Chapter 103 – Unified Distribution on the 13th Floor
Since he had already said that, who would be willing to step down early?
The first part was manageable, but the latter half was genuinely tough—everyone’s legs were trembling.
By comparison, Jiang Xingzhi held up pretty well, not even flushed or breathless.
Zhang Kaiyang couldn’t help but give him a big thumbs-up, and Jiang Yuan also thought her dad was impressive.
“Alright, time’s up. Take a break and massage your calves…”
Song Yi didn’t let anyone sit down but had everyone perform muscle relaxation exercises.
She remembered their PE teacher used to do the same in school.
“Zhang Kaiyang, come help me move the equipment out.”
“Okay!”
The two went inside to move things. Jiang Yuan went over to check on her daughter. Xiao Nuan and Xiaobudian (Little Spot) were sitting together.
They had become familiar by now. Xiaobudian was gentle and didn’t bully Xiao Nuan.
Knowing the dog was well-trained, she wasn’t worried anymore, though she couldn’t help glancing over occasionally.
The equipment Song Yi brought out was a bit unusual—things she hadn’t seen before.
Ten minutes later, everyone stood in a row, watching Song Yi demonstrate in front.
The first piece was a bouncing ball machine. After switching it on, balls would shoot out from different directions.
“All you need to do is use this paddle to hit the balls back. This helps train your reaction time and precision.”
The balls had springs. Once hit, they would automatically bounce back. If you missed, they’d fall.
“There are also different speed settings. We’ll start with the lowest. Once you’re used to it, we can speed it up.”
As he spoke, Song Yi gave a demonstration.
His precise strikes were immediately impressive.
This guy probably wasn’t just an ordinary soldier—he seemed more like a special forces operative.
That’s how it is in TV dramas, right? Way better trained than regular soldiers, using different kinds of drills altogether.
Zhang Kaiyang eagerly rolled up his sleeves—he wanted to try first.
“We don’t have a lot of gear right now, so I’ll think of more ideas later. For now, everyone pay attention.
I’m going to teach you a few self-defense moves that could save your life in a crisis. Follow me and then partner up to practice.”
He then pulled Zhang Kaiyang over as a demo partner.
These were close-combat techniques, just three moves in total.
“That’s it? Song-ge, don’t you have something more advanced and epic?”
Clearly, he was chasing his martial arts hero dreams.
“These three are for survival. They may look simple, but they’ve been refined through real combat experience.
Practice them until they become muscle memory.”
Song Yi emphasized this repeatedly. The rest didn’t dare take it lightly anymore.
She partnered with Ye Mianmian. Her parents paired up too, and everyone began practicing.
Xiao Nuan thought it looked fun and watched closely but didn’t join in.
Xiaobudian sat beside her like a loyal buddy—it was an adorable scene.
Training wrapped up around 11 a.m.
Everyone was drenched in sweat and full of adrenaline.
“This afternoon, keep training at home. The machine will stay in the corridor—come use it if you want.
Tomorrow morning, I’ll check your progress.”
Spending only two hours a day together was a good balance.
If they were around each other all day, it might become inconvenient.
Back home, everyone wiped down and changed clothes.
Otherwise, being all damp and sticky was uncomfortable.
Xiao Nuan had a hot water bottle. She hadn’t exercised much but was still warm.
Jiang Yuan came out to help Qin Yue with lunch.
“Whoa, Mom—duck necks?!”
“Yeah, I had some frozen in the fridge, took them out for you.”
Truthfully, Qin Yue never understood her daughter’s love for these spicy snacks with barely any meat.
Jiang Yuan watched her mom place the duck necks and duck bones into a dish and steam them.
Probably the quickest way to defrost them. She also added a plate of braised chicken she’d made earlier.
“There’s still a bunch of veggies left from yesterday’s hotpot. Let’s make a spicy stir-fry tonight, and just sauté mushrooms and greens for lunch.”
“Sounds good.”
Balanced meals—tasty and nutritious.
The whole family sat down happily for lunch. Even if the workout was only two hours, it had burned a lot of energy.
So, the food tasted extra satisfying.
Mom even made honeysuckle tea and added two heaping spoons of honey.
“Drink some, everyone. It’s cold, easy to get overheated.”
“Okay! Oh right, Mom, let’s all nap afterward and then get in a bit more practice. I think it’s pretty useful.”
“Sure, no problem.”
All three of them were open to learning life-saving skills—who knew when they might come in handy?
After cleaning up, they all went for a nap. Jiang Yuan coaxed her daughter to sleep, then lay down herself.
The storage space still hadn’t been tidied, but that could wait until the evening.
Unexpectedly, just a few minutes after lying down, the doorbell rang.
“Song Yi? What’s up?”
He motioned toward the stairwell. Jiang Yuan quickly followed.
Someone was knocking—it wasn’t Ye Mianmian or Zhang Kaiyang.
The two exchanged a look but decided to open the inner door.
Five people had come, led by none other than Sun Yian.
“What do you want?”
She asked bluntly. Whenever this guy smiled like that, it meant trouble.
“Jiang Yuan, Song Yi—great, you’re both here. We’ve come to discuss a plan for everyone to get through this tough time together.”
“Get to the point.”
She didn’t have time for his nonsense and just wanted to know what he was selling this time.
Sun Yian hesitated for a moment but quickly returned to his smiley expression.
“Here’s the thing—we’re organizing all the residents to pool our resources and distribute them equally.
This way, everyone has food and shelter.
You’re part of Building 13 too, so you should join us. Also, we’ll be providing security for everyone.”
Jiang Yuan remained calm. This guy clearly had a plan.
Didn’t he suggest this before? Who knew how many families he had already recruited.
“How many have agreed?”
“Eighty percent or more are on board…”
He sounded pretty proud of that.
“We’re not joining. Lawyer Sun, you go do your thing. See yourself out.”
With that, she shut the door.
Sun Yian still wanted to persuade them, but his voice was muffled by the closed door.
“Wait! You two, just think about it again.
Even if you’re capable, strength lies in numbers!”
…
Jiang Yuan glanced at Song Yi. He gestured for her to come over and talk, so she followed him to apartment 2102.
This was her first time sitting alone face-to-face with Song Yi, and she couldn’t help feeling a little awkward.
