Everyone had been diligently collecting resources for a long time, filling up their space cards one by one.
They didn’t take any breaks.
Whenever they got hungry, they just ate something quickly to keep going. At one point, they spotted teams from other countries approaching from a distance.
They immediately sped up.
Then, their earpieces buzzed with a warning from headquarters, urging them to retreat immediately.
Qin Luo instantly grabbed Xu Duoduo and called out, “Let’s go! Retreat now!”
The others quickly followed.
The ground started trembling. Something had crashed into the island, sending a wave of unease through everyone.
“Run, run, run! Hurry!”
“Retreat, retreat, retreat!!”
Teams from other countries were shouting that a tsunami was coming. “Run!”
Qin Luo felt his heart tighten. “Everyone, stay safe! Run faster!”
They would be safe once they reached the borders of Waguo.
But last time, it had taken them a whole day and night to get out. Now, they were racing against the tsunami.
Everyone ran at full speed.
Xu Duoduo had exhausted most of her powers. She could still run, but her energy was running dangerously low.
Qin Luo wrapped her in a thin blanket and carried her in front of him, running like the wind while occasionally clearing out mutant insects and animals.
These creatures were relentless.
Even when they cleared a path ahead, more would appear before long.
They had no choice but to keep fighting as they ran.
The mutant animals also seemed to sense danger.
They were fleeing as well, creating absolute chaos when they collided with the humans.
The battlefield turned into pure disorder.
Qin Luo shouted to his team, “Stay together! Don’t get separated!”
If anyone got lost now, they’d be in serious danger.
His voice cut through the chaos, a steady guide in the panic.
The Leopard and Pigeon squads were rattled but calmed down upon hearing Qin Luo’s voice. They stuck close to their teammates, preventing separation.
Chen Xiaofei, Bai Shu, and Wang Weihu took care of them. Though the Leopard and Pigeon squads lacked experience, they were handling the situation impressively well.
Wang Weihu shouted to Mu Mei, “Captain Mu! Is your team okay?”
The Rose squad members had also drained a lot of their energy, but they could still take care of themselves. They reassured him they were fine.
For warriors, pushing their limits was an everyday occurrence.
The last objective of this mission was clear—escape from Waguo.
From the sky, Chen Xiaofei kept watch. When he spotted a dense swarm of mutant insects and animals approaching, his scalp went numb. “Qin Ge! Qin Ge! There’s a massive horde of mutant insects from the east!! Coconut crabs and long-legged sharks too!!”
Bai Shu panted heavily. They hadn’t stopped running for even a moment. Exhaustion was setting in. Hearing this, he frowned. “The other teams said there’s a tsunami. But why are all the mutant creatures running this way? We have an airship waiting for us—but how do they know this way is safer?”
Good question.
Qin Luo and the others were stunned. Xu Duoduo, dizzy from overusing her powers, was also confused.
But the answer came quickly.
Because Chen Xiaofei suddenly cursed, then roared in fury, “Jin Dapeng!!! You bastard!! How dare you lure all the monsters toward us?!”
Bai Shu immediately understood and cursed too. “That guy’s been waiting for this moment!”
Absolutely despicable.
Even Wang Weihu was shocked. “Jinchuan Qiong?! Is he insane?!”
They had the power-generating stones from the base and several elite squads here. But Jinchuan Qiong deliberately led all the mutant creatures toward them?
If that wasn’t insanity, what was?
Qin Luo was equally stunned, but his high-level abilities kept him composed. “Everyone, listen up! Get away from the east immediately!” He broadcasted the order on the main channel.
Everyone could hear it.
Other squads from their own side, as well as foreign allies, were also retreating together.
Upon hearing Qin Luo’s warning, they swiftly moved away from the east.
Qin Luo instructed Wang Weihu to keep leading the recruits forward. “Don’t stop. Keep running. Don’t look back.”
Chen Xiaofei, Bai Shu, and Wang Weihu fully trusted their captain.
If Qin Luo said it was fine, then it would be fine.
Chen Xiaofei responded immediately, “Roger!” In the process, he quickly grabbed an allied foreign soldier, yanking him out of the jaws of a giant centipede. The soldier was shaking in fear and immediately gasped out his thanks.
Chen Xiaofei waved him off. “No big deal! You’re welcome.” Then, he gritted his teeth, glaring at Jinchuan Qiong in the distance. “Damn it, if I catch you, I’m cutting you into eighty-eight pieces!!”
Bai Shu’s face darkened. “We underestimated him.”
Jinchuan Qiong had been scheming against 3A all along, trying to eliminate them in secret.
They had been too soft.
Bai Shu’s gaze turned colder.
Wang Weihu kept an eye on the Leopard and Pigeon squads, pulling them back whenever they lagged and barking orders to keep them sharp.
The recruits were scared out of their minds.
At that moment, Qin Luo gave everyone enough time to retreat. Once he confirmed no one was left behind, he raised his hand while still running and unleashed his power.
No hesitation.
Lightning crackled across the sky.
The entire eastern horizon lit up with blinding flashes before the thunderous explosion struck.
The impact was breathtaking.
Everyone who saw it felt their skin crawl.
The terrifying might of a Level Five Ability User.
Qin Luo had nearly exhausted his energy. His steps faltered, almost causing him to fall—but he steadied himself. He still had his wife in his arms. He couldn’t let her get hurt.
Xu Duoduo, dizzy and weak, barely managed to whisper, “Qin Luo… are you okay?”
Qin Luo’s senses were on high alert, constantly scanning the chaotic battlefield. But hearing her soft, mosquito-like voice, he still had time to tease her. He panted but chuckled, “Oh? Calling me by my full name today?”
Hearing her say his name made him happy.
Xu Duoduo didn’t respond. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to—she was just too drained. After all, she was still new to the battlefield.
She had already done great.
Qin Luo, worried she might faint completely, urged her, “Xu Duoduo, don’t sleep. Wait until we reach the airship. Let the medics check on you first. You’re not hurt, right? If you are and you don’t tell me, you’re dead meat.”
Xu Duoduo didn’t have the energy to reply. She wanted to stay awake, but her body had nothing left to give.
Qin Luo’s heart clenched. He raised a hand to check her head. “Are you okay? Don’t sleep. What if you wake up and don’t recognize me again? I’m waiting for you to marry me when you’re fully conscious! What if we reset back to the beginning again?”
He sighed. “That’d be so unlucky for me.”
Xu Duoduo thought this big dog was so annoying when he rambled. But his arms were really warm.
His hand, still holding a gun, was pressing against the back of her head—it was a little uncomfortable. But he was tense with worry, not even noticing.
“Won’t forget… like you…”
She mumbled indistinctly.
Qin Luo didn’t catch it clearly. Still running, he asked, “Huh? What did you say?”
He dodged a few attacking mutant insects, pushing forward. Behind them, seawater had already begun flooding the streets, rushing in fast.
“Damn! This is insane!”
