Chapter 18
“Take it slow, we can’t change too quickly.
She wasn’t in a hurry—after all, one day, she would catch up to the flower spirits.
‘Wow, Auntie, how is it that just overnight you’ve become even more beautiful?’ The high schooler, who had been dragged out of bed by her grandmother, woke up instantly at the sight of her beautiful aunt.
Is it really that obvious? To avoid changing too drastically, Lu Jiu hadn’t dared to use all her spiritual energy on her face. She remained calm: ‘How have I become more beautiful?’
Lu Xinxin leaned in to scrutinize her closely: ‘It seems like you’ve gotten a bit fairer… and your eyes are more clear and distinct? I’m not sure exactly, but you just look even more beautiful.’
Lu Jiu sighed in relief and playfully poked the young girl: ‘Your mouth is so sweet this early in the morning.’
‘Hehe… So, Auntie, can you lend your phone to your sweet little niece to send a couple of messages?’
Lu Jiu…
—
In the days that followed, Lu Jiu became very busy.
Renting land, hiring workers, planting seeds, opening a flower shop…
Even though many tasks were handled by professionals, she was still so busy that her feet barely touched the ground.
For two whole months, Lu Jiu was constantly traveling between the city and the countryside.
Because of this, her parents and sister often complained that she didn’t have time to spend with them.
Lu Jiu could only reassure them repeatedly that once the shop was open, she would have more free time.
This was the truth. Her family was wealthy, and in the future, the company would be managed by her sister and Brother Feng Ming.
She could easily live a leisurely life, doing nothing but collecting dividends.
Opening a flower shop was purely to satisfy her hobby and pass the time.
But since she had decided to open it, Lu Jiu wanted everything to be perfect.
Not necessarily to make a profit, but at least not to lose money, right?
So, it was necessary to be hands-on in the beginning.
Of course, because of her busy schedule, things happened just as Lu Jiu had expected.
She didn’t have any spare time to meet new people, or even to think about the police officer she had once had a crush on.
And that small feeling of affection, diluted by time and busyness, gradually faded away.
Right now, what Lu Jiu was most concerned about was the opening of her flower shop the day after tomorrow, October 8th!
Chapter 10
Lu’s Department Store was under Lu Jun’s name.
When she found out her sister wanted to open a flower shop, the eldest sister immediately reserved the best storefront at the entrance of the first floor.
The space was 150 square meters—quite large for a flower shop.
As a result, the shop, named “One Flower, One World,” was slightly different from traditional flower shops.
Inside, the space for flowers and potted plants only occupied about 70% of the usable area.
In the remaining space, amidst the colorful sea of flowers and the fragrant floral aroma, a few wicker chairs were placed here and there.
This was a world of flowers, but also a harbor where people could rest when they were tired.
The night before the opening, all the flowers had already been arranged on the shelves.
Feeling a bit uneasy, Lu Jiu was doing a final check.
‘Boss, there are still some spots available. Should we add a few more sofas or something?’ The shop manager, Zhao Lanlan, suggested.
The main reason was that the flowers in the shop smelled so good. She had owned a flower shop herself for five years, and although it eventually closed, she had handled many plants.
But this was the first time she had experienced a situation where even her pores seemed to be breathing in the floral scent.
Zhao Lanlan could already foresee how popular the business would be in the future, so she was full of enthusiasm.
But Lu Jiu shook her head and gently said, ‘No need, a few wicker chairs are enough.’ After all, this was a flower shop, not a teahouse. Too many people would make it noisy, which would go against her original intention of opening the shop.
Seeing the boss’s firm attitude, Zhao Lanlan didn’t press the issue further and just followed her closely.
From time to time, she couldn’t help but sneak a glance at her boss.
She couldn’t help it—the boss was just too beautiful.
Her eyebrows, her delicate nose, her cherry lips…
Especially when she stood among the flowers.
The flowers were beautiful, but she was even more beautiful.
‘Ahem… Lanlan, it’s getting late, we should head back.’ After two months of spiritual energy cleansing, Lu Jiu’s entire being had become as refined and delicate as jade. She thought she had gotten used to being stared at, but Lanlan’s intense gaze still made her feel a bit uncomfortable.
Zhao Lanlan snapped out of it: ‘Oh… oh, yes, I’ll go turn off the lights.’
—
‘Tomorrow is the grand opening. Have you decided what to wear?’
Since childhood, her younger sister had a gentle nature. Even though she had become more lively over the past two months, Lu Jun still couldn’t help but worry.
So, after comforting her over dinner, she specifically came to check on her before bed.
Lu Jiu had just finished her bath and was lying in bed, applying a face mask while replying to messages. Although she found her family’s concern amusing, she replied softly, ‘I’ve picked it out already, Mom helped me. Do you want to see it? It’s that white cheongsam.’
Lu Jun trusted her mother, Fang Wenyi’s, sense of style, but since it was already October, she opened the wardrobe to check the thickness of the dress.
Only after confirming it wouldn’t be too cold did she apply a face mask and snuggle up next to her sister: ‘Who are you chatting with?’
‘Lots of people…’ Knowing that her shop was opening tomorrow, her classmates, friends, and relatives all sent her congratulatory messages.
Growing up, Lu Jiu had only two close friends; she wasn’t that familiar with the others.
But it wouldn’t be right to ignore those who sent messages or called to congratulate her.
Oh, Lu Jiu remembered something and showed her sister one of the messages: ‘Aunt Yue also sent me a message.’
Lu Jun glanced at it and, seeing that it was just a simple congratulations, felt relieved. ‘Aunt Yue has always been kind to us. As long as she doesn’t mention Li Ze, don’t be too cold with her… Has that kid Li Ze tried to contact you again?’
‘I haven’t seen him in a long time, but… somehow, he found out my new number and keeps sending me messages…’
Lu Jun instinctively frowned, ‘Why didn’t you tell me earlier…’
‘Don’t frown, don’t frown, you’re wearing a face mask.’ Lu Jiu reached out to smooth out the sheet of the face mask on her sister’s face.
This was good stuff on their faces, so Lu Jun quickly adjusted her expression while also pressing down on the mask that had started to lift from her sister’s chin.
Ever since her sister had figured out how to make peony seed oil, it was like she had unlocked some special skill and started creating all sorts of skincare products.
In just two months, the little girl had not only made herself a lot more beautiful but had also benefited their mother and her.
Now, although her own skin couldn’t compare to peony petals, it was still exceptionally fair and smooth.
