Hoarding Billions of Supplies, I Sustain the Apocalypse Base Chapter 13

Chapter 13: The Savior Begins to Act!

“Grandpa, Grandpa, is this instant noodles?”

Shi Hai’s little grandson, Shi Yan, blinked his eyes curiously and asked.

He was also extremely skinny, but after eating some braised pork with vermicelli earlier, he had regained some strength.

At this moment, he was excitedly trying to see the instant noodles.

“Yes, this is the instant noodles bestowed by the Savior. Look at the packaging, it even has the instructions. Can you read the words on it?”

Shi Hai teased his little grandson.

Seeing his grandson’s vitality return, he felt an indescribable joy in his heart.

Thanks to the Savior, thanks to the City Lord!

“I can read it! This one is mushroom chicken noodle, this one is pork fish noodle, and this one is tomato noodle!”

“Grandpa will cook noodles today, which flavor do you want to eat?”

Shi Yan was having trouble deciding, as he wanted to eat all of them.

After some thought, he chose the tomato flavor.

“Why did you pick this one?”

Shi Hai asked.

“Mushroom chicken has two kinds of vegetables, and the pork fish must be from a species that’s already extinct, so I want to save those for later,” Shi Yan explained.

All three flavors of noodles looked delicious, but the meat was definitely the better option.

His daughter-in-law, Yu Zhu, and his son, Shi Rui, exchanged smiles.

They had just eaten some pork and were already satisfied.

Now that his father brought back noodles and sausages, they didn’t know what to say.

“Dad, the Savior is so wonderful, we don’t deserve this!”

How precious this food must be!

Shi Hai was opening the packet when he paused at his son’s words.

“You’re right. We don’t deserve this. Let’s eat the food the Savior gave us and pay back the favor well!”

“Dad, what does the Savior like?”

“Crystal cores, gold, high-tech items… as long as you have something valuable, the Savior will like it.”

Yu Zhu and Shi Rui exchanged a look.

Yu Zhu was a B-level wood-based ability user, but with everything frozen and plants extinct, she had nothing to practice with.

Shi Rui, an A-level electric-type ability user, could hunt down a few mutant beasts.

Shi Yan blinked.

“Then I’ll become a scientist. Whatever the Savior likes, I’ll research it.”

Everyone laughed.

Shi Hai placed the instant noodles into a steel pot he had crafted from battle rewards.

The base had no surplus resources, so he had exchanged some battle achievements for this piece of scrap steel.

Many others had made the same choice.

He poured water into the pot, placed the noodle blocks inside, and lit a fire.

Everyone watched in awe.

Is this how you cook instant noodles in the Golden Age?

How luxurious!

“Here, chew on this,”

Shi Hai handed the small bits from the packet to his grandson, Shi Yan, who took them eagerly.

Gurgle.

The fire boiled the water.

The fragrance of the noodles filled the air, bringing warmth and satisfaction to the cold winter.

The family couldn’t help but stretch their necks to smell the aroma.

Once the seasoning was added, the smell became even richer.

Just as they thought this was the best part, Shi Hai suddenly spoke.

“A miracle is about to happen.”

He pulled out a sausage and, with extraordinary knife skills, sliced it into thousands of pieces before adding them to the pot.

The family watched as if witnessing a divine miracle.

Shi Yan wiped the drool from his mouth.

Was this the deliciousness they could taste?

“Here, one bowl for each of you!”

Shi Hai grinned and handed out bowls and chopsticks, all made from the same scrap steel.

He believed that in the future, many people would exchange battle rewards for scrap steel.

Thank goodness he had acted quickly.

Holding the warm bowl, inhaling the fragrant steam, everyone’s faces lit up with joy.

“Eat up! Daughter-in-law, you’ve been recovering since giving birth to Yan’er. You should eat more!”

Shi Rui silently placed sausage in his wife’s bowl.

Yu Zhu turned her head, her eyes reddening.

