Gu Man casually glanced at the trending topics.
Out of fifty, she occupied ten all by herself.
Now, the whole world knew—how she had schemed and fought tooth and nail in this battle for shares, how she cut ties with her father, and even how she had sent her mother to a psychiatric hospital.
Her fiancé sneered at her and turned to marry her stepsister instead.
Online, she was buried under a storm of curses.
She tossed her phone aside, utterly exhausted.
Glancing at a framed family photo, she resolutely cut off the half with her father in it.
“Mom, don’t worry. I will find the best therapist to cure your depression.”
Sending her mother to the hospital was never her choice.
But her mother was in too much pain. The only way to truly help her was to fight for the shares of the Gu Corporation using the law.
She would never allow her mother’s hard-earned achievements to fall into the pockets of that beastly family.
Yet, even with a net worth of billions, she found no joy.
What she truly wanted was simple—a warm, loving family.
But that beast had shattered it, pushing her mother into the depths of suffering.
And the fiancé she had once liked? He had betrayed her at the most crucial moment—choosing her stepsister instead.
Was she unwilling to accept it? Not really. More than anything, it was humiliating.
Humiliating that she had once invested emotions in someone like that.
Ding!
A message notification popped up.
It was from a pinned contact:
Lin Muyu: Manman, I have always truly loved you. I hope you understand my difficulties!
Lin Muyu: If you’d let me, I’d take care of you for life, shield you from all harm, and ensure your peace and happiness!
Gu Man grabbed her phone, her delicate brows furrowing.
Ugh. Annoying.
She had been too busy lately and forgot to delete him.
Without hesitation, she blocked and deleted him in one go—instant peace.
The next second—
A message from an unknown number appeared:
“Sis, Lin and I are a match made in heaven. Stop being unreasonable, will you?”
Attached was a photo of a massive diamond ring on her stepsister’s hand.
Gu Man rolled her eyes.
Her fingers flew across the keyboard.
“Sorry, sis. With my net worth, I could buy two of those, throw one away, and still have another to put on a dog.”
With that, she blocked the number and set her phone to reject messages from unknown contacts.
The world fell silent once more.
Satisfied, her tension eased, and she finally fell asleep.
What she didn’t know was that her phone had started glowing, its screen flickering as a mysterious program installed itself.
[Target phone detected. Expanding storage… 1%, 2%, 10%… 100%…]

The next day, sunlight pierced through the window, forcing her eyes open.
Her head throbbed like an explosion.
Dazed, she suddenly heard a deep, magnetic voice, filled with desperation:
“Does a savior truly exist in this world? If so, I beg you—please save my people. I will give my life, serve as your humble servant, if only you would help us!”
The voice was incredibly pleasant—ten thousand times better than Lin Muyu’s so-called “deep voice.”
Her usual headaches eased by half.
“Who’s talking?”
She looked around, only to find her phone glowing.
On the screen, a handsome yet commanding man was speaking.
She couldn’t help but stare.
That face. That presence.
It hit her right in the heart.
“Is this a game? Game modeling has gotten this advanced?”
“If a man like this existed in real life, he’d outshine every single entertainment industry pretty boy!”
She clicked on the screen.
Other than his one line, nothing else happened.
She saw him pacing back and forth in what looked like a post-apocalyptic conference room. His lonely and solemn figure stirred something in her.
He looked like he needed help.
“What’s going on? How do I trigger the plot?”
“Do I have to spend money?”
Most games required microtransactions to progress smoothly.
For a man this stunning, she wouldn’t mind spending.
But after checking—
“No in-game purchases?”
No $1 bundles, no $2 bundles, no $15 packs, no $50 deals, no $100 top-ups. Nothing.
That’s not normal…
Then, she noticed a round button that looked like a camera shutter.
Curious, she pressed it.
[Detected transmittable food: Chicken stew with mushrooms, braised pork, pork stew with glass noodles, stir-fried greens with lard, tomato egg soup. Would you like to transmit?]
Transmit?
Transmit where?
Gu Man hesitated.
These were dishes her housekeeper had prepared, but she could never finish them. She’d take a few bites, and the rest would go to waste.
She knew it was wasteful, but the housekeeper always insisted on preparing a variety of dishes, hoping she’d eat more.
With a snap, the food vanished.
[Transmission complete.]
Gu Man almost dropped her phone.
WTF—did my phone just gain sentience?!
She clenched it tightly, resisting the urge to throw it away.
Then, she looked at the game screen—
The food had appeared on the desk inside the post-apocalyptic world.
The handsome city lord finally reacted.
Gu Man’s eyes widened.
Did… did it actually get transmitted?!
Year 2366, Xuanwu Base.
The futuristic city lay in ruins, its walls stained with ancient, dried blood.
The air was thick with despair.
With no energy left, they had been rationing heat from once a day to once a week.
Food was so scarce that even rats and cockroaches had died out.
People starved, grew sick, and lost all hope.
Until—
Plates of steaming, fragrant food appeared out of thin air.
The room fell silent.
Everyone stared, slack-jawed, at the impossible feast before them.
