Chapter 22: Who’s the One That Can’t?
“Jiang Yu!”
Jiang Qingqing ran toward him, swiftly pulling out the small knife Fu Zhengnan had given her earlier. With a clean motion, she cut through the ropes binding Jiang Yu.
Losing his balance, Jiang Yu immediately collapsed to his knees.
“Are you alright? Don’t you dare die on me.”
Jiang Qingqing panicked for a moment and fumbled through the small cloth bag that Fu Zhengnan had carefully prepared for her.
Inside were all sorts of medical supplies—Yunnan Baiyao, Amoxicillin, alcohol, gauze…
There was even a handwritten note from Fu Zhengnan detailing the effects and usage of each medication. Due to his haste, his normally elegant handwriting was rougher and sharper than usual, exuding an aggressive intensity.
Jiang Qingqing grabbed a 250ml bottle of medical alcohol and poured it directly onto Jiang Yu’s wounds.
“AHHHH—!”
Jiang Yu, who had been tortured to the brink of collapse, instantly regained consciousness as a sharp, searing pain shot straight through his body.
His deep, guttural scream even made Jiang Qingqing’s hands tremble slightly.
Friend, you’re kind of scary…
But her hands never stopped moving. One bottle after another, she poured the alcohol over his wounds.
God said this is called disinfection.
If the wounds were left full of bacteria, people could get infected and die. Jiang Qingqing didn’t fully understand, but she followed directions obediently.
Step by step, she did exactly as Fu Zhengnan had instructed.
Jiang Yu had no idea what Jiang Qingqing was doing. After enduring the alcohol torture, he instinctively resisted when she tried to apply Yunnan Baiyao powder.
“There’s no need, Princess. It’s better to find a proper physician.”
Getting injured in battle was common.
In the military, they would sometimes rinse wounds with strong liquor, but that strangely fragrant medicinal powder made Jiang Yu hesitant.
Jiang Qingqing pushed away his hand, which was blocking the wound.
“This isn’t up to you. Weren’t you prepared to die just a moment ago? Now that I’ve saved you, your life belongs to me.”
She unscrewed the bottle and sprinkled a thin, even layer of the medicinal powder over his wounds.
Feeling guilty, Jiang Yu could only let her do as she pleased.
However, he was shocked to see that his bleeding stopped almost immediately after the powder was applied.
Jiang Yu was stunned—could such a miraculous medicine exist?
If this were used in the military…
“Princess, where did you get this medicine? Who developed it?”
Jiang Qingqing was momentarily at a loss for words, stumbling over her response.
She couldn’t exactly say God gave it to her, right?
Even if she dared to say it, no one would believe her.
Seeing her reluctance to answer, Jiang Yu assumed that this must be a secret royal medicine. If the supply was limited, it would make sense why it hadn’t been distributed to the military.
Jiang Yu smiled understandingly.
“It’s fine. I was just curious.”
However, when he later saw mountains of the same medicinal powder stockpiled in the barracks, he was completely dumbfounded.
Only then did he finally realize—his princess was truly powerful!
—
After roughly treating the wounds, Jiang Qingqing slung the small cloth bag Fu Zhengnan gave her back around her neck.
There were a lot of snacks inside.
She couldn’t afford to lose it.
“Can you walk?”
Jiang Qingqing stood up and looked down at Jiang Yu, who was still sitting on the ground.
She was already impatient, but Jiang Yu’s condition was obviously not great.
“There’s a carriage outside. Can you drive it? As long as we leave this village and reach the city walls, I can get you into the palace.”
The secret passage in the imperial study.
It was an absolute secret, never to be exposed unless necessary.
But right now, Jiang Qingqing couldn’t care less.
With the Prime Minister’s Manor and the Empress Dowager’s faction growing bolder, something must have happened to the Emperor inside the palace.
The longer she delayed, the more danger her father would be in.
If they acted before Liu Xubai found out about Jiang Yu’s escape, they still had a chance.
