to laugh, “That’s not possible. I’m on my way home to pick up my husband, so please help him with his makeup and styling. I want to bring him home for dinner.”
“Damn it!” Rao Linchang could no longer keep up the act. He sprang up from the sofa, “Why are you going home again? Didn’t you just go back two days ago?”
T
an Yue’s voice was lazily drawn out, “Can’t be helped. Today, my sister-in-law is coming back from the hospital, and my grandparents insist we go back to visit our little niece.”
Rao Linchang: “……..6.”
…..
Half an hour later, Rao Linchang, with a look of someone who felt they had been dragged into a pirate ship, got into Tan Yue’s car.
Inside the car, Tan Yue was seated in the back, his long legs elegantly crossed. The young man was impeccably dressed in a suit, his porcelain-white skin contrasting sharply with his dark, ink-like short hair. A pair of silver-rimmed glasses sat on his devilishly handsome face.
Hearing Rao Linchang enter the car, Tan Yue moved his distinctively jointed fingers, turned off his iPad, and then turned his head to reveal the pair of peach blossom eyes behind the glasses, which instantly lit up with a smile.
In the flicker of his eyes, there seemed to be countless unspoken depths of affection.
“Quick with the action?” Tan Yue’s deep voice carried a hint of amusement. “I thought you’d take another half hour to get ready.”
Rao Linchang snorted, “I’m not giving you a chance to find fault!”
Tan Yue didn’t respond to that. Instead, he looked at the bag Rao Linchang was holding. “What’s in that bag? A gift for the little niece?”
“Yep,” Rao Linchang hugged the navy blue bag protectively. “To show my sincerity, I even put in my biggest diamond!”
Then he shot Tan Yue an angry glare. “You need to reimburse me for this!”
Tan Yue frowned. “You’re using the diamond I gave you for your wedding gift?”
Rao Linchang shook his head and said, “No, there’s nothing!”
Tan Yue breathed a sigh of relief.
But before he could relax fully, Rao Linchang added with a pout, “When we get divorced later, I’ll have to return it to you. I didn’t dare to touch it.”
Yes, the wealthy patron from Run City mentioned by Fang Mo was indeed his marriage partner, Tan Yue.
They had known each other since childhood, but they had only been married for a year.
In that year, while their romantic relationship didn’t develop, the pure friendship between them had been clearly understood by both.
Of course, this was merely Rao Linchang’s personal interpretation.
In reality, Tan Yue’s family company had no need for a marriage alliance; it was simply a matter of wanting to bring this person home.
But this fool had yet to see through his intentions, causing Tan Yue to be afraid to make any move for fear of frightening him.
And just one sentence from Rao Linchang could immediately make his heart feel tight.
Taking a deep breath, Tan Yue lifted his eyelids to reveal his deep, almond-shaped eyes, locking them onto Rao Linchang. “So why should I reimburse you for something that your aunt sent?”
Rao Linchang immediately responded, “Of course, because that’s your niece!”
Tan Yue raised an eyebrow. “Don’t forget, we’re not divorced yet, so she’s also your niece.”
Rao Linchang wanted to keep arguing, but Tan Yue cut him off. “If you don’t think so, I’ll just call my mother-in-law to check.”
Seeing that Tan Yue was really about to pick up his phone, Rao Linchang quickly grabbed his wrist and put on a very obedient smile. “Hubby, I’m sorry. Hubby, I love you.”
The heavy feeling instantly lifted, and Tan Yue’s mood brightened again.
However, he continued to tease with his sultry, upturned eyes, “Do you still need to reimburse me?”
“No need, dear hubby,” Rao Linchang said with a forced smile, but he was secretly squeezing Tan Yue’s wrist with a bit of force.
Tan Yue didn’t feel any pain; it was more like being scratched by a mischievous little kitten, making him laugh involuntarily. “So obedient. Now, hubby, give your husband a kiss.”
Rao Linchang raised his slender, clean hand. “Then your dear husband will give you a big hug!”
Tan Yue sensibly stepped back. “Alright, I’ll leave you to it.”
After a moment, he remembered something and turned to Rao Linchang. “By the way, I heard you’re planning to cheat during the marriage?”
“Spreading rumors is illegal, watch out or I’ll sue you, Tan Yue!” Rao Linchang said fiercely, pointing at him.
Tan Yue simply unlocked his iPad and handed it over.
Confused, Rao Linchang looked down and saw a post from the official Weibo account of Let’s Fall in Love announcing the list of participating guests.
After reading it, he pouted. “Damn it, why is that white lotus also there?”
Tan Yue tapped the iPad screen. “So, where’s your excuse?”
“Excuse? What excuse?” Rao Linchang looked up with his eyes wide like a curious cat. “Sister Mo said that the sponsor for this dating show is your company, so I need to use all my skills to grab all the extra resources you have.”
“And what about the romance?”
“Romance? Why would I talk about something that even dogs wouldn’t?” Rao Linchang said, giving Tan Yue a flirtatious wink. “Besides, I love my hubby so much. How could I let any other seductive vixen steal him away? Right, hubby?”
Tan Yue: “………”
No grass, no teasing.
Clearing his throat, Tan Yue said with a lazy smile, “If you want resources, it doesn’t have to be so difficult.”
“How so?” Rao Linchang leaned in, his warm breath brushing against Tan Yue’s ear. “Mr. Tan, are you trying to seduce me?”
