Chapter 79: Gu Yalan Gets Caught

After getting off the train, Ji’s father took the Shen family straight to the hospital. His mother was currently hospitalized there. Ji Wanting stood at the door of the ward, not daring to go in.

“Report it to the police, let her rot in jail!” Ji’s Yunfeng father said coldly.

Ji Old Lady, unwilling to accept it, yelled in frustration.

“Gu Yalan did this with the intent to kill! And now, she’ll only go to jail?!”

Ji Yunfeng father sighed, explaining, “Mother, Gu Yalan’s actions were indeed attempted murder, but our eldest sister is fine. The police can’t charge her with intentional murder. That’s how the law works sometimes. It’s really helpless!”

Ji Wanting bit her lip. “I’m fine because someone saved me. If no one had saved me, I’d be dead by now. Just because I didn’t die, does she get to escape the death penalty? Why is it so unfair? I hate this!”

In the bathroom, Jiang Huaijin stood calmly by the door, a murderous intent flickering in his eyes.

“Gu Yalan, the law can’t kill you, but I can.”

As soon as she entered the room, she immediately put on a smile and walked over to Ji Old Lady’s side.

“I had a dream. I dreamt of my daughter, Wanting.”

Ji Old Lady grabbed her hand tightly and glared at her fiercely.

“You’re admitting it without being asked! Did you really think you could hide it from me?!”

Gu Yalan pulled her hand away from the old lady’s grip, standing up and glaring down at her.

“You old witch, you’re trying to trap me!”

Ji Old Lady coldly snorted.

“You’re guilty, and now you’re feeling guilty!”

Gu Yalan let out a cold laugh, bracing herself on the bed and facing Ji Old Lady’s face, directly admitting, “Yes, it was me. You’re a dying old woman. What can you do to me? I could kill her, and I could kill you too. Since you care so much about your daughter, why not go down to the underworld and keep her company?”

“Gu Yalan, what are you trying to do?!”

Ji Old Lady glared at her angrily. Gu Yalan grabbed a blanket and threw it over Ji Old Lady’s head. But before she could do anything else, someone kicked her from behind. Gu Yalan looked up and saw Ji Yunfeng and Ji Changfeng standing in front of her, followed by a group of strangers.

Gu Yalan, panicking, quickly explained, “Yunfeng, let me explain. I saw that the old lady was cold, so I covered her with a blanket. It’s not what you think!”

Ji Wanting stepped forward, looking down at her from above.

“Gu Yalan, do you remember me?”

Gu Yalan looked up at her, and the more she looked, the more familiar she became. A name slipped out of her mouth.

“Ji Wanting! You’re not dead!”

“Gu Yalan, I’m not dead. I’m sorry to disappoint you.”

“You… you all…” Gu Yalan looked at the crowd, suddenly realizing she had been tricked. Ji’s father had reported it to the police in advance, and two officers pushed the door open.

“Who is Gu Yalan?”

Seeing the police, Gu Yalan scrambled to Ji Old Lady’s bedside.

“Mother, mother, please save me! I didn’t do it on purpose. Everything is my mother’s doing, it has nothing to do with me. Please, after all these years I’ve spent with you, help me!”

Ji Old Lady forcefully shook her off, angrily scolding her.

“Shut up! Don’t call me ‘mother.’ If it weren’t for you two murderous women, my daughter would be the one here by my side. You harmed my daughter and now want to kill me? You want me to spare you? Dream on!”

Gu Yalan got up from the floor, wiped her tears, and looked around at everyone.

“Fine, you all think that just because there’s a couple of police officers, you can take me down? You’re too naive. Before long, someone will come to rescue me. Just wait. I won’t let you get away with this!”

The two officers stepped forward, escorting Gu Yalan out of the room. Ji Yunfeng furrowed his brow.

“What does Gu Yalan mean by that? Who’s going to come to rescue her?”
