Chapter 94: Heading Out
“This time for a phone call…”
Yagi Miyuki frowned, not immediately answering the call, instead standing frozen with a wary look.
“It shouldn’t be…”
He quickly shook his head. Ninomiya-senpai was bedridden, and though he couldn’t guess what was wrong with her, she probably didn’t have the energy to bother him.
“Um…”
The moment Yagi Miyuki answered the call, before he could speak, a weak moan came from the other end.
“Is this Hayashida sensei?”
Ninomiya-senpai’s familiar voice soon followed, sounding utterly exhausted, as if even speaking was a tremendous effort. She weakly said:
“This is Ninomiya. I wanted to let you know in advance, tomorrow… I’ll probably need another day off. I’m very sorry, my parents aren’t home right now. For the guardian’s proof… um, I’ll ask them to send a text to you later… That’s all.”
“No, wait…”
Yagi Miyuki was taken aback, about to respond when the phone emitted a ‘Ding Ding’ busy tone…
“Was that… a wrong number?”
He looked at his phone in confusion, having been disconnected.
Ninomiya-senpai apparently meant to call the class teacher to request a sick leave but mistakenly dialed his number instead.
“Her parents aren’t home? She’s sick like this without anyone to care for her?”
Yagi Miyuki’s brows furrowed.
Honestly, Ninomiya-senpai’s weakness in her voice was frightening. It didn’t sound like a minor illness.
“Wait a minute!”
Yagi Miyuki suddenly became alert, murmuring, “Could this be a trick to get me to visit her? Even if it’s a wrong number, it’s too much of a coincidence. Though her weak tone doesn’t seem fake, but…”
Even though he didn’t want to doubt Ninomiya-senpai at this moment, considering her history, the possibility existed.
“Should I go check?”
Yagi Miyuki glanced at the time. Today’s meeting was unexpectedly efficient, finishing in less than half an hour, leaving him with more than an hour before work.
“Forget it…”
After hesitating, Yagi Miyuki used his phone to call back.
He decided to clarify the situation first. If she really was so sick that speaking was difficult, and no one was taking care of her, then he really couldn’t just ignore it. Morally and logically, he had to see what was going on.
“The number you have dialed is currently unavailable…”
“Not answering the phone?”
Yagi Miyuki scratched his head in confusion, unsure of what to do next.
Should he go? He feared it might be Ninomiya-senpai playing a trick on him.

“But if I don’t go, I can’t be at ease either. Ninomiya-senpai’s tone didn’t sound like a minor illness. If something really happened, I wouldn’t be able to ease my conscience.”
“Forget it…”
Yagi Miyuki took a deep breath, turned around, and headed towards Ninomiya’s house, gritting his teeth, “If you are using this to trick me, Ninomiya-senpai, I really have to teach you a lesson!”
After his stern declaration, Yagi Miyuki shook his head and calmed down.
“Ninomiya-senpai’s house is just a fifteen-minute walk from the school. I have enough time now. I’ll just go to set my mind at ease and return those things to her.”
He jogged all the way, reaching Ninomiya’s house in about ten minutes.
This was his third visit to Ninomiya-senpai’s house, making him quite familiar with the route.
“This…”
Upon arriving at Ninomiya’s house, Yagi Miyuki became even more speechless, increasingly feeling like Ninomiya-senpai was playing him.
“Is the door left open for me?”
Looking at the slightly ajar door, Yagi Miyuki’s lips twitched, feeling the urge to turn around and leave.
Despite her carelessness, she wouldn’t leave her home door unlocked, right?
“Sigh…”
Taking a deep breath, Yagi Miyuki decided to proceed since he had already come. He didn’t mind wasting a little more time.
Knock, knock…
Yagi Miyuki knocked on the door, pushing the slightly open door further, and called out, “Ninomiya-senpai? Are you there?”
“…”
After a moment of silence and no response, Yagi Miyuki frowned, hesitated for a while, then decisively entered, calling out, “Excuse me for intruding.”
“…”
“Ouch…”
Groggy, Ninomiya Homura held her heavy head and moaned, her delicate eyebrows slightly furrowed. She struggled to open her eyes, turned on the bed, and murmured, “I feel so bad… I ran out of fever medicine yesterday. Should I go buy some?”
“Hmm?”
Suddenly, Ninomiya Homura seemed to hear something. She laughed softly, closing her eyes weakly, murmuring, “Cough… My head isn’t really burning out, right? I thought I heard my junior’s voice. Forget it, cough cough! Let’s sleep a bit more… I should feel better when I wake up…”
“Ninomiya-senpai.”
“Still here…”
Hearing the clear voice again, Ninomiya Homura seemed to lack the strength to even open her eyes, just unconsciously smiling on her pale, sickly beautiful face, “Well… junior’s voice is really gentle…”
“Ninomiya-senpai?”
“So close…”

Ninomiya Homura shakily extended a pale, delicate hand forward, struggling to open her eyes. What appeared before her was a clear-cut, handsome face.
“Ah… even hallucinations are appearing, perhaps… I should really go to the hospital?”
Ninomiya Homura’s extended arm, before it could touch the familiar face in front of her, fell powerlessly downwards, as if its bones had been removed.
“Hmm?”
Ninomiya-senpai was momentarily dazed, feeling that her hand did not land on the bed but was instead grasped by a not-so-broad, even somewhat slender hand. Simultaneously, the calling voice next to her ear became clearer.
“Ninomiya-senpai! Stay with me! If you keep this up, I’ll have to call an ambulance.”
Yagi Miyuki firmly held the burning hot hand in his, his tone laced with helplessness and anxiety, looking at his senpai on the bed with a look of concern.
“Yagi-kun?”
Ninomiya Homura was stunned for a moment, then seemed to realize something. Her beautiful eyes widened slightly, and her sluggish thoughts instantly regained clarity, she said in bewilderment, “You… when did you come?”
“I should be asking you why you called me!”
Seeing Ninomiya-senpai waking up from her semi-conscious state, Yagi Miyuki inwardly heaved a sigh of relief but immediately frowned and touched Ninomiya-senpai’s tender forehead, saying, “Where are your parents? You can’t be left alone with such a high fever. Have you taken any fever-reducing medication?”