The soft, warm breath made half of Tan Yue’s body feel heated, so he decided not to back away. Instead, he leaned in and used his low, magnetic voice that Rao Linchang liked: “What if I am? Would Teacher Rao let me?”
The man’s voice was deliberately deep, languid, and seductive.
It was like a bewitching, dangerous fairy.
Rao Linchang: “………”
Rao Linchang was momentarily stunned but quickly snapped back to reality and pushed away the flamboyant peacock.
“You’re so dirty! Mommy says I shouldn’t play with dirty kids! So you’re not allowed to talk to me today!” Rao Linchang warned, pointing at him.
Tan Yue was amused by his childlike, cute expression. “Alright, then anyone who talks to me later is a dog.”
“Hmph!” Rao Linchang huffed, turning his head to ignore Tan Yue.
Then he pulled out his phone and went to fight with the black fans on Weibo who had been attacking him from the dating show’s official account.
…..
The car arrived at the Tan family’s old residence, and two elegant figures emerged from the black luxury vehicle.
They exchanged a glance but said nothing, each striding towards the front door of the house.
Just as they neared the entrance, Rao Linchang hesitantly grabbed Tan Yue’s suit sleeve.
Tan Yue stopped and glanced down at the hand clutching his sleeve. Then he lifted his eyes to meet Rao Linchang’s gaze. “What’s up? Princess Chuang Chuang wants to talk to me again?”
Rao Linchang nodded.
It wasn’t that he wanted to talk; it was that they were about to enter, and Tan Yue, that rascal, had a habit of complaining in front of the elders about how he didn’t eat properly, stayed up playing games, and indulged in junk food like snacks, drinks, and ice cream.
Really, he could be such a nuisance.
So this time, Rao Linchang was determined to shut Tan Yue’s complaining mouth!
Tan Yue leaned in, his smirk carrying a hint of schadenfreude. “But we just agreed that anyone who talks to me would be a dog, and now Princess Chuang Chuang is making it difficult for me.”
Rao Linchang, being the bigger person, didn’t want to quibble with Tan Yue. Softly, he replied, “Woof woof, I’m a woof woof.”
Tan Yue: “……..”
Is this sweet talk supposed to be a punishment for someone?
“Is that not enough?”
Seeing Tan Yue press his lips together in silence, Rao Linchang leaned in, his gaze filled with threat.
The fierce look clearly said—consider this a warning! Otherwise, I’ll make you cry!
Tan Yue understood the silent message and couldn’t help but laugh. “Is this how you ask for favors?”
“Yes, it is,” Rao Linchang replied with an even more charming smile. “I suggest you don’t be ungrateful.”
Tan Yue raised an eyebrow, unafraid. “It’s fine; after all, Princess here is quite good at complaining.”
Rao Linchang continued to smile. “Has Mr. Tan forgotten that I have that video of you confessing while holding a doll?”
Tan Yue: “………”
Tan Yue, still smiling, wrapped his arm around Rao Linchang’s waist. “My husband is so beautiful, I wouldn’t want to complain about him.”
Rao Linchang returned with a forced smile. “My husband is so handsome, I wouldn’t want anyone to look at him too much.”
And then the two, full of mutual affection, walked through the front door together.
…..
Tan Yue’s family was quite straightforward. His grandparents were still alive, his parents were middle-aged but not old, and his elder brother Tan Xiao was married with a son and a daughter from a second pregnancy.
Then there was Tan Yue and his same-sex husband.
Other cousins were not very close and could be ignored for now.
As soon as Rao Linchang entered the house, he was pulled to the living room by Mrs. Tan and Mrs. Tan, one on each side, to see the little niece.
The little niece, who was still under a month old, was tiny, wrapped in clothing smaller than Rao Linchang’s arm.
Rao Linchang found the baby very cute and smiled as he gently poked the baby’s tiny hand. “Hello, little princess. I’m your second uncle.”
Tan Yue: “………”
What kind of devilish title is ‘second uncle’?
Tan Yue corrected from the side, “He’s your second aunt.”
The baby seemed to understand and giggled, wiggling her tiny toes.
“Wow!” Rao Linchang’s bright, expressive eyes lit up instantly. “She’s smiling at me!”
“It seems like Manman really likes Chuang Chuang,” Mrs. Tan said with affectionate eyes, linking her arm with Rao Linchang’s.
“The little niece is named Manman? What a cute name! Who came up with it? Was it the eldest sister-in-law?” Rao Linchang asked, turning to the beautiful woman on the sofa.
The eldest sister-in-law smiled and shook her head. “It wasn’t me; it was chosen by the parents. It means ‘complete’ or ‘perfect.’”
“It’s really beautiful. Your parents are great at naming,” Rao Linchang praised, making Tan’s parents laugh with his flattery.
“Oh, actually, I have some other lovely names in mind, but I don’t know if they’ll be useful in the future,” Mrs. Tan winked at Rao Linchang.
Rao Linchang didn’t catch on. Instead, Tan Yue, who had taken the opportunity to wrap his arms around Rao Linchang’s waist, said with a smile, “There are names. Let’s work hard together.”
Rao Linchang, catching the subtle sarcasm, looked at Tan Yue with a soft, gentle tone and a sarcastic edge. “Are you planning to get an artificial womb, hubby? Wow, my hubby is so amazing! I’ll need to work even harder!”
Tan Yue: “…….”
Tan Yue sighed helplessly. “Alright, be quiet now, my mute husband.”
