Apocalypse: Living the Good Life Deep in the Mountains
Apocalypse: Living the Good Life Deep in the Mountains Chapter 161: Xuan Yue Leaves

Unfortunately, there was no response to her call, and the space was so still that it felt as if the blood itself had stopped flowing. Not even an echo could be heard here.

With a sigh of helplessness, she wondered if she had gone mad, naively thinking that the Xuan Mist had life.

As for the sudden upgrade of the Xuan Mist, Nan Muran credited it to the large green treasure inside Mount Ling. Clearly, the decision to move this thing was brilliant.

Then, something even more shocking happened. She actually felt that both her plant-based and mental powers had increased.

Her plant-based ability reached the early stage of level 5, while her mental ability reached the mid stage of level 5.

It was probably because of the large, glowing, green thing in front of her. It had to be said that the power of this object was quite extraordinary. She wondered if there were any side effects.

But for now, none of that mattered. In the apocalypse, strength was paramount.

After considering this, Nan Muran decided to leave the space to avoid worrying Si Ye and the others.

As soon as she landed, the seven small creatures without any energy to nourish them quickly crawled up her left arm. To them, the absence of Nan Muran felt utterly insecure.

“What happened?” Si Ye asked, scanning Nan Muran up and down to confirm she was unharmed, letting out a relieved breath.

“The Xuan Mist upgraded.” Nan Muran answered directly.

“Upgraded? How?” Jia Wu was puzzled. They didn’t know much about the Xuan Mist and had no idea how space could upgrade.

Si Ye thought for a moment and guessed, “It got bigger?”

“Yeah, it’s a lot bigger. Unfortunately, there’s not much chance to stock up now.” Nan Muran said helplessly.

“Maybe there will be a chance. After all, it’s a good thing. Let’s finish breakfast and head down the mountain quickly.” Si Ye began to help Jia Wu unpack the convenient tables and chairs they had prepared the night before.

Nan Muran then took out a large amount of breakfast. The wolf king once again joined them in exploring the new culinary world, especially enjoying the various meat-filled buns.

One bite after another, it was pure bliss.

After finishing breakfast and packing up their things, the treeman opened the cave entrance. A sharp coldness rushed in from the cave’s entrance.

“This temperature’s off.” Si Ye and Jia Wu both reacted and glanced outside. They realized that the snow had reached waist height, and the snow surface had started to freeze.

Jia Wu frowned. “It’s about minus twenty degrees.”

“With this situation, it’s unrealistic to walk down the mountain.” Si Ye looked at the snow, which was almost half his height, frowning.

Nan Muran thought for a moment. “I have skis and a snowboat. Want to try one?”

“Snowboat.” Both of them said almost simultaneously, not because they wanted to, but purely out of curiosity.

When they saw the yellow plastic boat, both Si Ye and Jia Wu instantly became awkward, but in the end, the three of them, along with the wolf, still got on.

As the snowboat zipped through the mountains like lightning, their hearts almost jumped out. This thing seemed a bit dangerous, and more importantly, it was hard to control.

When facing a huge steep slope, the three of them almost flew off the boat.

The treeman and Xiao Liu on Nan Muran’s left arm immediately jumped out and protected them. At the same time, the two little creatures resigned themselves to their fate, each on one side, ensuring that the three people and the wolf wouldn’t fall off while helping control the snowboat, guiding it safely down the mountain.

Meanwhile, the normally quiet Xiao Bai was pulled out to help clear the path ahead. Without the three little creatures helping with all their might, they would have overturned the boat countless times.

They definitely wouldn’t have safely reached the mechanical electrical factory’s family compound.

Due to the sudden drop in temperature, the Eagle family and Seven Jin were worried about them, so they waited at the family compound’s entrance.

“Is that them?” The Eagle’s father looked at the small black dots speeding down from the mountain top, his heart pounding, his voice trembling.

The Eagle wasn’t sure either.

Seven Jin, on the side, silently nodded. “It’s them.”

It had to be said that they were playing quite recklessly. The speed they were going at didn’t look like they were skiing down. It was more like a visual impact as if they were falling off the mountain.

Only when the three people and the wolf safely appeared on the opposite street did the Eagle’s parents, older brother Fu Chao, and good friends Tao Zi fail to realize what had happened.

“Ranyan, you’re back!” Seven Jin, who had predicted their successful return, wasn’t too worried.

Nan Muran rubbed the little guy’s head. “Did you eat breakfast?”

“I’ve eaten.”

Nan Muran nodded with relief and then looked back at the Eagle. “The extreme cold might come early. We need to head back to the mountain as soon as possible. How do you plan to arrange for your family?”

“I want to take them back to the Western City safe base.” The Eagle said without hesitation. If the apocalypse continued, he would only feel secure if his family was close to him.

“Okay, then let’s quickly pack up and leave. We should also stop by the Lan City safe base.” The Ouyang and Chen families had close ties to the underground laboratory. If things went well with Zhou Ling’s side, she might have unexpected gains.

The Eagle nodded. “Sister Nan, there’s something else I need your help with.”

When the Eagle and Seven Jin returned to the mechanical electrical factory, they were right on time to intercept the people who had intended to harm their families.

One of them was the person who had led the team when the Eagle’s sister-in-law went out to search for food. The Eagle thought that with his methods, he could figure things out, but to his surprise, no matter what, the person didn’t budge.

After hearing this, Nan Muran immediately understood. “Okay, leave it to me.”

After saying that, they planned to go straight into the family compound. After walking a few steps, Nan Muran looked back at the still motionless wolf king. “Xuan Yue, aren’t you leaving?”

The wolf king looked at Nan Muran with what seemed to be many complex emotions in its eyes but ultimately didn’t move.

Nan Muran understood its meaning. The wolf king was never just about itself. It had its wolf pack, its family. They had followed it for miles to get here, and it couldn’t just abandon them.

She first retracted the vines controlling its abilities, then took out five mutated fruits from the space and packed them into a bag. “Xuan Yue, take care of yourself wherever you are. I hope we can meet again.”

The wolf king, looking a little lost, nudged Nan Muran’s hand with its head before turning and heading back to Ling Mountain without looking back.

It wasn’t until its figure disappeared into the forest that Jia Wu frowned in dissatisfaction. “What’s the meaning of this? Just leaving like that?”

He had always thought that after everything they had gone through, Xuan Yue would follow them back.

“If it leaves, it leaves. Are we supposed to drag it back?” Nan Muran said indifferently. The most meaningful thing in this world is understanding, but the least meaningful thing is the same understanding.

Besides making herself feel better, it couldn’t change any outcome, and she was someone who cared about results.
