Chapter 182: The Small Woods Beside the School Building
“Phew…”
Standing at the school entrance, Yagi Miyuki watched as his sister Michako walked towards the middle school section and disappeared into the crowd. He rubbed his forehead in frustration, sighing, “Such a tiring morning.”
“Yagi-kun… Your relationship with Michako is really close. Should I call it deep sibling love?”
Hearing a soft female voice from behind, Yagi Miyuki turned around to see his former girlfriend, Hoshino Seiya, whom he and Michako had left behind earlier.
“That kid just likes to play around. Don’t take her words seriously. What she said earlier was just a childish outburst.”
Yagi Miyuki coughed awkwardly, trying to explain. Michako’s intense reaction upon seeing him toppled over by Hoshino Seiya was far from normal sisterly behavior. Hoshino Seiya must be suspecting something. It seemed widely known that Michako was a bit of a weirdo, but Hoshino probably didn’t know the extent of it yet.
“Childish, huh…”
Hoshino Seiya looked at him with a strange expression, then nodded to herself.
She must have thought that Michako knew Yagi Miyuki wouldn’t accept her distorted feelings, so she hadn’t confessed her true intentions yet. Instead, she probably disguised herself as an overly dependent sister to hide her real motives.
“Don’t take advantage of Michako’s dependency to do something strange. I will call the police, you know.”
“Who would do such a thing!”
“Right, right.”
Hoshino Seiya didn’t argue with his denial, nodding as if it made perfect sense. She seemed to trust him not to do anything inappropriate with Michako.
“Let’s go to class. We really are going to be late.”
Saying this, Yagi Miyuki turned to head towards the school building.
“Wait, wait…”
“What is it?” Yagi Miyuki stopped, looking curiously at Hoshino Seiya, who suddenly seemed shy and embarrassed.
“Nothing… let’s go.”
“Strange…”
Yagi Miyuki muttered to himself, puzzled by Hoshino Seiya’s behavior as she walked past him towards the school building. He decided to focus on his studies, hoping for no more distractions.
…
“What can I do for you, Mizuki?”
During lunch, Yagi Miyuki, holding his sister’s lovingly prepared lunch box, faced Mizuki Haruna, a beautiful girl blocking his path. He recalled rejecting her love letter coldly in the past and worried that she, now the festival committee chairperson, might hold a grudge against him.
“That’s right.”
Mizuki Haruna smiled, “Please come to the sixth-floor meeting room this afternoon for a progress report meeting.”
“I understand.”
Yagi Miyuki forced a smile.
He thought about the upcoming festival, which was a disaster waiting to happen for him. He planned to find an excuse to skip school that day.
“Make sure to be on time.”
After Mizuki Haruna left, his classmate Sazawa Heifu excitedly asked about Ninomiya-senpai’s participation in the upcoming contest. Yagi Miyuki, slightly offended, confirmed her participation.
He imagined the male students at school would be envious of him after the festival.
Fearing the worst, Yagi Miyuki headed to the rooftop for lunch.
“Huh?”
Just as he sat down to eat, his phone vibrated. It was a message from Hoshino Seiya: “The small woods beside the school building… come quickly.”
He read the message, worried Hoshino Seiya’s condition might have flared up again.
Without wasting time, Yagi Miyuki quickly left the rooftop and headed straight for the small, dense woods near the school, curious and concerned about Hoshino Seiya’s unusual behavior.
