Wang Weihu finally felt at ease when he saw his teammates sprinting back.
“They finally made it back!”
If they had delayed any longer, he would have panicked.
The other squads nearby saw Wang Weihu still standing there and urged him to board the airship.
“Brother Wang, hurry up! We have one more seat here! Get on quickly!”
“Captain Qin and the others will be here soon. You don’t have to wait; just get on first.”
These were familiar faces from other teams, such as the Flame Squad and the Lily of the Valley Squad.
Wang Weihu waved them off. “It’s fine, I’m not in a hurry. I’ll wait for them.”
Since he refused to go up, someone else took the remaining seat. The airship doors closed tightly, and it quickly started taking off.
The Leopard, Pigeon, and Rose Squads, along with other teams, had already left. Soon, the last airship descended, and Qin Luo’s group finally made it back.
“Go, go, go! Get on board!!”
Qin Luo carried Xu Duoduo and leaped onto the airship in just a few strides. Wang Weihu supported the exhausted Bai Shu and Chen Xiaofei, following closely behind. At last, their full team successfully evacuated.
Inside the airship’s cargo bay, they collapsed onto the floor, panting heavily.
Xu Duoduo had already passed out.
With a thud, she lay motionless on the ground.
Qin Luo felt like his heart was about to jump out of his chest. He was utterly exhausted. Seeing Xu Duoduo lying there, he quickly scooped her up again.
“This was the craziest mission ever! How the hell did a tsunami just happen out of nowhere? This is insane! Headquarters didn’t mention anything about a tsunami before we came!”
He gasped for breath.
Chen Xiaofei and Bai Shu were also lying limp on the floor. The crew members were too busy adjusting the airship’s altitude to pay attention to them.
Wang Weihu finally relaxed as well. The moment he saw his teammates, his tense nerves loosened.
His entire body immediately felt sore and drained of strength.
The four members of 3A and one unconscious corpse lay there for a while before finally struggling to their feet to check the airship’s large screen.
Below them, a massive tidal wave crashed down, swallowing the entire island.
The scene was terrifying.
The aircraft’s bright lights illuminated the devastation below; otherwise, this moment wouldn’t have been captured at all.
It was the complete annihilation of a nation.
There was a sense of melancholy.
All traces of its existence had been erased by the ocean. However, the other part of Wa Nation had already been ruined long ago—nothing remained but volcanic lava remnants.
Now, there was truly nothing left.
Bai Shu removed his goggles and replaced them with his comfortable rimless glasses. “If this had been R Nation, I’d wish for it to happen dozens of times over. But Wa Nation was just a small, ordinary country. It’s kind of a pity—we just witnessed its destruction.”
Qin Luo carried Xu Duoduo to a seat. “Not really. At least we remember it. At least the airship’s recorder has documented it.”
They knew that this island had great dessert shops, luxury brand stores, and local fashion boutiques. It had active volcanoes, iguanas, and coconut crabs by the seaside.
It had existed. It had simply perished.
A sacrifice of the apocalypse era.
Soon, a crew member approached and asked if they were injured or needed medical treatment.
Qin Luo immediately nodded. “Yes, please check on my wife.”
The crew member hesitated. “I’m a healing-type ability user, but I’m not a professional doctor. I can help restore energy, though. I can try treating your wife first?”
She explained that she hadn’t studied medicine formally but had awakened a healing ability and had since crammed medical knowledge. However, she was far from an expert.
Still, her healing abilities were effective.
Qin Luo nodded and let her proceed. The healer’s hands glowed with a white light, and delicate white flowers emerged, wrapping around Xu Duoduo’s wrist. The tiny glowing specks merged into Xu Duoduo’s body.
For the first time, Xu Duoduo felt truly warm.
She snuggled against Qin Luo’s neck, finally settling into his embrace, unmoving. It felt so warm.
Qin Luo’s face turned red from her nuzzling. He coughed and silently held her tighter.
Before long, Xu Duoduo’s corpse body began to warm up, filling Qin Luo with joy. But just as quickly, when the healer retracted her white vines, her temperature dropped again. He hadn’t even had time to celebrate.
Qin Luo sighed, looking down at Xu Duoduo’s rare rosy cheeks. “It’s okay. Even if you stay a zombie forever, I still love you.”
If there weren’t other people around, he would’ve kissed her right then.
Qin Luo nodded at the healer. “Thank you. She looks much better now.”
The healer smiled. “I can only restore energy depletion and help with quick recovery. Just let her rest.”
Sleep was also a good way to restore abilities.
Qin Luo agreed.
The healer then moved on to Bai Shu and Chen Xiaofei.
“Whoa! So this is what healing abilities look like?!”
“Amazing.”
Both of them were fascinated. Abilities like these were a huge contrast to traditional medicine.
Just think—people spend decades studying medicine, and then a healing-type ability user appears and cures cancer with a touch.
It was almost enough to make doctors cough up blood in frustration.
Wang Weihu, watching from the side, nodded. “No wonder some researchers lose their minds.”
Who wouldn’t?
The healer restored Bai Shu and Chen Xiaofei to about 20% before doing the same for Wang Weihu and Qin Luo. After that, she herself was drained, her eyes dazed, and she wobbled slightly as she stood up.
Chen Xiaofei instinctively reached out to support her, but she firmly refused. “No, we have to maintain professional boundaries between medical personnel and patients. This wouldn’t be appropriate.”
Bai Shu raised an eyebrow. “Afraid of being harassed by patients?”
The healer nodded. “I’m scared of being taken advantage of, so I’d rather handle myself.”
This was her duty, her job. Sure, these guys were handsome, but still—no, thank you. She wobbled her way back to the cockpit.
Chen Xiaofei couldn’t help but admire her. “Damn, I never thought healing-type ability users could get harassed too?”
Bai Shu adjusted his glasses. “Healing abilities are rare and valuable. Many teams would kill for one, but they’re not easy to find.”
Qin Luo smirked smugly. “Is it really that hard? There are tons of people begging to join us on the forums. I just don’t accept them.”
Healing ability users that others desperately sought—3A could afford to be picky.
They got plenty of messages.
Their inboxes were flooded with applications, but they hadn’t accepted anyone.
Bringing in new people meant trust issues, compatibility issues. Absolute trust was a must.
Xu Duoduo had joined because she was special.
And because, when they were kids, she had already been part of their lives. Trust and chemistry were never a problem.
