Nan Muran leaned towards Zhou Ling and lowered her voice: “Help me collect information on those scholars with more extreme attitudes.”
Zhou Ling nodded, understanding that these scholars probably didn’t have much of a future.
“Big shot, my dad wants to invite you to dinner, would that be alright?”
“We’ll leave after the exchange session, but if time allows on our way back, we can have a meal together,” Nan Muran didn’t directly refuse.
Zhou Ling nodded without pressing further.
When the group left, Zhou Ling had the chef prepare many dishes that were easy to store and heat up, placing them in the car’s trunk.
Even Zhou Gang came out to see them off.
“Make sure to visit when you’re on your way back,” Zhou Gang said earnestly.
He had always thought his son was useless, but ever since meeting these people, his son had clearly changed. He was really grateful to them.
Nan Muran smiled and nodded in acknowledgment.
The group set off in their cars.
“Looks like we’ll have to take a detour. It will take about three hours to reach the ancient county. Do you think there are still any living people in that county?” The Eagle glanced at the map, uncertain about the area near the water.
“It shouldn’t be devoid of life. Beyond that place, there are mountains and forests,” Si Ye said淡淡.
After three hours of driving, the group entered the ancient county. The entire county was filled with dark red buildings, and the tall buildings in the night looked like ghostly black shadows, making one shiver in fear.
The headlights of the cars shone far down the empty streets, with no end in sight.
“Muran…” Jia Wu, sitting in the passenger seat, looked ahead.
Following his gaze, the others noticed a hotel sign not far away, glowing with colorful lights. People were even coming in and out of the entrance.
“Evernight Hotel? What a strange name,” The Eagle frowned.
Nan Muran used her psychic abilities to probe, but strangely, she found that her abilities couldn’t penetrate the hotel: “Let’s drive closer and take a look.”
As their car stopped in front of the hotel, a man in a long black down jacket greeted them with a smile and a standard tone: “Welcome to the Evernight Hotel. To the right ahead is the parking lot, you can park there.”
Nan Muran motioned for the Eagle to park, and the four behind them followed to the parking lot.
After getting out of the car, everyone displayed wary expressions.
“This hotel feels off,” Han Yingtian whispered.
Nan Muran nodded: “We’ve arrived. Let’s go inside and see what’s going on.”
As the nine of them entered the hotel lobby, another tall man with a smiling face greeted them: “Welcome to the Evernight Hotel. Are you here for a meal or to stay?”
“Both. We’ll stay and eat,” Nan Muran replied casually.
“Please follow me,” the man maintained a perfect service smile and led them to a round table. The half-circle sofas and chairs were arranged in a unique way with specially designed lighting overhead.
After they sat down, the man took a menu from a nearby shelf: “Here’s our menu, you can also let me know your accommodation needs.”
“Four suites will be fine.”
The waiter was momentarily stunned but then continued in a gentle tone: “A suite for one night costs 50 primary crystal cores or one secondary crystal core. Food can be used to offset the cost, one pound of food for one room per day.”
“Wow, that’s quite expensive,” The Eagle couldn’t help but exclaim.
The waiter still maintained a perfect smile and remained calm: “How will you be paying?”
“Please book us for five days,” Nan Muran said, placing 20 secondary crystal cores on the table.
After the waiter took the cores, he opened the menu and handed it back to them.
The group was surprised to see the rich variety of food and appetizing pictures on the menu, with many vegetables. Where did this hotel come from?
“Can you make this vegetable salad and fruit pizza?” Cheng Cheng asked cautiously.
“Of course, anything on the menu can be made,” the waiter replied.
“A roast lamb leg, sweet and sour pork, stir-fried noodles, glutinous rice lotus root with yam, clay pot vermicelli shrimp…” Cheng Cheng chose the dishes after consulting the group without holding back.
After the waiter quickly confirmed the order, he looked at the group with a smile: “The meal costs five third-level crystal cores or one fourth-level crystal core.”
The group gasped in surprise.
“Can’t we pay with food?” Xi Xi asked uncertainly.
The waiter smiled politely: “No, food can only be used to pay for the room, not for the meal.”
Nan Muran smiled and handed a fourth-level crystal core to the waiter: “Please bring the food out quickly.”
The waiter couldn’t help but tremble slightly as he took the yellow crystal core from her hand.
Since Evernight Hotel was laid out like an ancient inn, with dining areas on the first and second floors and accommodations starting on the fourth floor, there were quite a few people dining on the first floor. Many, however, were discouraged by the high food prices and ordered only the simplest dishes.
But to their surprise, someone paid generously with no bargaining, offering the crystal cores directly.
“Little sister, you’re so generous. I, Liu Mei, can’t be stingy. Here’s a bottle of 60-year-old liquor, consider it a thank you gift,” a woman in a red dress and fur coat walked over, placing a bottle of liquor on the table.
Nan Muran looked at her. The woman was about 1.6 meters tall, wearing 10-centimeter red high heels. Her figure was voluptuous and seductive, with meticulously styled wavy hair, bright red lips, and even her nails painted red.
“Are you the owner of this hotel?”
Liu Mei looked at the young woman before her, who had round eyes and fair skin, looking young but with an aura that made her impossible to underestimate: “Liu Mei, the owner of Evernight Hotel.”
“Thank you, Boss Liu, for the liquor,” Nan Muran said politely, smiling and nodding slightly.
“You’re really a remarkable person,” Liu Mei said, somewhat surprised. She had never met a girl like this since the apocalypse.
“Thank you for the compliment, Boss Liu.”
Seeing Nan Muran’s graceful response, Liu Mei’s smile deepened: “I like people who are open and bright like you. Ah Qian, return their meal money. This meal is on me, Liu Mei.”
After taking back the fourth-level crystal core, Liu Mei swayed away with a charming posture. Nan Muran’s gaze grew deeper. She couldn’t detect Liu Mei’s ability at all and couldn’t sense her ability level.
At the same time, a man and a woman entered the hotel’s main entrance.
“Muran, it’s them.”
Looking back, the man at the door was Xing Chen, wearing a khaki woolen coat, different from his appearance in the picture Nan Muran had. The girl beside him hadn’t changed.
Xing Chen sensed their gaze and looked up. His eyes met with a pair of beautiful doe-like eyes, the sparkling light in them made him slightly surprised.
After snapping back to reality, he nodded slightly as a greeting to Nan Muran.
Nan Muran silently watched Xing Chen and the girl but didn’t speak. She had a feeling that this control-type ability user, Xing Chen, had also come for the fruit tree in the forest later.
