Chapter 5
Editor and proofreader: Fherlie Paguio
Ye Qingyun: “……”
The burly man winked flirtatiously at him.
Ye Qingyun: “……No, thank you.”
Ye Qingyun maintained a blank expression as the chef casually scooped him a couple of free dishes. The chef looked at him, chuckled, and gave him a bit of everything.
“Don’t mind him; I’ll treat you,” the chef said confidently.
Ye Qingyun: “……Thank you.”
The dishes were already in his hands, and there was no way to return them. Ye Qingyun could only say to the chef, “I’ll pay you back once I earn some contribution points.”
The chef waved his hand dismissively and scooped him a bowl of soup.
As Ye Qingyun turned around with his lunch, he found many people staring at him, clapping on the chairs beside them, inviting him to come sit.
Ye Qingyun: “…… These space pirates were too enthusiastic.”
Normally, Ye Qingyun would have chosen a seat next to someone who looked easy to talk to, taking the chance to ask a few questions and understand the situation on the pirate ship.
But now, he was a devoted side character focusing solely on the scummy protagonist, completely ignoring everyone else’s advances. He couldn’t do that; he had to stay in character.
Every table was occupied, leaving no chance for a solo table, so he had to share one. Ye Qingyun glanced around and picked out a young man.
The young man looked quite handsome, but he had his head down, eating, and didn’t spare a glance at Ye Qingyun, seemingly disdainful of him.
You’re the one, comrade.
Ye Qingyun sat across from the young man, who clearly paused for a moment and then looked up at Ye Qingyun with a tight frown.
The young man only glanced at Ye Qingyun once before looking down again to continue eating, clearly not wanting to say a word to him.
Ye Qingyun, of course, couldn’t take the initiative to speak and silently ate his meal. However, the other patrons were too enthusiastic, and drinks were continually sent over to their table. Ye Qingyun’s refusals were useless, and soon the table was piled high with beverages.
Finally, the young man couldn’t take it anymore and slammed his hand on the table: “Are you all done? Is this ever going to end?”
The others weren’t afraid of him: “What’s the matter, jealous? Want me to get you a bottle too?”
“I’m not jealous at all,” the young man sneered, glancing at Ye Qingyun, “He doesn’t even have contribution points; what’s there to be jealous of?”
“We’re all on the same ship; who doesn’t know who? Someone immediately tried to undermine him: ‘Jealous that he has a good relationship with the boss? You’ve liked the boss for so long, but he has never looked your way.” That person paused for a moment and sighed, “That’s just the difference in looks.'”
Ye Qingyun: “……”
This was still his ‘rival’?
The young man suddenly felt exposed, and his expression darkened. He shouted at the chatterbox, “Shut up!”
After that, the young man glared at Ye Qingyun and sarcastically said, “What are you looking at? No matter what, I got on this ship by my ability; what about you?” The young man stared at Ye Qingyun’s face and sneered, “You only have a pretty face; you’re just a vase.”
Ye Qingyun lowered his eyes.
He had heard the term “vase” countless times before and could say it was one of the things he disliked hearing the most.
Thus, he knew that the best way to deal with people like this was to defeat them in their familiar territory so they wouldn’t dare to look down on him again.
“What ability do you have?” Ye Qingyun asked.
“Me?” The young man snorted coldly, “I can hack into the target’s terminal to confirm their location, so our pirate crew can meet with them.”
A proud look appeared on the young man’s face, and his gaze toward Ye Qingyun became even more contemptuous: “I’m not like you, relying solely on looks. I’m a core technical staff member; Pu Tian wouldn’t dare treat me harshly.”
After listening to the young man, Ye Qingyun casually replied, “Oh, locating people? I could do that when I was five.”
As soon as these words left his mouth, everyone burst out laughing.
“Beauty, don’t make such grand claims; do you think it’s as simple as learning one plus one equals two?”
“Even though you look good, if you compare yourself to him and end up getting slapped in the face, I can’t help you.”
The crowd’s trust in the young man made him even more smug. He said to Ye Qingyun, “Since you can do it too, do you dare to compete with me? If you lose, you have to voluntarily get off the ship.”
This was just what Ye Qingyun was looking for. He agreed and then said, “If you lose… I want all your contribution points.”
The young man didn’t seem to think he would lose at all and quickly agreed.
