The girl with the ponytail looked at Nan Muran and said, “My name is Lin Ying, thank you for saving us.
Also, about that safe base you mentioned, where exactly is it in Nanshan? We can’t use our phones, and we’re unfamiliar with the area.”
“It’s fine, we won’t trouble you. These people have a car, it’s downstairs. I can drive too.” Seeing that Nan Muran didn’t say anything, another girl quickly pointed at the bodies on the ground and explained.
For those who had the courage to save themselves, Nan Muran was willing to help: “Once you get to the mountain road ahead, keep driving east.
At the third major intersection, turn up the mountain and keep going. You’ll reach the safe zone.
Don’t leave tonight. Wait until tomorrow morning before you head out.”
“Thank you.” The two girls showed happy expressions and quickly thanked her.
Nan Muran took out some painkillers and handed them to them: “I wish you a safe journey.”
“Thank you.”
“Brother Wu, we need to move in that direction.” Nan Muran stood up, her tone slightly anxious.
The little willow on her wrist told Nan Muran that Si Ye and the others were surrounded by mutated zombies.
Xiaobai was protecting their group, but they were about to be overwhelmed.
When Si Ye and his team got close to the zombie group, they had initially planned to cooperate with the team inside to break through from the outskirts.
However, they found that all five mutated zombies were targeting the library, and the people inside had no chance of breaking out with only hot weapons.
Reluctantly, the four of them had no choice but to fight their way in to join up with the others, and then try to find a way to escape.
But they found that getting in was relatively easy, whereas once inside, the entire library had already been surrounded, making it nearly impossible to escape.
“Wild Wolf, you and the lead experts go ahead, and our team will stay behind to cover.” Liu Jun, the leader of the Sword Edge Special Forces, had blood on his face as he looked at the situation and was already thinking about his own death.
Si Ye glanced at him, his tone dissatisfied: “Stop wasting time. The only way out is to fight our way through, otherwise none of us will get out.
Eagle, Dongzi, clear the way ahead.
Hunter, make sure your people protect the flanks, and the rest of us will cover the professors. We’re all going to fight our way out.”
“Got it.” Liu Jun, codenamed Hunter, quickly arranged their team’s movements.
The group exited through the library’s back door, aiming to break through the outer zombie encirclement.
However, once outside, they found that the number of zombies gathered outside was rapidly increasing, dense and unafraid, continuing to press forward.
They had already lost count of how many zombies they had killed but were still unable to break through the siege.
“That zombie has abilities.” Chen Dong was startled by the ice blade that flew toward them from a distance. How could even zombies have abilities?
“Captain, we can’t get out.” Eagle looked at the seemingly endless zombie group ahead, his head pounding.
Dongzi felt that his speed ability was already exhausted.
“Wild Wolf, let’s fall back.” Liu Jun moved closer to Si Ye.
Si Ye looked coldly at the three mutated zombies nearby, their movements notably agile: “Do you think we can retreat?”
As he spoke, the three mutated zombies attacked them simultaneously, with ice blades, wind forces, and vines almost simultaneously launching toward their position.
Everyone saw the incoming attacks and began to shoot back, but they were still unable to avoid them.
In the moment when everyone was about to be injured, a white-green vine shot out from Si Ye’s right hand, quickly growing to the size of a thick arm. It wrapped around the group, forming a circle and continuously spinning until it became a circular vine wall, shielding everyone inside.
It blocked all the attacks from the mutated zombies.
“Xiaobai.” Si Ye looked at the white flowers on the vine in disbelief.
“It’s Nan Jie.” Chen Dong and the others breathed a sigh of relief; the vine was very familiar to them.
The twelve members of the Sword Edge Special Forces stared at the strange vine in front of them, too shocked to speak.
“Dongzi, what is this?” One of the team members, who was somewhat familiar with Chen Dong, asked in astonishment.
Chen Dong let out a long breath but smirked and said, “I’m not telling you what’s going on, but we’re definitely saved today.”
The professors behind them were even more curious about Xiaobai: “What kind of vine is this, do you recognize it?”
“It looks like a wire vine.” A professor tried to approach Xiaobai to observe it closely but was startled by the zombies trying to break through.
“Wild Wolf, what’s going on?” Liu Jun, codenamed Hunter, looked around at the tightly woven vine wall protecting the group and was equally curious.
Si Ye didn’t respond but kept his gaze fixed on something ahead.
Liu Jun, seeing him in a daze, followed his gaze and looked ahead.
They saw a beautiful girl in camouflage, with two braids, fighting her way through the dense zombie crowd.
Around her, numerous willow branches glowing with an eerie green light circled. Wherever she went, the branches seemed to have a mind of their own, attacking the zombies’ heads.
The thick, disgusting zombie brain matter exploded in the air.
The girl fought her way toward the three mutated zombies that had attacked them earlier.
Then, somehow, almost instantaneously, the three mutated zombies’ heads exploded.
Behind her, the willow branches quickly collected the crystals that had burst from the zombies.
At the same time, Jia Wu had already reached the other mutated zombies. There was no suspense in the battle between a second-level mutated zombie and a second-level early-stage ability user.
After Jia Wu finished his side, Nan Muran had already dealt with a spiritual type mutated zombie on the other side.
The two of them reunited and immediately approached Si Ye and the others, who were being protected by Xiaobai.
“Nan Jie, you’re here!” Chen Dong looked at Nan Muran entering Xiaobai’s protective circle, his excitement palpable.
Nan Muran didn’t speak but directly looked at Si Ye: “Do you still have strength?”
“No problem, just say it.”
“I’ll stop the zombies along the way, and you guys go ahead and shoot them in the head. Don’t use guns.”
“Got it.” Si Ye responded and immediately began coordinating with Liu Jun.
Once prepared, Xiaobai and Xiao Liu began to alternate, carving a safe circle around the zombies.
Nan Muran quickly controlled the zombies in the circle with her mental abilities, making them freeze in place. Si Ye and the others immediately shot them in the head.
After ten consecutive shots, Xiao Liu and Xiaobai led the group to the outermost edge of the zombie encirclement.
While they were fighting on the mountainside, a man with binoculars on a nearby hillside was intently watching Nan Muran, who was at the front of the group.
“Is this girl from Chen Jianguo’s team?”
“If Chen Jianguo had someone like her, we’d know about it.” An elderly man, about sixty years old, leaning on a cane, looked at Nan Muran with great interest.
“Quickly contact Dr. Jin, think of a special method to bring her back.” The man with the binoculars spoke with a deep, serious look.
The old man smiled and said, “This girl will always be under our watch. No need to rush, take your time.”
