The store manager who had witnessed this scene wasn’t surprised. The first time Ji Ran had come to the store to board his dog, he had been fully covered yet the store’s female staff still recognized him. However, because the pet shop had confidentiality measures in place, only a few people knew that Ji Ran’s dog was being boarded there, and the store’s staff were all rational fans.
At fifteen or sixteen what girl would not adore Scorching Sun’s Ji Ran? This Chinese boy band, known as “Scorching Sun” debuted six years ago when Ji Ran was only sixteen. He shot to fame with his breathtaking looks, and now, at twenty-two he had already become a super popular celebrity in the entertainment with 60 million Weibo followers.
The dog he had boarded at the pet shop was a male Husky named Caesar.
Gu Yingying hadn’t expected her brother to be a celebrity. She had only been in this world for two days, and though she had the memories of this body, the person whose life she was living wasn’t a fan of idols, so she had no idea about Ji Ran’s identity. It was only when he mentioned signing autographs and giving out albums that she realized—this glowing young man she had seen in the magic mirror was actually her brother… a huge star!
“Yes!”
She nodded excitedly, her eyes brimming with joy. Her enthusiasm delighted Ji Ran. Despite the pressure his company had been putting on him and the harsh words from online trolls, seeing such a cute fan lifted his spirits. He smiled behind his mask, his peach blossom eyes narrowing in a charming grin.
“Meng ge, could you get me some paper and pen? I’ll sign for her.”
(Ge- older brother)
Seeing Ji Ran was in a good mood at this moment, Brother Meng nodded and happily making things easy for the little girl. He took out the colored paper cards and pens used in the store and handed them to Ji Ran.
“There are too many people here, and I’m worried someone might recognize me. Let’s go sign by Caesar’s place?”
Ji Ran suggested, holding the paper and pen. He found his fan to be incredibly cute—there was a sense of inexplicable closeness about her. Unlike most fans who screamed when they saw him making him run off, this girls was calm and genuinely adorable.
“Mm-hmm.” Gu Yingying nodded, then followed Ji Ran like a little follower, trailing behind him as they went to the room where Caesar was being boarded.
Caesar was a full-grown Husky, already four years old. Ji Ran had gotten him when he was eighteen to help relieve stress from his busy work life. When he wasn’t on tour, Caesar stayed in his villa, but recently with Ji Ran on a concert tour, Caesar had been boarded at the pet shop. This was the first time in a while Ji Ran had come to visit.
The room where Caesar was kept was spacious. Besides Caesar, there were other dogs, including a pure white Samoyed playing with him. As soon as Caesar saw Ji Ran, he excitedly ran over, leaping into Ji Ran’s arms, who laughed and embraced his large dog happily.
Bastet who had been sitting on Gu Yingying’s shoulder, curiously glanced at the Husky a few times, feeling a bit confused. Back in Anlan Continent, Bastet had never seen a spirit beast that looked quite like this. Why did this dog seem… a little silly?
Gu Yingying had always liked all animals with long fur, and her eyes sparkled as she watched Caesar, then glanced at Ji Ran, who was holding and petting Caesar. He removed his mask, revealing his face which was so exquisitely handsome it could make anyone scream in admiration.
No wonder he was the face of his boy band. Ji Ran had that fair, almost translucent skin, a clean and radiant complexion. His high nose bridge, as fans often said, looked like it was made for sliding down, with stunningly beautiful deep blue eyes and thick, long lashes that seemed to make hearts flutter with every blink. Especially with his naturally pink lips which were the same shade as Gu Yingying’s—unpainted, just soft and natural.
Even though Gu Yingying had seen plenty of handsome men in Anlan Continent, she was still captivated by the beauty of the brother in front of her, staring in a daze for a while.
After petting Caesar for a bit, Ji Ran remembered his little fan. He turned around and saw her frozen in awe, making him smile even more warmly. His eyes sparkled with a gentle, captivating charm.
“I’ll sign for you now. What’s your name? Is there anything you want me to wish for you?”
He stood up, Caesar sitting obediently at his feet, holding a pink card and pen in his delicate hands, his fingers looking clean and graceful.
“My name is Gu Yingying. I hope I can find my brother.”
At this point, Gu Yingying realized that if she directly told him he was her real brother, he probably wouldn’t believe her, so she decided to approach him slowly and eventually share her story.
“Then I wish you all the best. I hope you find your brother soon.”
Ji Ran lowered his head, writing his blessing for Gu Yingying on the card before carefully signing his name. To be honest, his flowery signature left her staring at it for a while, unable to recognize the characters.
“Here, do you want to take a photo?”
Since he had already given her an autograph, Ji Ran thought it wouldn’t hurt to take a picture too. He felt a little strange today—he rarely took the initiative to ask for photos with fans, but looking at this young girl, he couldn’t help but ask.
“Is that okay?” Gu Yingying immediately brightened up. With a photo, she could finally know Ji Ran’s name.
“Of course,” Ji Ran replied.
They quickly took the photo. Ji Ran, who was standing beside Gu Yingying, was quite tall, at least 1.8 meters. He leaned slightly forward, having already taken off his hat. He leaned in closer to her side, and with a snap, the photo was saved on Gu Yingying’s phone, along with Bastet who was perched on her shoulder.
“Your cat is so well-behaved. This is the first time I’ve seen a black cat, and its eyes… they look just like mine.”
After seeing the photo, Ji Ran noticed the cat on Gu Yingying’s shoulder. He was a dog person, and didn’t typically pay much attention to cats, but now he saw that his deep blue eyes were strikingly similar to the cat’s.
“Yeah, his name is Bastet. He’s really smart.” Gu Yingying nodded, also noticing the resemblance between Ji Ran and Bastet. She felt an odd sense of fate. It seemed that Bastet had such good luck—he appeared, and she had found her real brother!
Meanwhile, as Gu Yingying was trying to get closer to her real brother, at the Gu family home, Gu Xian who had been busy at work, unexpectedly left the office early. By the time he got home, it was already seven o’clock, an hour and a half after Gu Yingying had finished school.
Gu Xian, always impeccably dressed in his suit was known for his serious, no-nonsense demeanor. As the future heir to the Gu family, he had received elite education from a very young age. His maturity was beyond his years, and by the age of eighteen, he had already joined the company. At just twenty-four, he was set to inherit the entire Gu Corporation, a stark contrast to his father, who lived off dividends.
