Apocalypse Arrival: Little Zombie, I Just Hoard, Hoard, Hoard!
Apocalypse Arrival: Little Zombie, I Just Hoard, Hoard, Hoard! Chapter 39: Ongoing Rescue

The beverage section in the snack shop was truly dazzling, with all sorts of common and uncommon drinks available.

Xu Duo just went around collecting everything, grabbing whatever seemed clean.

Even if she didn’t take them, someone else would eventually do so, or they would be destroyed by mutated monsters. In any case, it felt reassuring to have the supplies in her hands.

The snack shop was quickly looted, and the two of them moved on to the neighboring dessert shop. The cakes behind the counter were, of course, no longer usable, all spoiled.

However, there were plenty of leftover ingredients in the bakery area, such as flour, powdered milk, and sugar.

There were many such eateries along the way, and the task was simply to gather any usable stock.

The most exciting one was the gold store!

The store was full of gold, gleaming brightly. Xiao Zhi and Chen Xiaofei both exclaimed, “Wow!”

“My goodness! How much would all this be worth before the apocalypse? Squad leader, hurry up, let’s grab it all! The next door seems to be a liquor store! Old Wang’s favorite! Once we’re done here, let’s head next door!”

Xu Duo nodded, waiting for Chen Xiaofei to take care of the few zombies behind the counter before smashing the glass and starting the looting process.

The liquor store next door was equally shocking, and Chen Xiaofei was in awe, “If Old Wang were here, he’d be going crazy!”

Xu Duo remained silent, focusing on packing up all the cigarettes and alcohol from the wall.

The duo was happily gathering supplies, while on the other side, Wang Weihuo was sneezing repeatedly, looking rather disheveled with Bai Shu.

“Everyone, follow me and stay close. Don’t fall behind, and keep quiet.”

Wang Weihuo instructed the survivors behind him, leading them toward a convenience store and getting them settled inside.

Bai Shu provided cover, even though it was daytime, the zombies grew agitated upon encountering live humans.

They lunged at anyone they saw.

Bai Shu kicked away a zombie that pounced on him and immediately took it down with a shot. “Ugh, these things are so annoying, endless and never-ending!”

He looked up and saw more zombies emerging from hiding.

They had already wiped out about 90% of the zombies ahead, yet more kept piling up. How were there so many?! The sky was getting dark!

Wang Weihuo threw a marbles bomb at a small group of zombies gathering ahead. The bomb was precise, exploding within a five-meter radius.

“Boom!” It took out a small pile of zombies.

“Xiao Bai, stay with the survivors. I’ll go rescue the others and bring them over.”

The presence of fresh human flesh constantly attracted zombies, and leaving the survivors alone wasn’t feasible. They might scream in fear, potentially drawing more zombies.

Bai Shu nodded after catching his breath and took a big gulp of the tea Xu Duo had given them. The squad leader had handed out a bottle of tea to everyone, and he didn’t know where she found so many thermos flasks, but they must have been gathered by chance.

Wang Weihuo patted Bai Shu’s shoulder before swiftly running ahead to eliminate zombies while heading toward the next street to rescue others.

Bai Shu continued to handle the zombies, occasionally switching clips and checking on the survivors inside the convenience store, each one hiding in fear and covering their mouths.

Sigh.

He sighed deeply.

Meanwhile, Qin Luo was a zombie-killing machine. The mall was full of zombies, and large bombs couldn’t be used for fear of sparking a chain reaction, so only marble bombs were utilized.

He had to avoid using too many marble bombs to prevent destroying electrical appliances, which could trigger explosions or even fires.

So, aside from the larger open areas in the mall, he used guns or knives to solve problems.

Qin Luo dove into the zombie pile, slashing and shooting, taking down large numbers. Most of the time, he was a cold killing machine, but occasionally he would wonder what the others were doing.

Everyone was carrying out their missions separately. By the time nightfall came.

Chen Xiaofei became cautious. “Squad leader, don’t stray too far from me, stay right behind me.”

Though he knew small zombies had a deadly move, the side effects were still unclear.

It was better to avoid letting her use it if possible.

Xu Duo nodded and blew her wooden whistle once to signal she understood. She looked up at the sky; the gloomy clouds had parted, and for the first time in a while, the moon appeared. She paused for a moment, stunned.

As Chen Xiaofei motioned for her to follow, she caught up with him to continue looting.

The two had already cleared the nearby shops, and their multi-dimensional cube was filled with supplies. Xu Duo felt reassured.

After looting the last pharmacy, her earpiece crackled with Qin Luo’s voice, “Hey, hey, hey, are you all done? It’s getting dark, hurry back.”

Their agreed-upon resting spot was the mall, and it was clear Qin Luo had already cleared it.

Chen Xiaofei happily responded, “Got it, got it! Squad leader and I are on our way back.”

Xu Duo blew her wooden whistle again.

They ran into Bai Shu and Wang Weihuo, who were escorting survivors into the mall.

Wang Weihuo saw Chen Xiaofei and called out, “There are still about a dozen survivors at the convenience store at the intersection. I’ll go pick them up. You two help get them inside first!”

Chen Xiaofei agreed, and Wang Weihuo rushed back.

Xu Duo noticed that Bai Shu and Wang Weihuo were both covered in black zombie blood, while she and Chen Xiaofei were only dusted with some grime and a little blood. Compared to them, they looked relatively clean.

Not easy!

Bai Shu smiled when he saw Xu Duo. “Squad leader, you really are amazing. Everything you’ve got is so useful. Thanks to your tea, Old Wang and I don’t have sore throats anymore!”

Otherwise, every time they shouted to the survivors, their throats would be hoarse—it was tough.

It was the same last time.

As a sniper, Bai Shu couldn’t afford to be distracted by anything.

Therefore, every time he went on a mission, he might get bitten by bugs. Last time, the squad leader had given him some insect repellent powder, saving him from suffering.

Although it wasn’t a big deal for a man to endure a bit of discomfort, avoiding it was certainly more comfortable.

Chen Xiaofei wholeheartedly agreed. “The squad leader is just like a little Doraemon—really, she has everything, and it’s all super useful. It’s so comfortable going on missions with her!”

Bai Shu laughed. “Don’t let Qin Ge hear that.”

He’d get jealous.

Chen Xiaofei only realized later and laughed, “I’m not afraid. I’m just being honest!”

The combat team and the doctor had a similar kind of magic; when the people protecting you could joke and laugh, it meant that the current situation was safe enough.

As a result, the survivors, hearing the two of them joking around, felt more at ease.

Xu Duo noticed many people staring at her collar. She self-consciously adjusted her collar; she really didn’t like people staring at her collar.

It made her feel like she was some kind of freak, even though she was indeed a little zombie.

People in C City were all quite tall.

The survivors, too, were all big and imposing. Seeing such a small girl like her going out on missions left them surprised.
