Chapter 23 The Warehouse is Full of Silver
The Bai family’s head accountant, Zhang, was indeed a cunning businessman. He had divided the warehouse into two places. Besides the rice warehouse they had just moved from, there was another one behind the Bai family’s manor.
That warehouse held all the Bai family’s wealth accumulated over decades.
Perhaps because there were too many precious things inside, there were also many guards.
From entering the manor to the back mountain, there were over a hundred guards stationed. At the entrance of the warehouse on the back mountain, there were even traps.
Fu Yanting’s light skills were excellent. He carried Chu Chenyin, moving through the night like a ghost, silent and unseen.
Chu Chenyin held onto his waist, feeling the wind whistling past her ears. When she opened her eyes again, they were already at the entrance of the warehouse, in front of the trap.
There were five people with strong martial arts skills guarding the entrance.
These five people had fierce expressions. They were used to killing and setting fires, and they were hired by Zhang, the head accountant, to guard the gate. Their purpose was to ensure that any thieves who approached the gate would be killed without mercy.
“Who are you?” They surrounded Chu Chenyin, holding large swords.
Chu Chenyin’s eyes turned cold. She took out the army dagger from her waist, quickly stepped forward, and swiftly stabbed the necks of two of them.
The knives flashed, blood splattered, and the two men fell to the ground with a thud before they could speak.
Although Chu Chenyin’s light skills were not as good as Fu Yanting’s, her killing skills were no less than his.
From a young age, she had trained most in how to kill quickly.
Hand-to-hand combat, firearms, and grappling were all her specialties.
The bright red blood drifted in the wind, and a strong smell of blood filled the air.
The remaining three were shocked and immediately gripped their swords, slashing at Chu Chenyin.
Chu Chenyin immediately dodged to the side.
At this moment, a cold sword light flashed, and with a “crack,” the heads of the three men rolled off.
Chu Chenyin looked up and saw Fu Yanting standing in front of her, holding a blood-stained long sword.
His eyes were cold and deep, like a wolf’s, and his whole body exuded a terrifying aura that made people shudder.
At that moment, Chu Chenyin actually saw him riding a horse and fighting bravely. Yes, a young general should be like this.
She gripped the army dagger in her hand, did a backflip, and fiercely stabbed a fish that had slipped through the net.
The sharp tip of the dagger pierced the carotid artery in the neck, and blood spurted out.
The man covered his neck, but before he could draw the sword in his hand, he fell heavily to the ground, his body askew.
Chu Chenyin stepped over the bodies, pointing to the arrow ahead, “General Fu, there’s a trap ahead.”
Fu Yanting leaped forward, used his sword to pick up a corpse on the ground, and with a wave of his hand, threw the corpse into the trap.
The trap outside the door was instantly triggered, and a thousand arrows flew out, all hitting the corpse.
“It’s just a fake, let’s go in.” Fu Yanting strode ahead of Chu Chenyin, unconsciously protecting her behind him.
Chu Chenyin followed him to the door.
The lock on the door was much better than the lock on the rice warehouse before, it was a fish-shaped three-spring lock.
But in front of Chu Chenyin’s lock-picking skills, these locks were nothing.
She took out a bag of lock-picking tools, squatted down, and fiddled with the lock core. After a while, there was a click, and the lock opened.
Fu Yanting stepped forward and pushed open the door. It was pitch black inside.
Chu Chenyin threw the opened lock aside and couldn’t help but sigh in her heart. A small merchant’s anti-theft awareness was actually stronger than the imperial palace.
She took out her flashlight and slowly walked towards the warehouse.
Fu Yanting held his sword, facing her back, and kept a close eye on the outside of the warehouse.
The Bai family’s warehouse was bigger than Chu Chenyin had imagined. She walked dozens of steps into the warehouse.
The layout of the warehouse was very neat.
First, there was a whole row of jewelry. Unlike the jewelry of those treacherous officials in the capital, which were mostly pearls, emeralds, gold, and silver, the shelves in front of her were filled with rare red agate, malachite, turquoise, red coral, and so on.
Chu Chenyin took a quick look. If these jewels and jewelry were sold in modern times, they could buy at least one building.
So many good things, these Bai family members really knew how to hide them.
Chu Chenyin didn’t stand on ceremony, she strode forward and moved all these things into her space.
After moving all the things in the first row, there were jade jewelry and jade carvings inside.
She moved them all in.
After all the things in front were moved, she walked further in and saw a pile of silver.
Perhaps because the Bai family had some special preferences, they had exchanged all their gold for silver.
The entire warehouse was full of gleaming silver.
