When Bai Shu, Chen Xiaofei, and Wang Weihuo came back, they noticed that Qin Luo’s ears were still red. The three of them kept sneaking glances at him in curiosity.
Before they could ask, Qin Luo told them not to even think about it. If they did, he’d have to take drastic measures to silence them!
Chen Xiaofei immediately nodded, obediently signaling that he wouldn’t ask, then turned to Bai Shu and whispered, “Do you think something’s wrong with Qin? Could his brain have a problem?”
Bai Shu adjusted his glasses and spoke with the air of an experienced sage, “Ah, men in love are all fools. There’s no reason to them.”
Chen Xiaofei couldn’t help but chuckle, trying to hold back his laughter.
Qin Luo, feeling his face still burning, maintained a serious demeanor, pulling out the authority of the team leader and urged them to finish breakfast quickly and head out.
The others, of course, had noticed the unusual happenings on their side—the items that appeared and disappeared out of thin air.
Apart from the stunned expressions of ordinary survivors, the other ability users had looks of envy on their faces.
They knew how valuable space storage cards were, and yet the 3A team had one for each of them!
Oh my god.
When Mu Enya passed by them, she couldn’t help but say, “You guys are making me so jealous! Everyone’s got a space storage card? Our team only has the captain’s, and it’s just fifty cubic meters!”
These things had to be approved by the headquarters before being granted. Resources were matched to abilities.
Mu Enya was just casually saying this. She had heard how hard the 3A team worked, saving so many survivors. It was only fair that they had such good benefits.
After all, there were dangers they didn’t dare to face, but the 3A team was always at the front line.
She sighed as she spoke, “And your food looks amazing too! You even have porridge. Did you buy it at the base, or did you get ingredients and cook it yourself? How do you still have the energy? After missions, I just want to lie down when I get back to the base.”
Chen Xiaofei, who was stuffing his face, mumbled with a mouthful of food, “Mm, the class monitor cooked it. She’s amazing, right?”
Just as he said this, Bai Shu swiftly snatched the egg from his bowl, causing Chen Xiaofei to explode in anger!
The four of them were eating with abandon, with Wang Weihuo being the only one who paused to respond seriously, “Do you want me to split some porridge with you?”
Mu Enya was tempted to agree, mainly because she was really hungry. How long had it been since she’d had decent food? Her mouth was full of dry rations and the sickly sweet taste of nutritional liquid. She was craving real food down to her bones.
Before she could reply, a red thermos appeared in front of her.
Mu Enya looked down to see the little zombie, expressionless, handing it to her, though her eyes were shining brightly. Mu Enya was stunned: “This… this is for me?”
She had only been unable to resist her hunger, stopping to chat, not intending to beg for food.
She hesitated for a moment, then said, “Isn’t food a bit expensive now? The rice at the base is probably sold for a lot of points, and this porridge has meat, shiitake mushrooms, and greens…”
She couldn’t help but swallow as she spoke.
Qin Luo responded directly, “Take it. She wants you to have it.”
After hearing Mu Enya describe the porridge ingredients so precisely, it was clear she was genuinely hungry.
Everyone felt like laughing.
Bai Shu also pulled out a jar of spicy radish from his space storage card. “Here, take this too. You can eat it with dry rations for some flavor. Thanks for keeping watch last night. Because of you, we all got a good night’s sleep.”
In the end, Mu Enya couldn’t refuse. She quickly thanked the little zombie, then took the food. “It’s no problem! We’re heading back to base while you guys are going to the front lines to save people. You need to keep your strength up more than we do. Our return trip will be quick.”
This was true.
Now, many routes had been cleared by the combat teams, and there weren’t many zombies left on the road.
Even if there were any, they were just a few stragglers.
They just had to watch out for special mutated creatures and animals, and their return trip would be much faster.
When Mu Enya mentioned this, the little zombie turned and looked at her teammates. Seven people. After thinking for a moment, she took out a bag of large buns and handed them to Mu Enya.
Mu Enya was so touched that she almost cried, “I’ve almost forgotten what buns taste like!”
She knew how precious these things were, so she quickly thanked the little zombie, holding the buns and whispering, “No need to thank me. When we get back to base, we’ll catch up properly!”
Since she couldn’t salute while holding the food, and seeing how adorable the little zombie was sitting quietly nearby, Mu Enya couldn’t help but kiss her on the cheek. “Thank you, little one! You’re the best little zombie in the world! When we’re back at the base, we’ll celebrate!”
The cooking skills were just too good!
Having friends like this was pure happiness!
Mu Enya understood why the 3A team treated this little zombie so well.
She deserved it!
Mu Enya happily hugged the food and left, leaving the little zombie stunned and Chen Xiaofei, Bai Shu, and Wang Weihuo shocked!
Was this how girls thank each other? Just kiss them on the cheek!
Qin Luo exploded with anger. “What? You can just kiss people like that?”
Meanwhile, the little zombie, after a brief moment of confusion, was actually quite happy. She swayed from side to side as she squatted on the ground. Mu Enya reminded her of a few of her close friends.
Being treated like a person felt so good, and the little zombie was thrilled.
Qin Luo was still muttering to himself, feeling like his little flower had just been picked by someone else. This was so shameless! How could she kiss people like that?
But the little zombie was still quite happy!
So happy that she pulled out a chewing stick and started gnawing on it, making a chilling sound.
The three of them—Bai Shu, Chen Xiaofei, and Wang Weihuo—were watching Qin Luo’s jealous fit with amusement, which was a rare spectacle. But the next second, when they heard the gnawing noise, they all got goosebumps, feeling like fingernails on a chalkboard.
Chen Xiaofei sucked in his breath. “Ugh, do you think it’s okay for the little class monitor to gnaw her teeth like that?”
Wang Weihuo shook his head. “Maybe it’s more comfortable for her? It reminds me of my niece when she was teething.”
Bai Shu had finished his breakfast and was tapping away on his tablet. “Speaking of which, this reminds me of a post I saw before. It mentioned that some ability users, after overusing their powers, might experience some regressive symptoms.”
He thought for a moment and then made a new guess, “Do you think this is a new growth period for the mutated? If I’m right, the little class monitor is going through a period of oral fixation?”
If this were the case for animals, it would be similar to the teething stage.
If this wasn’t regression but evolution, then that was interesting.
What would a mutated person evolve into?
Would they still be human?
Chen Xiaofei rubbed his arms and said, “Can you stop making such terrifying assumptions?!”
Bai Shu calmly adjusted his glasses. “Curiosity is the source of human progress.”
Wang Weihuo also thought about the time when they fought the mutated snake people. It took them forever to whittle down the mutated snake person’s health, but the little zombie had taken it out with one blow.
The difference…
If Bai Shu’s guess was right, then didn’t that mean mutated individuals might actually be more powerful than ability users?
Qin Luo, seeing the serious expressions on their faces, spoke up, “Alright, why overthink it? In the end, we’ll find out what happens.”
What they needed to do now was to continue honing their skills and gather resources.
