Chapter 77: Pincer Attack
After lunch, Yagi Miyuki returned to the classroom without any plans to continue working on his assignments. Instead, he laid his head on the desk, ready for a nap.
He had been quite worn out these past two days due to his sister and childhood friend, suffering from severe sleep deprivation. Without a nap, he was worried he wouldn’t make it through the afternoon.
…
The afternoon classes went by quickly. As soon as the bell rang and the teacher announced the end of the lesson, Yagi Miyuki slung his backpack over his shoulder, picked up his assignments, and headed towards the staircase.
He had almost no time in the afternoon to work on his assignments, so he still hadn’t completed the school tasks left over from the weekend. Now, as part of the executive committee, he had to attend a meeting. If all else failed, he would just stay up late to finish his work after he got off duty.
“Is this the place?”
Upon reaching Room 613 on the 6th floor, and seeing that the door was open, Yagi Miyuki walked right in.
The meeting room wasn’t large, but it was quite empty. Other than a round table in the middle that could seat about a dozen people and the chairs surrounding it, there was only some projection equipment, making it quite simple.
He wasn’t the first one to arrive; several other students had already taken their seats around the table, and a few students wearing student council armbands were preparing for the meeting.
Seeing this, Yagi Miyuki, unfazed, slowly walked up to the table, pulled out a chair, sat down, and started working on his assignments as if no one else was there.
“Hm? Yagi-san?”
However, his focus was short-lived. A crisp female voice suddenly sounded next to him.
“Uh… Mizuki.”
Looking at the young woman next to him with delicate facial features, carefully applied makeup, a well-proportioned body, and a youthful ponytail, Yagi Miyuki remained expressionless.
He wasn’t familiar with this Mizuki, but he remembered her name because this young woman had tried to disturb his studies two weeks ago under the grand-sounding pretense of wanting to date him.
Admittedly, Yagi Miyuki was good-looking, but he didn’t think he had any particular charm. These girls who talked about wanting to date were mostly just acting out of hormonal impulses. They claimed to be in “like,” but the majority were probably just embarrassed because their friends were all dating and they weren’t.
The only conditions they probably had were two: be good-looking.
Yagi Miyuki used to entertain such childish thoughts, but now, he just wanted to focus on his studies.
“Mizuki-san, were you also forced to become an executive committee member?”
Mizuki laughed, “What a coincidence. Please take care of me during this period.”
“Sure.”

Yagi Miyuki nodded, then lowered his head to continue studying diligently. If it were someone else who came over, he might have exchanged some polite words. However, he felt it was better to be indifferent towards female classmates who wanted to disrupt his studies.
After all, he didn’t want to send any mixed signals. If he was even slightly gentle, it could cause misunderstandings.
He had absolutely no intentions of dating!
“Um…”
Seeing Yagi Miyuki’s rather unfriendly attitude, Mizuki’s face flushed with embarrassment. She stomped her foot, gave a cold huff, turned around, and walked away.
Realizing that Mizuki had left, Yagi Miyuki sighed in relief but also felt somewhat reflective.
“If only Ninomiya-senpai were this easy to deal with!”
No, he must not think about her. He could have a heart attack!
Yagi Miyuki took a deep breath and once again immersed himself in his studies, freeing his mind from any distractions.
“Hmm… this question…”
He frowned. To be honest, he hated math. Even during his college entrance exams, he’d nearly given up on the subject. Now, despite his big goals, he had to endure the dislike and keep working on it. However, he still had no talent for math.
“This question requires you to substitute into the formula for a line with a given slope,” a pleasant female voice suddenly suggested.
“Aha!”
After trying a couple of times, Yagi Miyuki finally got the hang of it and successfully solved the problem. Studying made him happy!
Engrossed in his studies, although something felt off, he didn’t think too much about it and continued working on the test.
“This question has two traps; be careful.”
“Mm, thank you.”
“You’re welcome, junior ~”
“You—”
Yagi Miyuki abruptly came back to his senses, his face turning pale. For a moment, he felt as if he had plunged into an ice pit.
Junior? That term—
Only then did he realize that the previously noisy conference room had grown quiet, and nearly every seat around the round table was filled. However, everyone’s gaze was focused on him!
Yagi Miyuki, twisting his stiff neck, slowly turned to look at his right side, where a sweet fragrance had been coming from. Soon, a beautiful face he absolutely did not want to see came into his sight, smiling warmly.
“Ninomiya-senpai!”

Yagi Miyuki was in turmoil.
How could he bump into her everywhere? Did he have a GPS installed on him or something? This was just too coincidental!
He ran into her while working at a café, met her again when he was shopping for clothes with his sister, and now even in his role as some sort of committee member, there she was!
“Good afternoon, junior.”
Ninomiya Homura was half-leaning on the round table with a beaming smile. She propped up her small head with one delicate, fair hand, and her pitch-black eyes reflected Yagi Miyuki’s stupefied expression, making her laugh even brighter.
This is not good at all!
Yagi Miyuki’s face was as grim as deep water. He felt like the gazes coming from all directions were about to materialize, giving him the impulse to run away.
Damn it!
The attention Ninomiya-senpai attracted wasn’t something that Mizuki could match. Just by sitting beside him, she had already disrupted his peaceful routine!
Ignore her, ignore her, ignore her!
Yagi Miyuki disregarded Ninomiya-senpai’s greeting, silently shifted his chair to the other side.
“Thump~”
“Hm?”
Yagi Miyuki had just moved his chair a little to the left when it seemed like he bumped into something, making a subtle noise. Not just the chair, even his shoulder…
A bad premonition suddenly rose in Yagi Miyuki’s heart. Feeling a warm, soft touch on his left shoulder, he slowly turned his head to look, and then his whole person froze.
Sitting to his left was a beautiful woman who was almost as striking as Ninomiya-senpai.
At this moment, this beautiful lady’s face was adorned with a gentle smile. Her eyes met his, and her red lips slightly parted to say, “Long time no see, Yagi-kun.”
Yagi Miyuki: “…”
