Chapter 207: Why So Skilled
“Michako?”
Looking at his sister lying beside him, appearing as if just woken up by his shock, her cheeks flushed from sleep, rubbing her eyes and sitting up dazedly, Yagi Miyuki’s face turned pale.
“Slap—!”
Without hesitation, he slapped himself, feeling the real pain, then a sincere smile appeared on his face.
“Brother… what are you doing?”
Michako, startled by the slap, looked at her brother beside her in astonishment.
“It’s nothing.”
Yagi Miyuki shook his head, then suddenly became serious, turned his head to look at the wall, and after confirming there was no wedding photo, he sighed in relief.
“Did you have a nightmare, brother?”
Michako tenderly raised her hand to rub Yagi Miyuki’s slightly reddened cheek.
“Yes.”
Yagi Miyuki nodded heavily.
It was an unprecedented nightmare.
Can you imagine waking up to your sister telling you that you’re married to her, and the country has legalized polygamy, marrying all the girls you have ambiguous relationships with? That’s… that’s too unbelievable!
Yagi Miyuki coughed.
This couldn’t be called a nightmare, more like an unrealistic dream, but the fact that his sister was the main character made it terrifying!
“Right.” Yagi Miyuki suddenly frowned, turned his head to look at the sunset outside the window, “Ninomiya-senpai and the others… they’ve gone back, right?”
“Yes.”
Michako nodded, casually saying, “It wasn’t long after you went to your room that the rain stopped. I sent them away and then came to have you all to myself.”
Yagi Miyuki: “……”
Looking at his sister’s smug face, Yagi Miyuki’s mouth twitched, then he recalled the content of his dream.
As the saying goes, what you think about in the day, you dream of at night. Dreaming of Ninomiya-senpai, Sakura Manyu, Hoshino Seiya, Narase Mero, he could understand, as he indeed fancied them… cough, cough!
But dreaming about Michako, what does that mean? That he has feelings for his sister? He’s not that kind of a monstrous person!
“Right.”
Yagi Miyuki’s eyes suddenly lit up.
In the dream, what struck him most was the wedding photo on the wall.
In the photo, besides the five girls who tormented him today, there was another girl who seemed unfamiliar but was enjoying his princess carry. Didn’t this imply that in his harem dream, that girl was the ‘main wife’?
“I should know her.”
Yagi Miyuki touched his chin.
Although her face was buried in his chest in the photo and couldn’t be seen, and her aura felt unfamiliar, he inexplicably felt like he had seen her before.
“Know, but not familiar.” Yagi Miyuki pondered, then shook his head, muttering, “Male creatures really are insatiable. Dreaming about those five is one thing, looking at the pot while eating from the bowl…”
“It’s already past five.”
While Yagi Miyuki was lost in thought, Michako picked up her phone to check the time, stretched, and then looked up at her brother with a bright smile.
“It’s about time to prepare dinner. There’s still a lot of leftovers from lunch, so it’s okay to eat those, right?” Saying this, Michako hummed, “To entertain those people, we’ve used up all our food reserves, we need to go shopping again tomorrow.”
“Let’s go together then.”
Yagi Miyuki rubbed his sister’s head, smiling, “We’ll have those leftovers tonight, after all, Michako went through a lot of trouble to prepare such a lavish meal, I have to… finish it all…”
After saying this subconsciously, Yagi Miyuki suddenly seemed to realize something and fell silent again.
When did he become so skilled? Just speaking casually now seemed slick, yet just half a month ago he was still a straightforward guy.
Yagi Miyuki couldn’t help but feel a bit sentimental.
He’s no longer innocent.
Adversity truly sharpens a person. In the past half a month, surviving in difficult situations, his emotional intelligence had grown leaps and bounds, but… it wasn’t something to be happy about.
“Then I’ll go now… Hmm?”
Michako was about to get out of bed when a ringtone stopped her, and she turned to look at the phone on the bedside table.
It was a phone identical to the one in her hand, lighting up with an incoming call – Ninomiya-senpai.
“Her?”
Michako frowned slightly, showing a wary look, but still turned to her brother, who seemed to be contemplating, and smiled, “Brother, aren’t you going to answer the call?”
“Yes, Ninomiya-senpai probably has something to talk about.”
Yagi Miyuki nodded, casually pressed the answer button, and put the phone to his ear.
“Hello? Ninomiya-senpai, is there something you need?”
“Yagi-kun, have you woken up?”
Ninomiya-senpai’s familiar, clear voice rang out, as always filled with a cheerful tone. She leisurely said, “Having a cute little sister as a pillow, you must have slept soundly, right?”
“Unfortunately, I had a terrible nightmare.” Yagi Miyuki calmly responded, not confirming or denying Ninomiya-senpai’s question, instead, he asked with concern, “Is there something urgent for you to call?”
“Yes.”
Ninomiya-senpai seemed a bit annoyed, “Today I was so mesmerized by you, Yagi-kun, that I forgot my book at your house…”
Hearing this, Yagi Miyuki, who was worried she might say something to stir up trouble, sighed in relief, glancing at Michako beside him who looked alert. He discreetly switched on the speakerphone.
“The book is here, is it?” Yagi Miyuki seriously said, “Alright, I know. I’ll bring it to school on Monday and give it to you.”
“That would be great, thank you.”
Ninomiya-senpai’s tone remained unchanged, continuing with a smile, “If I remember correctly, that book should still be on the round table you moved to the bathroom.”
“Got it, I know.”
“Okay, then I’m counting on you. Oh, and let’s have lunch together on Monday, and you can give me the book then.”
Yagi Miyuki: “……”
He suddenly suspected that Ninomiya-senpai had deliberately “forgotten” her book at his place.
“Um…”
Yagi Miyuki glanced at Michako, who looked displeased, and continued jokingly, “We’ll see then. Ninomiya-senpai, do you want to eat Michako’s cooking again? My sister is amazing, isn’t she?”
“Yes, your sister is amazing.” Ninomiya-senpai agreed, then suddenly lowered her voice, whispering, “Yagi-kun, Michako is beside you, right? I understand, let’s leave it at that. But you have to have lunch with me on Monday.”
Yagi Miyuki: “……”
After hanging up, Yagi Miyuki solemnly told his sister, “Ninomiya-senpai forgot her book here; she asked me to bring it to her on Monday.”
“I see.”
Michako, already smiling, nodded as if she hadn’t heard her brother’s phone conversation, sweetly said, “Then I’ll go prepare dinner now. Brother, just wait a little bit.”
“Okay.”
Yagi Miyuki nodded, got out of bed, and said, “I’m going to run a hot bath; we should take one after dinner.”
After dealing with his sister, Yagi Miyuki went to the bathroom with a tired look on his face, filling the tub with hot water while casually picking up the book left on the round table, which was supposedly Ninomiya-senpai’s. It didn’t seem very thick.
“Mermaids and… Priestesses?”
Seeing the light novel-like title on the book cover, Yagi Miyuki was surprised, instinctively thinking of Narase Mero, and then started flipping through it out of curiosity.
