Chapter 104 – Revenge from Apartment 1501
Song Yi poured her a cup of water — a disposable paper cup.
Jiang Yuan took it, thanked him, and got straight to the point.
“I think they’re doing this on purpose. Taking advantage of the unstable situation to form cliques. Who knows what kind of chaos they’re planning.”
What happened at Ye Mianmian’s home was still fresh in her memory.
“Exactly. We can’t let our guard down.
Those who have supplies probably don’t want to join them.
The ones he managed to recruit are likely those without food or a place to stay.”
Jiang Yuan nodded — his thoughts matched hers.
“Then there’s even less reason for us to get involved with them.”
In other words, they had enough food and drink — why not just enjoy their peaceful life?
“Yeah, but that group likely won’t let this go.
Us rejecting them so openly will make them suspicious.
And that Sun Yian is particularly good at sowing discord.”
Jiang Yuan looked up and met Song Yi’s gaze. “You noticed it too? That he’s a troublemaker?”
Pfft—
Song Yi actually laughed. This was better than always seeing him with a stern face.
“What are you laughing at?”
“Nothing, just thinking… he clearly has leadership skills, but you called him that.
What does that make the people following him?”
Well, what else? Troublemakers follow troublemakers.
“It’s just a figure of speech…”
She replied awkwardly, not thinking it was a big deal.
“With his appearance and gentle demeanor, you’d think he’d be popular with women.”
“Maybe, but it has nothing to do with me.”
Jiang Yuan didn’t want to keep talking about this. Song Yi was being a bit weird.
“Oh, by the way, they might try to go downstairs to rope in others. Should we warn them?”
“No need. 2002 has plenty of supplies — more than enough for their small group.
Zhang Kaiyang and Ye Mianmian aren’t stupid. They won’t agree.”
“Alright then.”
Since there wasn’t anything urgent, she left.
They were on the same page — no way would they cooperate with Sun Yian.
That afternoon, the three of them did some practice together.
Qin Yue felt it was less intense than square dancing and wanted to go back inside. Jiang Yuan let her.
No need to rush — square dancing was still exercise.
As long as her mom’s immune system improved, that was good enough.
She also let Xiao Nuan walk a bit on the treadmill. The little girl was very cooperative.
“Mommy, can I go next door to see the puppy?”
“Be good, Xiao Nuan. Uncle is resting. It’s not convenient to visit now.
Tomorrow morning, when we go out together, the puppy will be there too.”
“Really?”
The little one looked very serious. She’d been cooped up for so long and was clearly getting bored.
“Of course. Mommy promises.”
“Then don’t forget to wake me up in the morning.”
“Okay!”
With the promise sealed, Xiao Nuan was happy again. Jiang Yuan gave her a tablet to watch cartoons.
Qin Yue finished her dancing and got ready to cook.
Jiang Yuan took advantage of a bathroom break to sneak into her space.
There was so much to organize — starting with the clothes.
She brought out a lot of standing clothes racks and lined them along the walls, filling them to the brim with not a single gap left.
There were tons of clothes, including many thick ones. She sorted them for easier access later.
There were also lots of undergarments — those were better stored in boxes instead of wasting rack space.
She placed storage bins beneath the shorter garments, using every inch of space.
Some items were still packaged — bundled in groups. She tucked them underneath as well.
After about half an hour of work, she came out.
Xiao Nuan was still watching TV on the bed, and the spicy stir-fry pot her mom made was ready.
She felt like they were eating more frequently these days — but you can’t skip meals, especially with a growing child.
But someone always has to come along and ruin things.
Just when she was halfway through her meal, wailing sounds came from outside.
Looking through the surveillance monitor, she saw it was the old woman from the 15th floor, sitting in the hallway making a huge scene.
She was wailing and moaning like someone had died — just like the mourning rituals back in the village.
“Sweetheart, I’ll go check it out,” her dad offered.
“No need, Dad. Let her shout. Let’s eat.”
Their place had soundproofing. Only when someone appeared in the hallway would the camera detect movement and turn on the screen.
Jiang Yuan muted the feed, picked up her bowl, and watched it like a movie.
She wanted to see what new tricks the old lady had up her sleeve.
Sure enough, after a while of sobbing with no response, she cursed and left.
A one-woman act with no audience.
The Jiang family wasn’t affected at all — they just kept eating.
Her mom even brought out two big apples for dessert.
There was still plenty of work to do inside her space — not just organizing supplies.
The vegetables she had planted were doing really well. Peppers, eggplants, zucchinis — all were flowering.
She was now sure that the plants grew faster in her space than outside.
Seeing her vegetables growing wildly, she couldn’t just leave them be.
There were plenty of potted plants she had collected — mostly dried bamboo and similar things.
Though dry, they could still be useful.
She selected some, trimmed off the branches, and stuck them beside the vegetable plants.
Not too close — about 5 cm apart.
Then she tied the plants to the bamboo poles so they could grow upward.
Beans, cucumbers, and tomatoes needed support.
Eggplants, bell peppers, chili peppers, and zucchinis didn’t need it.
When she finished everything, it was already getting late. Time to rest.
She slept well.
The next morning, Xiao Nuan woke up early.
She went out to unlock the hallway door for Zhang Kaiyang and Ye Mianmian.
What she didn’t expect was the entire hallway had been vandalized.
Red liquid — smelled like paint — was splashed everywhere.
And right across from them, two huge characters on the wall: “Bitch.”
There was feces on the stairwell, and some unknown liquid was dripping down the stairs.
Her blood pressure shot up to 180. This was like a toad on your foot — doesn’t bite, just disgusts you!
“Oh my god, who did this? This is too much!”
Zhang Kaiyang and Ye Mianmian arrived and were also stunned by the scene.
“I know who did it. Come in first!”
