Chapter 8: As Long as I Don’t Feel Embarrassed
Fu Zhengnan was silent for a moment before asking in a deep voice, “Who did that to your face?”
Jiang Qingqing, already in high spirits, became even more excited upon hearing the divine being show concern for her. She eagerly recounted the events of the day—how she had beaten up Liu Mei and a few old maids.
At the end of her story, she couldn’t help but add, “Aren’t I pretty good at fighting?”
Her metaphorical tail was raised, waiting for praise.
Fu Zhengnan: “……”
His expression was unreadable as he swiped through the game interface, searching for a character named Liu Mei—but found nothing.
Seeing Jiang Qingqing covered in dirt, he then navigated to the in-game store and purchased several bath essentials. His tone, for once, softened as he instructed, “Go to the bathroom and take a bath. Change into a clean dress.”
“Bathroom? A place to bathe?”
Jiang Qingqing’s eyes widened. Bathing in front of the divine being—was that appropriate? That seemed a little improper, even for friends.
Fu Zhengnan gave a light “Mm” in response.
He had yet to realize the awkwardness of the situation.
In his mind, Jiang Qingqing’s existence was exactly as he had described to Lu Jian’an—just part of a game.
And since it was a game, it had to comply with Huaguo’s regulations, such as strictly prohibiting any inappropriate content.
However, when Jiang Qingqing stood under the shower, her face flushed red, Fu Zhengnan regretted his decision for the first time.
He had underestimated the limits of this game.
Clearing his throat lightly, he averted his gaze.
The usually cold and composed look in his eyes was now tinged with a barely noticeable hint of panic.
Instinctively, he wanted to exit the game, but for some reason, his hand hesitated.
Inside the bathroom, Jiang Qingqing was only wearing a sheer silk robe. Staring at the unfamiliar bathroom, she wasn’t sure how to use it. Gathering her courage, she timidly asked Fu Zhengnan,
“Um… I wanted to ask… where do I fetch the water from…?”
Normally, she used a wooden bath bucket.
Fu Zhengnan, who had just suppressed his emotions, was once again thrown into turmoil by Jiang Qingqing’s words.
He himself wasn’t entirely familiar with the layout of this bathroom, which was part of a luxurious suite that had cost tens of millions.
Lowering his long, dark eyelashes, he quickly scanned the screen and replied in a hoarse voice, “Press the red button in the center. The water temperature is automatic.”
Jiang Qingqing nodded.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
The showerhead sprayed water down from above, making Jiang Qingqing shiver slightly, unaccustomed to the sensation.
However, since the water was warm, it wasn’t too unbearable. She still hadn’t removed her silk robe, uncertain whether the divine being was still present.
Even just wearing a sheer robe felt disrespectful enough.
She stood there for quite a while, not hearing Fu Zhengnan’s voice again. Hesitating, she softly asked in an uncertain tone,
“Divine one… are you still here?”
Fu Zhengnan didn’t respond.
Jiang Qingqing waited for the time it took to brew a cup of tea before finally exhaling in relief.
Muttering to herself, she said, “Looks like he’s gone.”
As she spoke, she reached up to untie the barely-there silk robe, finally allowing herself to relax and properly wash. She hadn’t bathed for days, and the discomfort was unbearable.

[Fu Family Old Mansion]
Old Master Fu had just returned from playing golf with his old war buddies.
He had intended to head to Fu Zhengnan’s study to pick out a few books, but instead, he was surprised to find a Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix painting spread across the desk—along with a gold chain casually placed beside it.
Old Master Fu was utterly shocked.
With his years of experience as an antique collector, he could tell at a glance—this gold chain was…
This wasteful grandson! Just leaving something so valuable lying around like that!
Immediately, he grabbed his phone and called Fu Zhengnan, speaking bluntly without giving him a chance to refuse, “You spendthrift! I’m taking the bracelet on your desk. I’m also keeping the painting.”
