“Doesn’t the Qi family on the thirteenth floor have her fiancé? How could she still act like this?”
“Fiancé? I don’t know about that, I haven’t heard anything like that.
The Qi family is a bit special. They have a doctor, a security captain, and they didn’t take any of their supplies. Instead, they regularly send basic supplies to them.
After the twelve-story building was robbed, they went to find them, demanding that they compensate for their girl’s losses. I heard they were kicked out by the Qi family matriarch in the end.
Dr. Qi didn’t seem to care about them after that.” The little security guard, seeing that Nan Muran was willing to listen to his gossip, thought that his life might be spared and started speaking with even more enthusiasm.
He silently thought to himself: as long as he kept talking, maybe this terrifying figure would forget about killing him.
Nan Muran, while listening to the little guard’s endless chatter, figured out the situation she wanted.
After killing these four, it wouldn’t count the little guard in front of her.
There were still twenty people on the twenty-first floor, sixteen of whom were former members of the security team, and the other four had come with this old man.
The two men who came with the old man were somewhat capable, so they were dangerous. The two women seemed like they had been picked up from the street. The security team had often bullied them, but these people had never cared.
Nan Muran thought to herself: It’s been a month since the apocalypse, yet these scumbags are still alive and well.
“You, help me out,” Nan Muran interrupted the little security guard, who was still spitting out words.
Nan Muran knew that since she had already killed today, she needed to completely eliminate the security team to prevent them from scheming something vile against her when they returned.
She wasn’t arrogant enough to believe that because she had a gun and skills, she could face any crisis head-on.
However, fighting twenty people at the same time, even with a gun in hand, would be very difficult. She needed a strategy to deal with them in smaller groups.
This little security guard could still be useful.
The guard was so frightened by her sudden words that his legs went weak, but he could only tremble and say, “You say.”
“I want to kill all of them, and I need your help. If you do this well, I’ll spare your life and reward you.
If you fail, I’ll kill you along with them.” Nan Muran’s tone was cold.
“Okay, don’t kill me. I’ll do whatever you say.” The little guard, not daring to think about the reward, only wanted to keep his life.
Anyway, the security team hadn’t done a single good deed these past days. Killing them wouldn’t bring him any guilt.
Nan Muran didn’t plan to fight them head-on, after all, two fists can’t beat four hands, and the two who came with the old man definitely weren’t easy characters.
After thinking it through, she took out her handgun from behind and attached a suppressor.
The little guard, watching her skillful movements and the gun in her hand, couldn’t control himself and shuddered. Then he felt warmth in his thigh and completely wet himself from fear.
“You go back and send a message to them, tell them these guys need help. It’s best if you can trick those two capable ones to come over first.” After preparing, Nan Muran nodded toward the several bodies in the hallway.
After understanding her plan, the little guard quickly ran downstairs straight to the twenty-first floor.
Nan Muran returned to the stairwell, gently closed the fire door, and took out a night vision device, putting it on.
She then gripped her gun with both hands, leaned against the safety door, and, using the glass on the door, kept an eye on the movements in the stairwell. This way, even if the little guard had any ill intentions, she would be able to handle it in time.
About twenty minutes later, footsteps and crude male voices began to appear in the stairwell.
“Dammit, can’t even handle a little girl.”
“She disturbed my sleep, once I get in there, I’m going to kill that girl.”
“You might not be willing, she’s quite the beauty.”
…
Their filthy words filled Nan Muran’s ears, and her murderous intent grew stronger as she stared through the night vision goggles.
The leader, not noticing the bodies piled up in the hallway, tripped and fell.
“What the hell?” The man swore, trying to get up, when suddenly the warm touch under his hand made him realize something was wrong. “This… is a body.”
The others, coming up behind, didn’t have time to react and also tripped, grabbing a nearby flashlight.
“Captain Lin, old man He…” After seeing the bodies’ faces, the leader’s expression changed drastically.
There was no need to wait for their next move. A faint “pfft” sound echoed in their ears, and the person holding the flashlight suddenly fell.
The flashlight spun in a circle on the ground before falling through the railing.
The stairwell was plunged into complete darkness.
In the dark, the fire door was pushed open, and a series of “pfft” sounds followed.
“Run, there’s a gun!” One of the men, realizing his companions were falling one after another, was the first to react.
But it was too late. Nan Muran’s shooting skills were honed through special training.
Even on a rainy night, she wouldn’t miss, especially indoors in a situation where the enemy couldn’t see her. The close-range shooting was flawless.
The little security guard, watching the ten people fall in less than a minute, trembled with fear.
“Is Zhang Kun not here?” Nan Muran glanced coldly at the dead bodies and frowned slightly, clearly displeased.
“He’s busy, so he didn’t come out.” The little security guard’s voice shook.
Nan Muran raised her brow and changed the magazine.
Not dying immediately was fine; Zhang Kun was someone worth treating specially.
She looked at the little guard indifferently. “Let’s go. Take me to the twenty-first floor.”
The little security guard, seeing the “tank” gritting its teeth behind her, could only nod timidly. “Okay.”
The two of them, along with the dog, started to sneak downstairs until they reached the door of the twenty-first-floor apartment.
The little guard trembled as he input the password. With a click, the door lock opened.
The entire apartment building had independent elevators and units, and the layout of the apartments was mostly the same.
This unit had been the model apartment when the building was first sold, so Nan Muran was naturally familiar with it.
After giving the little guard a glance, she followed him inside.
Fortunately, the dark night and the heavy rain outside provided enough cover, so the noise upstairs didn’t alert anyone inside.
After they successfully entered, the little security guard closed the door at Nan Muran’s signal. The living room in front of them was completely dark.
“How’s it going, Xiao Wang? You haven’t still failed to deal with that girl, have you?” A man, breathing heavily, shouted roughly as he entered the storage room.
Nan Muran signaled the little guard to stabilize the situation.
“No, Brother Zhang, I came back to get some tools for Master Liu. The door was a bit hard to open.” The little guard tried his best to sound normal.
“It’s no use, call me if you can’t…”
“Dammit, you’re laying under me, enjoying yourself like a corpse, why aren’t you calling out?” The slap followed by Zhang Kun’s curse came through, and he didn’t say anything more.
The little guard let out a sigh of relief, continuing to lead Nan Muran deeper into the house. “That’s the break room.”
