Chapter 51: Anesthesia
Shen Yunhe followed Shen Yunshuang to Lin Yiming’s house. Shen Yunshuang was trembling with fear, carefully glancing at her older brother’s cold expression.
“Big brother, it shouldn’t be him.”
Shen Yunshuang didn’t want to admit that she had been wrong about the person, wrong about love.
Shen Yunhe remained silent, pursing his lips as he walked toward the alley to the east. Once they arrived, he stopped the car at the entrance.
“Get out. Lead the way.”
“Okay!”
Shen Yunshuang hurriedly got out of the car and ran to lead the way, with Shen Yunhe following closely behind. They stopped in front of a run-down courtyard.
“Big brother, it’s here!”
Shen Yunhe looked at the tightly closed door, kicked it open with his long leg, and stepped inside. The room was quiet and old, but it was very clean. Everything was neatly arranged, and a few pairs of shoes on the floor were all facing the same direction.
Shen Yunhe observed the surroundings, feeling a strange unease.
“Has he ever been a soldier?”
“No, he was in the countryside before. He only came out after getting into university.”
Shen Yunhe felt even stranger now, recalling how Lin Yiming had repeatedly wiped the plates and chopsticks at the restaurant. Born in the countryside, yet having obsessive cleanliness, it seemed odd to him.
Everything was arranged so neatly, almost as if the person had obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Shen Yunhe and Shen Yunshuang searched the entire house but didn’t find anyone. Then, they noticed a basement underneath the house, dark and damp. Inside, all the necessary living supplies were neatly arranged. On the table, various surgical tools were neatly placed, gleaming coldly under the faint light.
Jiang Huaijin lay on the ground with his eyes closed. After a while, he opened his eyes and sat up, curiously looking around at his surroundings.

A man stood in front of a basin of water, slowly washing his hands. He had been washing them for half an hour and was still rubbing them incessantly.
What a weirdo!
Next to him was a syringe of anesthetic. Jiang Huaijin quietly reached over and grasped it in his hand.
Lin Yiming took a white towel from the side to dry his hands, then turned to look at Jiang Huaijin with a proud smile and said:
“Kid, are you scared? Now that you’re in my hands, I will take my time torturing you. Especially since you’re such a beautiful kid. Your dad is probably out there, acting like a madman, searching for you. If he knew I had tortured you to the point of being a broken doll, he would be so desperate, hahaha…”
Jiang Huaijin’s face revealed a cute smile. He slowly stood up and walked forward, step by step.
“You’re right, I don’t want to make my parents sad. So let’s make it quick!”
“What did you say?”
Lin Yiming hadn’t processed what the kid meant by that when he suddenly felt a needle stab into his waist. The needle tip was pressing deeper, causing him to gasp in pain and take a few steps back before collapsing to the ground, completely drained of strength.
Jiang Huaijin shook the syringe in his hand, smiling with his cute little tiger teeth showing.
“You’re a doctor, so this is anesthetic, right? It’s my first time using it, and I don’t know how much to give you. How about I give you one more shot?”
As Jiang Huaijin walked toward him, the corner of his lips curled into an evil smile.
“No, no… This isn’t something to play with. Stop it!”
Lin Yiming didn’t understand when the kid had gotten the anesthetic and managed to inject it into his waist. If this kid kept injecting him with it, he was finished.
Jiang Huaijin was captivated by the surgical knives neatly arranged on the table. He ran over and picked up a sharp scalpel, asking Lin Yiming:
“Is this a surgical knife? The kind used for dissecting corpses? Awesome! I love it!”
“No! That’s not something a kid should play with! Put it down!”
Lin Yiming feared he might use the scalpel to kill him. By now, his lower body had completely lost sensation, and this kid could easily kill him.
“No!”
Jiang Huaijin grinned, holding the sharp scalpel, and the light coming through the window flickered across his pale, tender face, making Lin Yiming shiver with fear.
Only then did he realize something was off. Ever since he brought this kid into the dim basement, he hadn’t cried or thrown a tantrum. He showed no fear at all, and even seemed excited by the surgical knife. This was not the behavior of a normal child.
Lin Yiming had some psychology knowledge from his classmates, and it occurred to him that this kid might have a mental illness. He was completely different from when he first arrived at the hotel. Back then, Jiang Huaijin was polite and well-behaved.
This version of Jiang Huaijin felt evil, treating human life like grass. Lin Yiming felt a heaviness in his head and wanted to sleep. Crap, the anesthetic was taking effect. He fought to stay awake.
“Who are you?”
“Jin.”
Jiang Huaijin casually answered his question, playing with the scalpel. Lin Yiming knew his name. Before arriving at the hotel, Shen Yunshuang had introduced her family to him.
“You’re Jiang Huaijin.”
Jiang Huaijin frowned and stubbornly replied: “Didn’t I say? I’m Jin, not Jiang Huaijin. Can’t you understand?!”
Lin Yiming struggled to keep his eyelids open. “Jin is Jiang Huaijin!”
Suddenly, Jiang Huaijin’s gaze turned fierce.
“No, I’m me, and he’s him. If you keep mixing us up, I’ll kill you!”
Lin Yiming was completely sure now that this kid had mental issues. He had split himself into two people. The child standing before him was dangerous, but Lin Yiming could no longer hold on. He passed out.
Jiang Huaijin observed the man carefully. Then it hit him—this was the scumbag from the last life who had married his aunt. How did he end up with this scumbag and brought to this basement?
Could it be that he was brought here by this man? No wonder he showed up. Jiang Huaijin remembered how his cowardly self-had always hidden whenever faced with things he couldn’t confront.
In his past life, even after dying and becoming a ghost, he watched his family die one by one. His resentment turned him into an evil spirit, but he still couldn’t face the facts. It was then that he first appeared.
After being reborn, he had quietly stayed in Jiang Huaijin’s body, watching his mother play with them, feeling envious. Until Jiang Huaijin became emotionally unstable, he seized the opportunity to take over.
After that, he became more and more unstable in the body, always trying to take control and break free. He wasn’t afraid of his mother finding out, and even if she did, he knew she would only protect him, not harm him.
When he was three, his mother took them to the park. An eight-year-old child came up and pushed Jiang Huairou, who was sitting on the slide, making her cry loudly. His mother angrily went to find the child’s parents to reason with them, but the parents scolded her instead, saying she should’ve watched her kids better.
Jiang Huaijin was furious because his mother and sister had been bullied. After taking over, he climbed up the slide and pushed the child down. The child’s parents were so angry they tried to fight with his mother. Jiang Huaijin pulled out a knife and held it to the parents, scaring them into running away with their child.
After that, his mother realized something was wrong and found out about his existence. She still loved him, always able to distinguish him from Jiang Huaijin, and would often hold him and call him “Jin.”
