Nan Muran also used the headlights of the car to get a clear look at the group in front of her.
Among them, one person who seemed particularly timid was the manager from the renovation company who had been in charge of the villa project.
“Brother Hao, that’s her, the owner of the villa I mentioned. She’s the only one in the villa, and now that she’s here, the villa must be nearby,” the renovation company’s project manager said as he saw Nan Muran, almost grasping at his last chance.
A burly man followed the direction he pointed to.
When he saw Nan Muran clearly, his eyes immediately lit up. His voice took on a lascivious and arrogant tone as he began to tease, “Oh, she’s quite a beautiful girl.”
At that moment, Jia Wu, who had been inside the villa, also came out.
Because the villa’s front door was very heavy, the muffled sound of it closing startled Brother Hao and his group in front of the villa.
“Brother Hao, look, it’s that place,” the renovation company’s manager said excitedly. “The person in charge of Tiandun Group said this is a top-tier safe house. So, this villa must still have endless food inside.”
His words only fueled the group’s greed. A safe living environment and endless food were the greatest luxuries in this apocalypse.
Nan Muran coldly looked at the renovation company’s manager. “Didn’t Tiandun tell you? It’s best not to come here, or you’ll die.”
“Die? Just the two of you?” Brother Hao looked at Nan Muran, who was beautiful but clearly slender, and then glanced at Jia Wu, who stood by the villa’s front door with a strong build. It seemed like he had heard the biggest joke.
Nan Muran shut the car door, her knife flipping in her hand as the sound of it increased in pitch. “Wu-ge, there are nineteen in total, shall we compare?”
Jia Wu, hearing her words, smirked slightly, showing a murderous smile. He also put away the gun in his hand.
“Xiao Liu, give us some light.” Nan Muran lightly touched Xiao Liu.
Instantly, plants in several places of the villa’s windows slowly moved aside, and the light that shone from inside illuminated the entire area in front of the villa.
Brother Hao and his group became visibly excited when they saw the villa lit up. This place was perfect for them. With it, they could establish their own base and live like ancient emperors in luxury.
“Little girl, I have brothers and skills. Follow me, and you won’t regret it,” Brother Hao said again, looking at Nan Muran with great enthusiasm.
The reply he got was Nan Muran’s swiftly moving figure as she held an Austrian special forces knife, purposefully heading straight for Brother Hao.
With a full-strength horizontal kick, she sent Brother Hao, who weighed over 180 pounds, crashing to the ground. At the same time, she thrust the special forces knife forward, aimed straight at Brother Hao’s face.
One of Brother Hao’s subordinates, reacting quickly, hurriedly stepped in to block the knife that was about to pierce Brother Hao’s throat. In the end, Nan Muran redirected her knife, leaving a deep gash on Brother Hao’s face, and then directly flipped the blade to pierce the man’s shoulder.
By the time the group reacted, Jia Wu, coming from behind, had already injured two of them, and the two of them merged together.
“Wu-ge, did I come back just in time?” Nan Muran said with a smile in her voice.
Jia Wu nodded faintly. “Hmm.”
If Nan Muran hadn’t happened to come back today, Jia Wu would never have risked leaving the villa. Facing nineteen enemies, not only were they a familiar team, but there were also several large men among them. In such a situation, his chances of winning were slim.
But now, with Nan Muran’s cooperation, the situation was very different.
“Damn bitches, brothers, go! Kill them!” Brother Hao, clutching his stinging cheek, his eyes bloodshot with intense hatred, had completely lost his earlier lecherous attitude.
Having been in the apocalypse for almost two months, this was the first time he’d suffered such a big loss.
More than a dozen people, armed with various weapons, rushed toward Nan Muran and Jia Wu.
The two immediately split up and went for the attack, with their military knives and short blades cutting through Brother Hao’s group in an extremely bizarre manner.
The sounds of painful cries began to echo across the open space in front of the villa.
These people were nothing but a ragtag group, relying on their numbers, strength, and stamina to do bad deeds in the apocalypse. They had never expected to encounter such resistance in this deep mountain forest.
After five rounds of attacks, Nan Muran and Jia Wu were unscathed.
Out of the nineteen who entered the mountains, nine were killed, and the other ten were either wounded or dead.
Jia Wu killed five, Nan Muran killed four.
“Brother Hao, we can’t beat these two,” one of the thinner men in the group, wearing glasses, timidly approached Brother Hao and whispered.
Without him saying anything, Brother Hao already knew they had no chance of beating these two. A real man knows when to bend—today, it’s better to escape first.
“Two brave warriors, today I, Chen Hao, failed to recognize your greatness, and foolishly made a reckless move. Please, I beg you, spare us. We have plenty of supplies to offer you, and we can follow your lead in the future,” Chen Hao said, cupping his hands toward Nan Muran and Jia Wu.
Ignoring his darting eyes as he lowered his head, he truly thought he was apologizing sincerely.
“Spare you? Then I’d lose face.” Nan Muran walked toward Chen Hao with a dissatisfied tone, completely like a willful little girl.
Suddenly, she raised her leg and kicked Chen Hao hard in the abdomen. As he bent over, her short knife flashed and slashed open his carotid artery.
Her attack was so sudden, and her speed so fast, that no one reacted in time.
Nan Muran then calmly stepped back to Jia Wu’s side. “Wu-ge, now we’re even.”
The group behind them watched in shock as Chen Hao lay on the ground, blood pouring from his neck.
Jia Wu hadn’t planned to spare these people, but he clearly hadn’t expected Nan Muran to kill Chen Hao so decisively.
“Run…” The man wearing glasses was the first to react.
The group turned and scattered, trying to escape.
At this moment, Tank, who had been quietly watching from the car, jumped down. He barked fiercely at the group and blocked their path.
Jia Wu and Nan Muran, both full of killing intent, pursued them. With Tank joining in, the three of them slaughtered the group mercilessly, and only stopped once all nineteen had been killed.
“We lost.” Nan Muran was somewhat dissatisfied with her performance. Out of the nineteen, she killed seven, Tank killed two, and the rest were Jia Wu’s kills.
Jia Wu was somewhat helpless. “It’s already very good.” He looked at the corpses scattered all over the ground, frowning slightly, thinking about how to handle the aftermath.
“We’ll go back to the house. Leave the rest to Xiao Liu,” Nan Muran said as she took her backpack from the car, speaking to Jia Wu.
Inside the house, Bai Mei looked at the two of them returning safely. The tension she had been feeling all day finally eased.
Nan Muran changed her shoes and asked, “Did those people just arrive in the evening?”
