Chapter 16
Jiang Muti didn’t expect Yun Duo to be so straightforward. She was completely obedient, without any hesitation.
At this moment, she couldn’t help but marvel at the power of bloodlines—this was really Yun Cheng’s sister, the one who was as clueless as him.
She took a deep breath and tried to explain to Yun Duo, “Look, when I asked you to help me pull their hair, although there’s a possibility that could happen, after all, if physical conflict arises, I’d be the one at a disadvantage…”
“But generally, this is just a metaphor. Do you understand? It means for you to cooperate with me in tearing into them, not actually pulling someone’s hair.”
“And we need to be graceful. If we can win with words, don’t rush to use force.”
Yun Duo listened to her explanation and, still confused, asked, “So should I pull their hair or not?”
Jiang Muti realized her mistake—she shouldn’t have let Yun Duo dive in right away, she should have helped her understand the situation first.
“Don’t pull! I’m not going to spit at them, why would I need to pull their hair? If I curse them, can’t they just dodge it?”
“Oh!” Yun Duo rolled her eyes and let go of the two girls’ hair.
Jiang Muti wasn’t sure if it was just her feeling, but she couldn’t shake the impression that Yun Duo had just looked at her with disdain.
This was really family—Jiang Muti had a lot of patience because of that.
“Don’t roll your eyes at me, stand up properly and listen.” Jiang Muti scolded, “The first rule for starting trouble is that you need to have some awareness.”
“The worse the thing you’re doing, the more awareness you need, understand? You need to know when and how far you can go. If you get slapped back, and you look both dumb and vicious, how can you hold your head up?”
“Look at this situation—if you’d just gone up and pulled their hair right away, fortunately these two are slum sisters. If they were highborn young ladies from a powerful family, today’s incident would have gotten much worse.”
As Jiang Muti lectured Yun Duo on how to do bad things properly, Yun Duo was growing increasingly impatient, confused by all the talk.
Meanwhile, the two girls who had barely managed to fix their hair after Jiang Muti’s comments were fuming.
“Who are you calling slum sisters?”
“Jiang Muti, you’ve grown bolder after a few years, huh? Have you forgotten how you used to flatter us and beg to be our friend in middle school?”
“Back then, you’d rush off to buy things the moment we asked, and now you’ve gained some weight, and your eyes are practically on top of your head?”
Jiang Muti was hoping that the blockhead would finally get the point, but she was interrupted by the sharp voice, which made her very displeased.
She turned around, easily handling this type of character, her brain hardly needing to work in overdrive.
“Please? Oh, oh! If you insist on interpreting my goodwill as flattery,” she sneered, “But obviously, after all these years, your family’s situation hasn’t improved.”
“Otherwise, you wouldn’t still be unable to afford a decent etiquette teacher, or perhaps you haven’t attended any high-end social events for a long time. Has no one ever told you that your shrill voice is unpleasant?”
These two twin sisters were Jiang Muti’s middle school classmates. The original Jiang Muti had attended a private school, not a public one, where the children of wealthy families gathered.
Twins were not rare, but identical, beautiful twin sisters were always charming wherever they went.
They were probably used to being spoiled and believed the world should revolve around them. With their vanity and desire to show off, along with some talent, they thought they could debut as celebrities, win fans, and enjoy all the attention.
Unfortunately, their family situation hadn’t been great in recent years. It was already hard enough to maintain their current status, so there was no chance they could get money to pave their way.
Fortunately, in this industry, even those who hadn’t made it to the top were still starting much higher than ordinary people. They had been negotiating with a producer for a long time before he finally agreed to set aside some time for an interview.
However, they didn’t expect the once most inconspicuous, frequently ridiculed fat kid from their class to easily achieve what they had been struggling for, with just a few casual words.
It seemed like she was even having a good conversation with the producer, which was something these proud girls couldn’t stand. So, they began to mock her.
They didn’t expect that after more than two years, the fat kid who used to be timid and easy to bully had completely changed. Not only was she no longer meek, but she had also become rude, arrogant, and sharp-tongued.
The two girls sneered: “You probably forgot that it was you who hid at home and couldn’t even show your face, right? We might need an etiquette teacher, but you don’t. With your behavior, not even the most professional one could save you.”
“And you!” They glared at Yun Duo, but remembering how this girl was like a fool who immediately resorted to violence when something didn’t go her way, they felt a bit fearful and didn’t dare to get too close.
“I don’t know how much this fatso has done for you, for you to be willing to be her lackey. Where are you from? Don’t think that pulling our hair will just end like that. Do you know this hairstyle was personally done by Tony? We made an appointment a month in advance.”
Yun Duo replied, “Sorry!”
“Is saying sorry enough?” The two girls grew more smug as they saw Yun Duo take a step back. They glanced at Jiang Muti, mocking her for not getting on the same page with her lackey.
They pushed further, saying to Yun Duo, “We want your parents to personally apologize to us.”
Jiang Muti shrugged. These two fools probably thought she would scold Yun Duo, assuming she could easily bully her. But as usual, these idiots didn’t understand. They even often made her feel like she was being choked half to death. Since they wanted to try, Jiang Muti didn’t stop them, letting Yun Duo do whatever she wanted.
Yun Duo seriously responded, “That might not be possible. My dad is very busy, always on standby 24/7. He can’t even make it to my parent-teacher meetings, so there’s no way he could take the time to apologize to you.”
“Oh? What does your mother do? Busy like this?” The two girls were still a bit cautious. Although being a lackey to the fat girl wouldn’t make her any better, she was still someone who could attend these types of events, so it didn’t hurt to ask.
