Apocalypse Prepper Gone Lazy Chapter 110

Chapter 110: The Rain Has Stopped

At a time like this, tackling things one by one had a higher chance of success—and it was safer too.

Back home, she quickly went to sleep. The night had become increasingly cold.

Tonight, she decided to be lazy and not enter the space.

She could take her time organizing things. If possible, she might even bring her parents into the space. With everyone working together, things would move faster.

But how should she tell them?

It was such an unbelievable thing, and the future was still uncertain.

If danger struck, the more they knew, the more terrifying it could be.

She remembered that in her past life, many strange and twisted things had happened during the extreme cold.

By then, humans had already realized the world likely wouldn’t recover.

They had lasted so long that they had truly reached the point of being out of ammunition and food.

The ugliness and darkness of human nature had surfaced all at once—looking up was heaven, but looking down was hell.

Judging by the timing, it should be around these few days.

However, the rain this time seemed to be lasting longer than before.

Also, the wind hadn’t been this strong in her previous life either.

It was almost the lunar new year now, but she truly couldn’t remember the exact time it had all started before.

She drifted off to sleep in a daze, but the night passed peacefully.

The next morning, Qin Yue came over to wake her and Xiao Nuan.

They hadn’t trained yesterday, so they had to make up for it today.

With a “three days of work, two days of rest” kind of approach, they would never build real physical strength.

“Sweetie, get up! I think the rain is about to stop.”

Jiang Yuan was excited. She quickly threw on some clothes and ran to the window.

The light drizzle really did look like it was about to end.

The wind had calmed, and the rain was falling gently at an angle—it almost felt like a spring shower.

However, the temperature remained bone-chilling, even though it was already daylight.

“Mom, I think it’s really about to stop. Probably within the next couple of days.”

“What do you mean a couple of days? I bet it’ll stop today.

Now hurry up and get ready. We’re having breakfast.”

“Okay!”

Qin Yue made millet porridge with sugar buns and a few small pickled veggies. The family ate warmly and contentedly.

It was still early, and Jiang Yuan didn’t want to just sit around. She decided to go out into the stairwell to check things out.

Unexpectedly, Song Yi was there too.

“Morning!”

“Morning.”

He responded calmly. He’d opened a crack in the window, and the cold air drifted in with a chill.

“Jiang Yuan, the rain is going to stop.”

His voice was cool and emotionless.

“Yeah, it’s going to stop. A new chapter is about to begin.”

She sighed. So many things were already different between this life and the last.

The extreme heat had been hotter, and the storm had lasted longer.

And the typhoon—there hadn’t even been such a thing in her previous life.

Everything now felt more intense. So if that’s true… would the extreme cold also be worse?

Just thinking about it made her shiver. Humans instinctively fear anything that could cause them harm.

“Brother Song, Sister Yuan, you’re up early…”

“We just got here. Mianmian, how’s your grandma doing? Any more fever today?”

“No more fever. It came and went yesterday, but today she’s fine. Her color looks much better, and she even said she wants to cook lunch for us.”

“That’s good.”

Jiang Yuan nodded with relief. Granny Ye meant something special to her—she truly hoped she would be okay.

“Brother Song, look! The wind’s stopped! The rain should be next, right?”

Zhang Kaiyang was overjoyed. This torturous weather had been unbearable.

“Yeah, almost. Alright, let’s start training.”

With that, Song Yi signaled for everyone to begin.

It was similar to the day before, except that Jiang Yuan joined in to practice hitting targets.

Zhang Kaiyang and Ye Mianmian chatted happily nearby. The atmosphere was cheerful—and not just among them. The whole building was like that.

The end of the rain meant the beginning of a new life. It brought back people’s long-lost hopes and dreams.

By the time they finished at 11 a.m., Jiang Yuan asked everyone to wait.

She went back home and brought out the walkie-talkies she had recently found—one for each of them.

“Take these. I found them by chance. Hopefully they’ll come in handy.”

Zhang Kaiyang nearly dropped his jaw in shock. He was amazed.

“No way, Sister Yuan, why didn’t you find these earlier?!

I was scared someone might sneak in one night and wipe us out without me being able to warn you or Brother Song.

I’ve barely dared to sleep deeply lately. You should’ve brought these out sooner!”

He was practically crying tears of joy. But Jiang Yuan couldn’t help it—she had only just found them while looking for clothes the day before.

“Well, I only found them yesterday while sorting clothes. Luckily, they still had power. Now you can finally sleep soundly.”

Her tone was playful, and the general mood was light-hearted.

Ye Mianmian was also thrilled. Communication would be so much easier now.

“Sister Yuan, you’re the best! Now I really feel at ease.”

Song Yi simply stared at the walkie-talkie in silence.

“There probably isn’t much battery left, so let’s use them sparingly.”

Saying too much was pointless—what mattered was clear, useful instructions.

They all lived close by, so using the walkie-talkies would be no problem at all.

That afternoon was for free practice, with everyone staying in their own homes. Jiang Yuan didn’t feel like going into the space.

She only had so much time in there anyway, and she also had to plant vegetables and organize supplies—no need to rush it all at once.

There was plenty of space, but she still had to water the vegetables. Whether they could eat later depended on them growing well now.

And sure enough, the rain stopped that afternoon.

To be exact, it stopped around 1 p.m.

Jiang Yuan had a strange feeling in her heart. After such a long rainfall, it had just… stopped.

Whether the road ahead led to heaven or hell—who could say?

But others weren’t thinking so cautiously.

Cheers rang out. Someone even burst into song.

Jiang Xingming wanted to open the window wider to see what was going on, but Jiang Yuan stopped him.

“Let’s be careful. Look, the water level is still so high. We’re not even near the sea—who knows when this will clear?

Revealing our location is definitely not a wise move.”

“She’s right. We’ve held out this long—we can’t mess it up now. Let’s stay vigilant.”

“Okay. You’re right.”

The three of them reached a consensus, shut all the windows tight, and pulled the curtains closed.

That afternoon, many people went out.

Just from Building 13 alone, she counted seven or eight groups.

She even saw Sun Yian and the others with their boat—a tourist sightseeing boat, very eye-catching.

Her parents continued their afternoon workouts. Life had to go on—chores still needed doing.

Jiang Yuan felt exhausted. She’d been physically and mentally drained over the past few days.

She was just about to lie down for a nap when Zhang Kaiyang’s voice came through the walkie-talkie.
