ATMIWPT Chapter 9 That Was Absolutely Forbidden

Fu Kuangze tensed at the sound of the door opening. His sharp gaze swept the room, scanning for any anomalies. Only after confirming there was nothing amiss did he relax slightly.  

His expression remained grim, darkened by frustration and barely concealed anger. Impatience flickered in his eyes as he cast a cold glance at Liu Fangya before demanding, “Liu Fangya, what exactly is going on?”  

When he first received her reply, he had assumed she had handled the matter well.  

With a loud thud, Liu Fangya dropped to her knees. Her face was deathly pale, and her body trembled as she stammered, “Third Highness… T-This servant doesn’t know what happened either… Qin Muyao has returned to the Marquis of Zhongyi’s residence…”  

She had clearly sent assassins after Qin Muyao.  

The killers had even reported back—Qin Muyao was dead.  

So why… why was she alive again?  

A teacup flew across the room and smashed against Liu Fangya’s forehead.  

“Useless! Absolutely useless!” 

If not for his Father Emperor’s watchful eyes, he would have eliminated Qin Muyao himself long ago.  

Why had he even bothered entrusting the task to this piece of trash?

Fu Kuangze shot her a chilling glare before finally withdrawing his gaze.  

“This is your last chance.”  

“If you fail again… you know what to do.”  

With that, he flicked his sleeve and strode out.  

Liu Fangya was drenched in cold sweat, her limbs weak as she collapsed onto the floor.  

Her lips trembled as she muttered, “Qin Muyao… why are you still alive?”  

Then, as if something inside her snapped, her expression twisted into one of pure malice.  

“No… You must die.”  

Bracing herself against the floor, she pushed herself up and left the room.

Hidden in the shadows, Qin Muyao and Fu Hanzhou listened intently, catching every word exchanged between Fu Kuangze and Liu Fangya.  

At last, the truth was confirmed—Fu Kuangze had given the order for Liu Fangya to kill Xiao Mu.  

Qin Muyao lifted her head, meeting Fu Hanzhou’s gaze.  

Something didn’t make sense.  

Why had Liu Fangya referred to herself as “this servant” before Fu Kuangze?  

Logically speaking, Liu Fangya’s status wasn’t low. She could even be considered nobility.  

So why…?  

Fu Hanzhou, seeing the confusion in her eyes, offered an explanation. “If my guess is correct, the real Liu Fangya is already dead.”  

“The one speaking to Fu Kuangze just now was a shadow guard impersonating her.”  

It was a common practice for princes to train shadow guards to carry out their bidding.  

Even the Emperor turned a blind eye to it.  

However, using a shadow guard to assassinate a noble’s child and then having them replace that noble?  

That was absolutely forbidden.  

Such an act would be seen as a direct challenge to the Emperor’s authority.  

In the past, a few had dared to attempt this, but once exposed, regardless of their status, they had all been executed immediately. 

This Fu Kuangze was quite brave.  

Qin Muyao, after digesting the information, was utterly stunned. She blurted out, “What? There’s even a trick like this?”  

She had genuinely never considered such a thing.  

Fu Hanzhou’s slender fingers landed on her head, effortlessly pushing her away as he stated coolly, “This is explicitly forbidden under Chu Kingdom’s laws. Fu Kuangze knows this, yet he still dares to do it.”  

Since Qin Muyao was a mermaid and unfamiliar with the laws of Great Chu, he took the time to explain it to her in a calm, matter-of-fact tone.

Qin Muyao tilted her head and asked, “If he knowingly broke the law, what’s the punishment?”  

This was the man responsible for Xiao Mu’s death…

Fu Hanzhou let out a soft chuckle, his lips curving slightly as he replied at an unhurried pace, “Public execution—beheading.”  

However, knowing his Father Emperor’s temperament, he was certain the Emperor couldn’t bear it and would be absolutely reluctant to go through with it.
