Chapter 20 Liu Kaiyuan
Li Yao looked at the hands holding hers and then relaxed, nodding slightly. On the other side, Zeng Bailing, who had arrived in town, watched as the doctor stitched up her leg. She cried as the doctor stitched, and the doctor patiently endured it, knowing that a young girl would be unhappy about having a scar on her leg. “Girl, I’m done stitching. Stop crying. Remember to change the dressing on time every day, and come back in 10 days to have the stitches removed.” Zeng Bailing thought about the stitching scene just now and refused again.
“Doctor, take out the stitches now! It’s been a week, it’s already grown into the flesh. It will definitely hurt to remove them.” The doctor was almost amused. He glanced at Liu Kaiyuan, who was beside him. “You don’t need to come. The village doctor who brought you can remove the stitches.” When Liu Kaiyuan heard this, he felt like he had been pricked by a needle. He immediately stood up. “I can’t, I don’t know how to remove them.” Now it was Zeng Bailing’s turn to be angry. “I want you to remove them. If you don’t, I’ll report you.” This sentence was like a lit fuse, instantly igniting Liu Kaiyuan’s temper. “I won’t remove them, I won’t remove them. What does it have to do with me? It’s not me who’s in pain.” Zeng Bailing was speechless. She pulled Wang Fang, who was beside her. “Bailing, we still need Dr. Liu to take us back to the village.
We don’t know anyone here. Control your temper.” Wang Fang advised softly. Zeng Bailing was about to get angry, but when she saw the expressions of the doctor and Liu Kaiyuan, she stopped. “Kaiyuan, come with me for a moment. You two wait here. I’ll get some medicine for Kaiyuan to take back to the village.” In the doctor’s office. “Kaiyuan, this won’t do!” Liu Kaiyuan lowered his head and didn’t speak. “Kaiyuan, you can’t live in the past. I saw that girl just now, she was just being a bit dramatic. It’s okay if you remove her stitches.” Liu Kaiyuan was a bit tempted. He whispered, “Uncle Wang, I understand. I’ll try. If it doesn’t work, you can remove them.
” Wang Yuhao finally breathed a sigh of relief. Liu Kaiyuan didn’t say a word on the way back to the village with Zeng Bailing and the others. This aroused Zeng Bailing’s curiosity. When Liu Kaiyuan left, only Zeng Bailing and Wang Fang were left on the ox cart. She couldn’t hold back any longer. “Old Qi, do you know what’s going on with Dr. Liu? I heard the town doctor say that he seems to know how to stitch and remove stitches. Why did he send me to the town hospital then?” Old Qi silently sighed and looked at Liu Kaiyuan’s back. “Little girl, you talk too much. I didn’t want to tell you, but I was afraid you would be careless and expose the child’s wounds.” Zeng Bailing quickly assured him, “I won’t. I was just curious.” Old Qi slowly told the story of Liu Kaiyuan. It turned out that Liu Kaiyuan was also an educated youth who came to the countryside.
Because he knew medicine, he became the village doctor when he arrived, and no one objected. But the bad thing was that a list of people who could return to the city came down, and our village got one quota. But there were two people who passed the return to the city test, Liu Kaiyuan and another named Wang Lei. After a village-wide vote, Liu Kaiyuan was chosen to return to the city. At that time, no one objected. But on the day before they were supposed to return to the village, something happened. A girl ran out from Liu Kaiyuan’s place and said that he had taken advantage of her while examining her wound. This caused a stir. Although everyone didn’t really believe it, there was no evidence for this kind of thing. So, the quota to return to the village went to Wang Lei. After Wang Lei returned to the city, the girl changed her story, saying that she had said the wrong thing in a moment of excitement. Her family was ashamed of her and married her far away.
She only came back during the New Year. A few days later, news came from Liu Kaiyuan’s hometown, saying that his mother had passed away and he wanted to see his child one last time, but he didn’t even get to see her. Liu Kaiyuan was devastated at that time. He lay in bed for several days without eating or drinking. It was the doctor who stitched up Zeng Bailing today who persuaded him to eat. After listening to Old Qi’s story, Zeng Bailing’s impulsive nature flared up again. “Could it be that Wang Lei set him up?” Old Qi was choked. It was one thing to know, but it was another to discuss it privately. No one but Zeng Bailing would say it so openly.
Wang Fang, who was about to faint again, changed the subject. “Old Qi, so that’s why Dr. Liu didn’t want to go to the town hospital with Bailing alone, right?” Old Qi didn’t say anything, he just nodded and continued driving the ox cart. “We’re here, get off.” After Wang Fang got off, the people from the educated youth point were just having dinner. When they heard the noise, the female educated youths helped send Zeng Bailing back to the dormitory. Ye Nanyi had just come out of her space and also heard the noise. But she didn’t go out because she had secretly gotten some soybeans today and had just finished planting them in her space.
She was so tired that she didn’t even want to move a finger. If she wasn’t afraid of being suspected, she really wouldn’t want to light a fire to boil water! Ye Nanyi lay in bed, feeling a bit hopeless. She thought about how she could just lie down and do nothing. It would be great if she didn’t have to work. After thinking for a long time, she couldn’t come up with a good solution, so she went to meet the Duke of Zhou. After harvesting soybeans for half a month, they finally finished and put them all in the warehouse.
The captain announced a two-day break. Ye Nanyi heard the news and decided to go to town tomorrow and go to the mountains the day after. Plans are easily disrupted. Just as Ye Nanyi got up early and was on her way to town, she saw Qi Da’wa and his mother, Wang Xiulian, acting sneaky. Ye Nanyi stopped and thought that she should watch these two today. Everyone was busy harvesting soybeans recently, and the two of them didn’t have time to cause trouble. Now that they had stopped, Yu Chunxiang would be alone. The timeline was already messed up, it might not be the same time as before. Ye Nanyi followed Qi Da’wa and his mother, and sure enough, she saw Yu Chunxiang washing clothes by the river. Ye Nanyi, who was sharp-eyed, also noticed Li Yao hiding behind a big tree not far away.
Ye Nanyi was a bit incredulous. No, just you two can subdue Qi Da’wa? Ye Nanyi was skeptical, but she still observed. Qi Da’wa carefully moved behind Yu Chunxiang, just about to push her into the river. Yu Chunxiang was prepared and pushed the basin aside.
Qi Da’wa missed his target. “Splash!” Qi Da’wa fell into the river alone. Then, Ye Nanyi noticed that Qi Da’wa’s mother, Wang Xiulian, was gone. Ye Nanyi guessed that she had gone to call for help, otherwise, how would they have evidence to force Yu Chunxiang? By the time Ye Nanyi finished thinking, Qi Da’wa was about to get ashore. Li Yao, holding a stick, rushed out. Yu Chunxiang and Li Yao exchanged glances and prepared to use the stick to drown Qi Da’wa in the water. Ye Nanyi was terrified. These two were so bold! If she didn’t have her space, she wouldn’t dare to empty her house and come to the countryside. Don’t underestimate the police’s ability to solve cases.
Ye Nanyi quickly stepped forward to pull the two of them. “You’re crazy! If he dies here, you two won’t be able to escape. His mother will bring people here soon. Run!”
