Chapter 49
Seeing Wei Shi’an’s reaction, Luo Wei, who had been rambling on, couldn’t believe it. “You didn’t see this coming, did you?”
Wei Shi’an truly hadn’t considered it. He was so overwhelmed with fear and anger that he didn’t have the capacity to think about anything else…
At the same time.
As soon as Han Fengming received the call, he wasted no time and drove straight to the city police station.
When he finally saw Lu Jiu and confirmed multiple times that she was indeed unharmed, the worry that had been weighing on him lifted.
“Fengming, you didn’t tell my parents or sister about this, did you?” Lu Jiu asked cautiously.
Han Fengming glanced at her, exasperated. “Didn’t you tell me not to?”
Lu Jiu felt a little embarrassed. “I’ll tell them myself later.”
“As long as you know,” Han Fengming said, then turned to the middle-aged policeman who had been assisting them. Politely, he asked, “Can we leave now?”
Wei Ping, curious about this man’s identity—handsome, with an air of nobility that clearly set him apart from ordinary people—couldn’t help but wonder. He didn’t seem like a brother, but could he be a rival for Wei Shi’an? Despite his thoughts, Wei Ping maintained a cheerful expression. “You can leave, but Xiao Lu, do you want to wait for Captain Wei?”
“I’ll wait,” Lu Jiu responded, then turned to Han Fengming to explain. “My boyfriend went to the cafeteria to get me some food. We’ll leave after I eat.”
Han Fengming was aware that the little girl had a policeman for a boyfriend. He was curious to see what kind of person he was. “Then let’s stay until you’ve finished eating.”
“Fengming, have you eaten yet?” Lu Jiu asked.
“I’ve already eaten.”
As they were chatting, Wei Shi’an approached with a tray of food.
What he saw was the two of them, a handsome man and a beautiful woman, engrossed in conversation—a scene that was completely different from what he had imagined a meeting with the family would be like.
Lu Jiu noticed him as well and quickly introduced the two, a bit embarrassed. “Fengming, this is Wei Shi’an.”
Then she turned to Officer Wei. “This is my brother, whom I grew up with.”
She didn’t specify that he was a cousin or anything; just that he was the brother she grew up with, which implied there was no blood relation.
Where did this pretty boy come from? Wei Shi’an narrowed his long, phoenix-like eyes, hiding his displeasure. He then extended his hand proactively. “Nice to meet you. I’m Mudan’s boyfriend, Wei Shi’an.”
Standing tall and broad-shouldered, Wei Shi’an looked strong and imposing. Han Fengming was a bit surprised—he hadn’t expected the delicate little girl he grew up with to be into this type.
However, Wei Shi’an’s eyes were determined, and his gaze was upright. Not bad, he thought.
Han Fengming withdrew his assessing gaze and shook Wei Shi’an’s hand. “Thank you, Officer Wei, for today.”
Wei Shi’an responded coolly, “It was my duty.” Mudan was his girlfriend; there was no need for an outsider to thank him.
Han Fengming, despite his cool exterior, was perceptive and noticed the slight tension in Wei Shi’an. Amused, he glanced at the little girl who seemed completely unaware of the situation. He decided to extend an olive branch. “I’m two years older than you. If you don’t mind, you can call me Fengming, like Mudan does.”
Lu Jiu added at the right moment, “Fengming is my sister’s boyfriend.”
So, he’s going to be his future brother-in-law. Wei Shi’an immediately retracted the slight hostility he had felt. “Fengming, have you eaten?”
Han Fengming waved his hand. “I have. You go ahead and eat with Peony. I’ll just go check on the situation.”
