Chapter 202: Meeting at the Temple
Yagi Miyuki swallowed hard.
Although being involved with five girls was due to circumstances beyond his control, he understood that no matter how crafty he was, he couldn’t be perfect. Continuing this way would only lead to a dead end. But what he didn’t expect was… for it all to come crashing down so quickly.
“Narase-san…”
Yagi Miyuki’s face was stiff, looking in despair at the mermaid girl blocking his path, holding a kitchen knife with slender fingers, her eyes lifeless, and her lips curled into a sickly smile. He was on the verge of breaking down.
“Is there something wrong?”
Yagi Miyuki tried to stay calm, glancing around subtly, then sadly realized he was backed into a corner with no escape.
“Let’s… put the knife down first, it’s dangerous.”
Realizing escape was impossible, Yagi Miyuki forced a strained smile, holding a faint hope.
“Yagi-sensei.”
Narase Mero tilted her head, her dark purple eyes emotionless, but her face sweetly smiling, “I want Yagi-sensei to always be by my side.”
Completely broken—
Yagi Miyuki’s face turned ashen.
The mermaid girl’s previous transformations were nothing compared to now. Those times were impulsive, but now it seemed she maintained her ability to think while transformed.
Yagi Miyuki even suspected that she had already broken down in the bathroom, just enduring it, waiting for this moment to be alone with him.
“Of course.”
Yagi Miyuki took a deep breath, summoning courage from previous close calls, smiling, “Narase-san and I will of course always be friends.”
“Eh?”
Narase Mero blinked, her eyes growing darker, yet her tone remained naive, “At this time, Yagi-sensei, are you still playing word games? It seems I should keep you to myself forever.”
What is going on!
Yagi Miyuki was terrified.
Her transformation, while retaining her original innocent personality, seemed completely broken. Won’t she ever change back?
“What are you talking about?”
Seeing that Narase Mero didn’t immediately react, Yagi Miyuki shifted his gaze, feigning ignorance, “Alright, let’s talk about this later. Please move aside, I need to put the rice in the rice cooker.”
“Um…”
Narase Mero blinked her large eyes, suddenly stepped forward, her smile growing brighter, seriously saying, “Yagi-sensei, are you pretending to be foolish? You promised to always be with me.”
Don’t come any closer!
Yagi Miyuki instantly broke out in a cold sweat. Promised to always be with her? She did say something similar when she last transformed, but it was under duress.
“Of course friends will always be together.”
Yagi Miyuki gritted his teeth, risking his life to say it.
With her now clearly thinking, he couldn’t make promises he couldn’t keep, or else the knife would be justified.
“Yagi-sensei.”
Narase Mero sweetly smiled, her tone gentle, “Let’s get married, shall we?”
Since when did you learn about the concept of marriage!
Yagi Miyuki was sweating profusely.
Previously, Narase Mero only spoke of “being together forever,” never mentioning marriage, so he assumed she didn’t understand the concept.
After all, this naive fish needed him to teach her basic hygiene, and her adoptive mother seemed to be single, so it was understandable that she had limited understanding in this area.
Now suddenly mentioning marriage, did she realize that to be together forever, marriage is the prerequisite?
“Narase-san.”
Yagi Miyuki looked at the pink-haired girl in front of him, her eyes empty yet still rational, and his panicked mind suddenly calmed down
.
“Phew…”
Yagi Miyuki took a deep breath, meeting her gaze unflinchingly, calmly saying, “Narase-san, marriage isn’t something to be decided lightly. We… are not at that stage yet.”
“Yagi-sensei… don’t you like me?”
Narase Mero’s eyes grew darker, her lips trembling, almost tearful, as she stared straight at Yagi Miyuki, slowly raising the knife in her hand.
“I—”
Yagi Miyuki’s eyelid twitched, his mind racing, and he instinctively turned his head away, closing his eyes nervously.
“Yah!”
Then, instead of the expected pain, a clear, angelic voice reached his ears.
“Yagi-kun, Narase-san, what are you two doing here?”
Yagi Miyuki instinctively opened his eyes. Narase Mero, who had been blocking his path, had turned around to look at the approaching girl with an exaggerated figure, long straight black hair, and a smile on her lips.
“Ninomiya-senpai…”
Yagi Miyuki almost burst into tears.
Saved.
But the next moment, his touched feelings froze. His gaze dropped and twitched at the sight of Ninomiya-senpai, who had walked up close… holding a large, rugged cleaver.
She leisurely scanned Yagi Miyuki and Narase Mero, then said teasingly, “Quite cunning, aren’t you? I thought Narase-san was a good girl, but aren’t you just a sneaky cat?”
“Sneaky cat?”
The mermaid girl blinked innocently, then sweetly said, “Yagi-sensei belongs to me.”
“Eh, how scary.”
Ninomiya-senpai narrowed her eyes slightly, somewhat surprised, “Narase-san, you were quiet just now, but do you have ulterior motives?”
“Because I can’t endure it anymore.”
Narase Mero said earnestly.
Watching the back-and-forth between Ninomiya-senpai and the mermaid girl, Yagi Miyuki’s eyelids twitched wildly. Now with verbal sparring, it might turn into a bloody conflict at any moment!
Hesitating for a moment, Yagi Miyuki gritted his teeth, stepped between them, trying to show a composed smile, but the thought of possibly being chopped up made it impossible.
This is too dangerous! Having a harem is way too risky!
Yagi Miyuki’s legs trembled, but he still braced himself and sternly said, “I say… you two, don’t run around with knives…”
“It’s not like that.”
Ninomiya-senpai cheerfully raised the cleaver, leisurely saying, “Michako-chan asked me to get some pork ribs from the fridge in the dining room and chop them up.”
Then she turned to Narase Mero, “Narase-san, weren’t you volunteering to pick garlic sprouts here on the balcony? Michako is already hurrying you.”
Yagi Miyuki’s eyes twitched.
Indeed, his family had a habit of growing some spices in pots. But Narase Mero wasn’t here to pick garlic sprouts, was she? Wasn’t it more about using this as an excuse to confront him with a knife?