Jiang Yu listened to Jiang Qingqing’s words as if hearing heavenly scripture.
He was shocked by her openness—she trusted him this much?
That was a royal secret passage!
And what did she just say?
A carriage?
How was there a carriage waiting for them outside?
Jiang Qingqing grew frustrated seeing Jiang Yu’s dumbfounded expression. She turned away and, with a single gesture, opened the house’s front door out of thin air.
Returning to the living room, she called out into the air:
“God~ I want something~”
“Hmm?”
Fu Zhengnan responded casually.
He had promised Jiang Qingqing that he would stay ‘in the house’ all day to help her.
(Translation: He would keep his phone on at all times.)
“Do you know of any medicine that can make a weak man instantly strong and brave?”
Fu Zhengnan: ???
He did.
But he had never used it before.
Taking off his frameless glasses, Fu Zhengnan held his phone to his ear and stepped out of the conference room.
“You guys continue the discussion.”
At This Moment: Fu Corporation’s Top-Level Conference Room
Several senior executives exchanged glances, bewildered.
Wait… Did President Fu just get told to take medicine?
Were they even supposed to hear that?
Would they be blacklisted for knowing too much?
But seeing President Fu’s uncharacteristic indulgence, they were truly curious. Who exactly was this woman? The one who managed to capture the attention of such an untouchable figure?
Meanwhile, Fu Zhengnan continued his conversation with Jiang Qingqing as he walked.
His tone was calm and measured. “For example? What exactly do you need?”
Jiang Qingqing thought for a moment. “Something that lets him stand up on his own… without me having to help.”
—
Her bold words led to one of the longest silences Fu Zhengnan had ever experienced.
He could roughly guess what she wanted to do. But still… his mind couldn’t help but wander.
“Jiang Qingqing, from now on, don’t ever say something like this to anyone else.”
“I’ll leave what you need in the living room later. It’s called a ‘crutch.’ Tell Jiang Yu to use his arms to support himself with it, and he’ll be able to stand. I’ve also left some painkillers.”
Fu Zhengnan’s voice was low and slightly husky, like a hook scratching against Jiang Qingqing’s ears.
She raised a hand, rubbing her suddenly itchy earlobe.
And then, she had a thought—one that was blasphemous, yet undeniably true:
God sounds like a male version of Daji.
She had thought so the first time she heard his voice…
“Why can’t I say it to others?”
Jiang Qingqing didn’t understand.
Fu Zhengnan’s response was brief. “Because they wouldn’t be able to do it.”
Jiang Qingqing: ???
Not able to do what?
Ohhh—not able to give her all these amazing treasures?
That made sense!
It seemed like God had gifted her yet another incredible artifact this time!
Jiang Qingqing turned to face the east and gave a deep bow.
“I’ll make sure to return safely to the palace. Once I’m back, I’ll burn incense for you.”
After saying that, she even nodded solemnly, sealing her promise.
Fu Zhengnan watched her devout expression and let out a quiet chuckle. “Are you just making empty promises?”
She had promised to burn incense for him at least five times already.
He didn’t need it, of course. But since she was so insistent, he didn’t bother stopping her.
“Empty promises? Then next time, I’ll draw you a sesame pancake~”
Jiang Qingqing instantly perked up!
So God likes her drawings? That’s easy.
“I’m heading out now! If I need anything else, I’ll come find you~”
Seeing a pair of crutches suddenly appear in the living room, Jiang Qingqing stealthily grabbed a handful of candy from the small table and stuffed it into her pouch before excitedly hugging the crutches and dashing out of the room.
—
With everything settled, Fu Zhengnan returned to the conference room, his expression completely composed.
There was even a hint of warmth in his usually sharp eyes.
Not a single trace of embarrassment or annoyance at being overheard by the entire executive team.
—
Senior Executives:
“??? What’s going on?! President Fu got called to take medicine by his girlfriend and looks THIS happy?”
“He’s lost it! Truly a boss—he can even endure something like this?”
“No wonder I’ll never be a CEO!”
