A woman who had just killed twenty-four people and could still remain so calm and collected was even more terrifying than the bullies in the security team.
After all, the security team’s intentions were clear—they only wanted women and supplies. As long as their needs were met, they wouldn’t go as far as to kill everyone.
But this beautiful girl, or rather, this woman in front of them, was different. She was powerful, cold-blooded, and bloodthirsty. Most importantly, she was mysterious and unpredictable, and they could not guess her thoughts.
In the current environment, the unknown was the greatest fear.
“Idol, does this mean we’ll be paying our protection fee to you from now on?” The little fanboy didn’t think there was anything to fear about the top-tier beauty that was Nan Muran. On the contrary, her indifference made him think she was cool and impressive.
Nan Muran took out an inflatable raft from her backpack and began inflating it in front of everyone. “No need.”
Everyone around her exchanged confused glances—what didn’t they need?
Nan Muran couldn’t be bothered with these irrelevant people’s thoughts. She directly got on the raft with Tank.
Last night, Zhang Kun had mentioned a military supplies warehouse, and she wanted to check it out. As for food, she had enough to last hundreds of years in her space, so that was not important. But other military supplies, she was quite interested in.
“Hurry up! The little security guard on the 21st floor said they’re returning the food they took earlier!” A middle-aged woman from upstairs shouted.
Everyone around froze for a moment, then scattered in a frenzy.
After all, in the current world, supplies were more important than anything else.
Nan Muran glanced at the little fanboy who hadn’t moved from his spot, his eyes full of longing. “Aren’t you going to claim your supplies?”
“Idol, take me with you!” The little fanboy gathered his courage and looked at Nan Muran with hopeful eyes.
He knew very well that in the apocalypse, following a strong person was much more useful than relying on oneself.
Hearing this, Nan Muran couldn’t be bothered to respond. She just took Tank and rowed the raft away.
The little fanboy watched her disappear into the distance, feeling regretful. As expected, powerful people liked being alone.
The military warehouse Zhang Kun had mentioned was about 15 kilometers away from the apartment. If she rowed the raft there, it would be too tiring.
So, after leaving the residential area, Nan Muran found a more secluded spot, switched to a small motorboat, and set out.
The rain had been pouring for nearly forty days, and the water level had risen over twenty meters. Only the higher buildings still poked out of the water, making the entire city resemble a vast sea.
Since the rain was heavy today, there were very few people on the streets, which spared her from unnecessary trouble.
However, when she arrived at the location, Nan Muran realized that the once-abandoned warehouse area had turned into a silent lake with no signs to identify it.
In this situation, the only way to judge the location was by the buildings that were still visible above the water. But in order to accurately find the military warehouse, she would have to dive underwater.
After roughly determining the location, she parked the motorboat near the closest abandoned building and hid it.
She changed into her diving suit and dived into the water. “Tank, stay on the boat. I’ll be back soon.”
Tank barked in response, acknowledging her.
Nan Muran patted Tank’s head and dove underwater. The water level had already reached nearly thirty meters, but fortunately, she was well-equipped, or she wouldn’t have been able to manage.
After reaching the location, she began searching underwater for the warehouse Zhang Kun had mentioned.
Suddenly, a massive shape flashed past her, giving her a fright. Although she didn’t see it clearly, based on the size, Nan Muran guessed it was a species that could only exist in the sea. But the West City was inland, so that shouldn’t be the case.
Regardless of what had passed by, she had to hurry.
After diving through the entire abandoned industrial area for quite a while, Nan Muran finally spotted a large door with a star painted on it in the distance.
Since she didn’t have experience opening locks, she got some help from Xiao Liu to unlock the highly secure warehouse door.
Inside the warehouse, almost everything was floating in the water.
The rice and flour had been soaked for so long they were undoubtedly spoiled, so Nan Muran just stepped over them and kept diving forward.
After about ten meters, she found many self-heating meals, compressed biscuits, and self-heating pots. These were all sealed in packaging and hadn’t gone bad, so she decided to take some.
There were also military backpacks, boots, helmets, camouflage uniforms, and various individual meal kits, which she could take too.
But because the fabric was soaked and she wasn’t sure if it would affect the other items in her space, Nan Muran didn’t take too many.
She kept diving until she reached the back of the warehouse, where she finally found what she had been looking for.
The most advanced combat weapons in the world, along with matching ammunition and a full set of individual combat equipment. She immediately grabbed all the weapons, racks and all, and stored them in her space.
After spending time with Jia Wu, she knew enough about weapons and was confident that even though these items had been submerged in water for a long time, they would still be fully functional.
Not wanting to worry about Tank, Nan Muran quickly gathered the items she wanted and headed back.
Just as she surfaced, she heard Tank barking from inside the building.
“Tank!” Nan Muran swam quickly to the building where Tank was and discovered that Tank was barking wildly on the boat, surrounded by sharks.
She realized that in order to rescue Tank, she would have to swim through the shark swarm, which wasn’t realistic.
Calming herself, she quickly scanned the surroundings and noticed a staircase not far behind her. There was also a platform behind Tank with a staircase.
“Tank, forget the boat. Jump onto the platform behind you!” she shouted, signaling with her hand to make sure Tank understood her.
Hearing her voice and seeing her gestures, Tank looked back, confirmed the position, and jumped over without hesitation.
At that very moment, a shark leaped out of the water and tried to bite Tank’s rear leg.
Seeing that Tank’s leg was about to be bitten, Nan Muran didn’t hesitate. She shot the shark in the head, causing it to fall back into the water, and Tank safely landed on the platform.
“Tank, you can go around the building from above,” Nan Muran continued.
However, this large movement exposed her position, and the shark swarm quickly turned toward her.
Nan Muran had no choice but to use all her strength and swim toward the staircase without looking back. Fortunately, the distance wasn’t far.
In the final moment, just as the sharks’ terrifying mouths were about to reach her, she barely managed to climb up.
Leaning against the wall, looking at the sharks circling below, Nan Muran’s mind went blank, filled with fear. Her chest felt tight, and she started gasping uncontrollably.
It wasn’t until she heard Tank’s barking that she snapped out of it and quickly took off her heavy diving suit, storing it in her space.
“Xiao Liu, I need you to help pull the boat back,” Nan Muran said as she circled back to the boat’s location with Tank.
Xiao Liu stretched out a willow branch and pulled the boat forward, bringing it right under the platform. Nan Muran reached out and stored the boat in her space.
The sharks continued to circle below, and Nan Muran looked at the sharks in the building in surprise. “Were they kept here before?”
Before she could figure out what was going on with the sharks in the building, Xiao Liu’s branch suddenly moved.
“Has someone come to take Qi Li?” Nan Muran cursed herself. Why did they have to show up now?
This was the exact spot where Xiao Liu sensed Qi Li’s life force reaching its limit, meaning she couldn’t wait for even a moment.
Naturally, Nan Muran hadn’t expected that they would come to take Qi Li in such terrible weather. But their actions now meant that the underground laboratory had been activated much earlier than they had anticipated.