Yun Duo didn’t think there was anything wrong with talking about her dad’s job: “My dad is the Jiang family’s private butler.”
The two girls immediately sneered: “So, you’re the maid’s daughter—haha! No wonder. It must be hard for you, with your parents working like that, and you have no choice.”
“Still, an apology is necessary.” After hearing her background, the two girls became more arrogant: “Call your dad right now.”
Yun Duo nodded: “I am the maid’s daughter, and this is my dad’s job. But I’m not trying to brush you off. My dad really doesn’t have time to meet you.”
“He’s very busy. Many people want to visit the Jiang family through his appointments, and he genuinely doesn’t have time to deal with the daughters of two families on the brink of bankruptcy.”
“You—”
The two girls were about to lose their temper. It was one thing for Jiang Muti to act like a nouveau riche and show off, but how dare the maid’s daughter act so arrogant?
Jiang Muti nearly laughed herself to death: “Hahaha… My Xiao Duo! I was wrong. Who needs me to teach you? Wouldn’t that be ruining you? Don’t twist your nature, just let it flow naturally, you got this.”
The two girls, sharp-tongued and harsh as they were, couldn’t make anyone so angry that they jumped into the swimming pool.
Not far away, Li Xi was originally going to ask Jiang Muti about the CD, but seeing this scene and remembering how awkward it always was when dealing with that girl, she decided against it.
Forget it, asking Yuqi would be just as good.
At this moment, Zhou Lu came over and found her. Following her gaze, he saw that the fat girl was once again making fools of the two girls.
Zhou Lu clicked his tongue in annoyance: “Why is it that every time I see this person, she’s always looking for trouble?”
“Forget it, don’t mind her today.” He emphasized to Li Xi, “Her brother isn’t easy to deal with, so to avoid trouble, it’s best if you don’t say a word to her tonight.”
Li Xi had already noticed this, but was curious: “Doesn’t her family care that she offends people all the time?”
Zhou Lu thought for a moment: “I haven’t seen her in many social events these past few years, but her brother, Jiang Yunjuan, has been involved in a lot. That guy seems reasonable, but I bet he’d still say something like ‘my sister is just a kid.’“
“Pfft! A 200 pound kid.”
After chatting for a while, the two of them left the spot and didn’t interact with Jiang Muti and the others for the rest of the night.
Because of the fun brought by the little incident, Jiang Muti was in a good mood the entire evening. On the way home, the whole family didn’t split up but took the same car back together.
In the car, they talked about tonight’s engagement ceremony. Father and Mother Jiang both nodded, agreeing that this marriage was a good match.
It was then that Jiang Muti learned that it was actually a purely business-based marriage between two strong families. Of course, that wasn’t surprising in high society, but the atmosphere at the whole banquet was so harmonious that it didn’t immediately make one think of that side of things.
Just then, she suddenly heard her father say, “Ah Lu is already this old.”
Jiang Muti suddenly tensed up at such an opening—
To her surprise, her brother reacted even faster than she did. Jiang Yunjuan smiled and said, “He’s not small anymore. I just saw him coming in and out with a girl. Looks like the second good thing in their family is coming soon.”
Jiang’s father didn’t seem to care much: “Young people—”
Then he glanced back at his daughter, noticing that she still seemed a bit lacking, and prompted her, “How’s the weight loss going recently?”
You know, something like weight loss, which was originally a source of accomplishment after succeeding, had suddenly become a thorn in her throat because of her parents’ misguided thoughts.
Not to mention anything else, but when it comes to ruining the mood, no one can beat her parents.
Fortunately, both of them were busy. After the banquet, they didn’t stay at home for long and flew off again.
It might sound a bit heartless, but Jiang Muti truly felt that she could only be at ease when it was just her, Jiang Yunjuan, and Yun Cheng and Yun Duo’s family.
Not long after her parents left, the final exams quickly arrived. Jiang Muti’s grades improved again, and she became an inspirational role model throughout the entire school.
Then came the summer vacation, which lasted more than two months. However, Yun Cheng and his family had to go to the capital for training and a competition, and they wouldn’t return until the next semester.
On the day they left, Jiang Muti and Yun Duo sent them off. Yun Cheng, who had never been away from home for such a long time, hugged both of them reluctantly.
“During the training, we have to hand in our phones, so we won’t be able to keep in touch. Remember to pick me up when I get back.”
The two of them nodded repeatedly. Seeing how clingy he was, they were really glad they didn’t bring their two dogs along to see him off, otherwise, the three brothers would have been tearfully bidding farewell for who knows how long.
Seeing Yun Cheng about to speak again, Jiang Muti and Yun Duo each kicked him onto Ji Feishi’s car.
Bending down, Jiang Muti spoke to Ji Feishi from the outside: “He’s a bit silly, keep an eye on him. You can handle his food and drink however you want, just don’t let him get sold.”
Ji Feishi laughed and replied, “Whoever buys him won’t last two months before they go bankrupt, crying to send him back.”
Yun Cheng, still reluctant to part, saw that the surrounding people were all carefree. Embarrassed and frustrated, he said to Jiang Muti, “With you around? Don’t bother picking me up.”
He had only said it jokingly, but when he returned two months later, he was shocked to discover that the little chubby girl had quite the temper.
She really didn’t come to pick him up. When he got out of the car, he saw his sister talking with a slender girl, and there was no sign of Jiang Muti anywhere.
Yun Cheng immediately felt wronged and almost cried.