A completely baffled Fu Zhengnan: “???”
What bracelet? What painting?
Right now…
He had no time for this…
But Old Master Fu didn’t care if he responded or not.
“Alright, that’s settled.”
Without waiting for a reply, he hung up the phone.
Then, he turned around and took multiple photos of the gold chain and the Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix painting from different angles.
He promptly sent them to his war buddies’ group chat.
Old Master Fu: “Everyone, take a look. This is a gift from my dear grandson.”
X: “That chain has excellent quality—he’s got a good eye.”
Y: “Which era is that painting from? Want to trade? I’ll swap it with another one from my collection.”
L: “Zhengnan is really filial. Old Fu, you’re lucky.”
The entire chat was filled with praise and admiration, making Old Master Lu—who had just opened his phone—so envious his eyes turned red.
How were their grandsons so vastly different?!
In a fit of frustration, Old Master Lu forwarded the entire conversation to Lu Jian’an.
“Look at this! Just look at it yourself!”
Lu Jian’an felt that he was completely innocent in all of this. If there was a grievance, it had a source; if there was a debt, it had an owner. If he was feeling wronged, he should go find Fu Zhengnan to settle the score.
Why didn’t Fu Zhengnan invite him when he was trying to please the old master?
Now he was left in such an awkward position.
Lu Jian’an quickly selected multiple messages from the group chat, forwarded them, and sent a private message to Fu Zhengnan.
“Where did you buy all this stuff? Get me a set too. I’ll pay upon delivery! Thanks, boss!”
—
After finishing her bath, Jiang Qingqing suddenly realized she hadn’t brought any clothes inside.
Luckily, there was a women’s bathrobe hanging on the rack in the bathroom, which somewhat resembled the inner layer of her palace attire.
After thinking it over, she figured that since the divine being wasn’t present, it shouldn’t matter.
Jiang Qingqing quickly dried herself, tied on the bathrobe, and, moving as fast as lightning, dashed over to the wardrobe, intending to pick out something comfortable to wear.
But to her surprise…
There wasn’t a single outfit she could wear.
Was fabric in the divine being’s world that expensive? Otherwise, why were these clothes made with just one or two flimsy pieces of cloth?
Fu Zhengnan remained silent.
Staring at the silk nightgowns hanging in the wardrobe, he quietly purchased over a dozen sets of palace attire from the in-game store.
This really wasn’t his fault—how was he supposed to know this game was so detailed? Even trivial matters like Jiang Qingqing’s daily necessities had to be handled by him.
Those silk nightgowns were just complimentary items that came with purchasing the luxury suite.
“Huh? Divine one, you’re here?”
Jiang Qingqing gasped in surprise when an entire row of palace outfits suddenly appeared before her.
Though she had already seen items magically appear over the past couple of days, it still amazed her every time.
Fu Zhengnan: “……”
He wished he weren’t.
His silence, however, led Jiang Qingqing to assume he truly wasn’t in the room and that the gifts had merely been scheduled to arrive after her bath.
Blissfully unaware of the truth, Jiang Qingqing was delighted.
How wonderful~
The divine one sent her another gift~
She picked the simplest outfit and changed into it. Once she was fully dressed and had completely relaxed, exhaustion washed over her.
That familiar feeling of hunger and fatigue struck again.
With a dejected expression, Jiang Qingqing stared at the leftovers on the dining table. Ugh… the divine one isn’t back yet, but I really don’t want to eat leftovers…
Limp and spiritless, she sprawled on the sofa, silently waiting for the divine one’s return.
Fu Zhengnan had been silently watching her for nearly half an hour. Seeing her remain motionless, he started wondering if his little figurine had gotten sick.
He finally spoke, “What’s wrong with you?”
His cool, clear voice reached her ears, and Jiang Qingqing’s eyes flew open.
“Divine one, you’re back!”
Then, she humbly admitted, “I’m so hungry…”
