Chapter 112: Please Don’t Say Anymore
“Annoying!” muttered Michako, frowning as she ruffled her hair in frustration at the thought of confessing her feelings to her brother. “Although I’ve prepared myself, doing this is…”
With her head hung low, she sighed but soon put on a smile, taking a deep breath and whispering, “I’ve made up my mind, so no more hesitating. Things are already like this, it can’t get any worse. Besides, if I don’t do this, brother will never understand my feelings…”
“Even if I’m rejected, it’s okay. No matter how harshly I’m spoken to, I’ll endure it. But I won’t give up. I’m not the foolish university girl who would seek death after one rejection six years later. Whether it’s clinging desperately or using any means necessary – take on my shape, Onii-chan.”
As she murmured, Michako suddenly seemed to notice something, furrowing her brows and looking towards the door.
…
“Not going to school today?” Yagi Miyuki wondered, realizing that Michako hadn’t gone to school. “Dad didn’t mention it on the phone either. What’s going on? Is she feeling unwell and came back early without telling Dad?”
Contemplating, Yagi Miyuki reached his sister’s door and knocked gently, saying weakly, “Michako, are you there?”
“Feeling dizzy…” he muttered, leaning against the door, breathing heavily and feeling his vision darken.
“Eh? Brother?” came Michako’s surprised voice from inside. Before Yagi Miyuki could react, the door suddenly opened, causing him to stagger and nearly fall.
“Eh? What’s wrong, brother?” Michako asked in shock, seeing her brother’s pale face and his unstable state.
Yagi Miyuki, trying to muster his strength, waved his hand and said, “It’s nothing, just caught a cold. But why didn’t you go to school? Are you feeling unwell?”
Looking at Michako in her St. Cronia High School uniform, already quite developed for her age at fourteen, he asked with concern, noticing her pale face, “You look a bit pale. What’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing…” Michako replied, trying to hide her own discomfort.

Michako chuckled and rolled her eyes, her cheeks flushing slightly as she said softly, “It’s just… that thing, which happens to girls every month. I guess I ate something cold yesterday and have been in pain since this morning. I think it’s menstrual cramps? It was so painful I couldn’t bear it, so I left school after the morning classes… No! The real question is, are you okay, brother? You look so pale.”
Halfway through, Michako shook her head, stepping forward and reaching out to touch her brother’s forehead in concern.
“It’s okay,” Yagi Miyuki assured, avoiding her hand and stepping back. “It’s just a little fever, I’ll be fine with some medicine. Since you’re not feeling well, you should rest in bed.”
As he spoke, Yagi Miyuki couldn’t help but scold, “Really, you know when it’s coming and still eat cold things. Sigh… go lie down, do you want me to make you some brown sugar water?”
“I already made some and drank it, now I feel much better,” Michako replied, shaking her head and looking at her brother, who seemed to be struggling to talk. “Brother, you don’t seem to have just a common cold. Have you checked your temperature?”
“I have, it’s not a big deal,” Yagi Miyuki replied, taking a deep breath and steadying his wobbly body as he turned to leave. “Don’t worry, Michako. Just rest, I’ll be fine after taking some fever medicine.”
Feeling he might faint if he didn’t lie down soon, he thought about how quickly the flu symptoms had worsened.
“Be careful,” Michako said, rushing to support her staggering brother, dragging him towards her bed as she urged, “Don’t wander around, lie down. I’ll get you some medicine. Maybe we should go to the hospital?”
“It’s not that serious,” Yagi Miyuki wanted to refuse but gave in due to his weak state, lying down on her bed.
Feeling the softness of the bed, he relaxed, closed his eyes, and lay still. He now understood how Ninomiya-senpai felt the day before, wanting to sleep first and deal with everything else later.
“Hey, don’t fall asleep now, please take your medicine first,” Michako pleaded.

Michako gently placed her hand on her brother’s forehead, then lowered her head to touch their foreheads together. Before Yagi Miyuki could react, she anxiously said, “Brother, has your brain gone haywire? It’s not a big problem? It must be almost 40 degrees, right?”
“Ah?” Yagi Miyuki, half-squinting his eyes, murmured in a somewhat bewildered tone, “Michako, can you measure fever with your forehead? When I did this to Ninomiya-senpai last night, all I could tell was that it felt very hot, nothing else conclusive.”
Michako’s lips twitched in response, her heart aching. Biting her lip but still managing a forced smile, she gently caressed her brother’s cheek, soothing him in a soft and tender voice, “Brother, just hold on a little longer. I’m going to get you some fever medicine. Don’t fall asleep, okay?”
“Okay…” Yagi Miyuki mumbled in a daze, his thoughts chaotic, barely managing to say, “Thanks, Michako. I’m sorry to trouble you. Ah…”
He then suddenly muttered in relief, “So this is how Ninomiya-senpai felt last night? Lucky… I’m glad I went to take care of her…”
No more… please don’t say anymore…
Michako’s already pale face grew even paler. She bit her lip, gazing at her brother, half-leaning on her, barely able to keep his eyes open. Taking a deep breath and clenching her fists, she forced herself to continue in a gentle tone, “Brother, I’ll be back soon, just bear with it a little longer.”