She had risked her life to give birth, almost dying in the process.

But she felt it was all worth it.

Even if it was just for this moment.

“Eat, everyone, eat. There’s more, there’s more!”

The family happily dug into their noodles.

The smooth, chewy noodles, rich in flavor, nourished their bodies and hearts…

Gu Man had a wonderful nap.

She was in a deep, restful sleep the entire time.

Her body felt warm, as though countless small hands had massaged her from the inside out, making her feel like she was floating on a cloud.

When she woke up, the world was clearer.

Her mind was refreshed, a hundred times more energized!

She felt incredibly comfortable and relaxed.

It felt like she had shed a muddy, heavy shell and was completely reborn.

Her eyes were bright again, and the slight nearsightedness she had accumulated from hours of studying had disappeared.

Her sense of smell was sharper, her nose was clear, and the nasal issues she’d suffered from the cold had vanished.

Her hearing was excellent. She could hear the cats playing outside the window, the birds chirping, and even the sound of Zhang Ma[1]Its Mother Zhang or auntie Zhang opening the door.

Zhang Ma was here!

Gu Man leaped out of bed immediately.

She quickly tidied up.

Though Zhang Ma never entered her room without reason, she locked the door just in case.

She couldn’t let anyone find out about the world-ending events.

At least not right now.

She rushed to the bathroom to turn off the faucet.

Otherwise, it would be hard to explain.

Thankfully, Zhang Ma was aware of her habits and didn’t come too early. There were still two hours until the scheduled time.

“Miss,”

Zhang Ma, seeing her emerge from the bathroom, froze for a moment.

“You look really good today.”

Shopping really worked?

It seemed that venting her frustration was necessary.

“Mm, I put on some makeup.”

Gu Man replied.

“I’m going out today, you don’t need to cook for me, and you don’t need to stay here either.”

Zhang Ma nodded.

“It’s good to go out for a while. Being cooped up at home will drive anyone crazy.”

She took out a cloth bag, revealing some plump, round buns inside.

“These are the buns I made last night. They’re filled with chives, eggs, and pork. My grandson loves them, so I brought some for you too.”

Gu Man’s eyes lit up.

Her stomach growled, and she eagerly took one, savoring the flavor.

Her digestion wasn’t great, so she usually couldn’t eat much in the morning.

But now, she thought these buns were amazing.

She even considered sending some to Song Lufeng.

He’d probably love them too.

“Thanks, Zhang Ma. These buns are delicious.”

Zhang Ma smiled, relieved.

Eating well meant everything was fine.

“Alright, miss, go on with your business. I’ll be heading back now.”

Zhang Ma turned to leave.

After a moment, she turned back.

“Miss, have you adopted another stray cat? You’re really something, taming all the cats and dogs that come your way.”

Gu Man gave a vague answer.

Zhang Ma didn’t think much of it. Her miss was beautiful and kind-hearted, always rescuing stray cats and dogs.

After Zhang Ma left, the property manager called.

“Miss Gu, the faucet in your house wasn’t turned off. We’ve wasted 15 tons of water, and when we came to knock, you didn’t open the door.”

Gu Man stepped outside, and the little red bird swooped into her bag.

“It was my mistake. I’ll make sure to turn it off next time. Thanks for the reminder.”

“No need to thank us. It’s our job.”

Gu Man thought that tap water still wasn’t ideal. She wondered if river or lake water could be transported here.

If not, she’d just have to buy more bottled water.

She took a photo of the buns and sent it, leaving a voice message.

“Song City Lord, have you had breakfast? Let me treat you to some buns.”

“Today I’m going to the breeding farm to discuss some big deals, so you’ll get meat for sure!”

With that, she set off with a clear goal.

She was full of energy now.

After all, the Xuanwu Base had 300,000 people to feed!

There was no time to waste, and the task was heavy!

However, just as she stepped out the door, she encountered three unexpected visitors.
