No one objected—so they left the kayak on the 18th floor. Song Yi found a place to hide it.
“We don’t know if there’s anyone else in this building. Everyone, stay sharp.”
“Mm!”
As soon as he said that, everyone got serious.
Song Yi led the group at the front, followed by Jiang Yuan and Ye Mianmian, with Zhang Kaiyang bringing up the rear.
There were two companies on the 17th floor—both relatively large.
Ye Mianmian had already mentioned that both were e-commerce businesses: one selling snacks, the other children’s clothing.
The snack company took up more space—it was their main target this trip.
Once they reached the 17th floor, they switched to using hand signals only. Zhang Kaiyang opened the door, Song Yi entered, and they checked every corner.
Once they confirmed there were no threats, they all relaxed a bit.
“Let’s check the neighboring unit too—better safe than sorry.”
“Mm.”
The locks were ordinary, so Zhang Kaiyang easily opened them.
The children’s clothing company wasn’t very big—only about 200 square meters, with just one livestream room.
Once they confirmed no one was inside, the four of them finally felt at ease.
“Let’s head next door and start gathering food. Pile everything in the lobby. If there are boxes, use them. If not, use the woven bags.
We’ll first take stock of how much there is, then figure out how to deal with it.”
“Sounds good. I suggest we split up—each person takes a section. That way we save time.”
“Agreed!”
Quickly, they split the office into four directions—east, west, south, north, centered around the lobby.
Jiang Yuan took the east, where several offices were located.
Since her storage space only worked with objects made of “wood,” she could only focus on these rooms—the composite desks didn’t qualify.
“Let’s go! Time to unbox the loot!”
Zhang Kaiyang cheered and rushed off enthusiastically. Song Yi locked the door before following.
Jiang Yuan went into an office that looked like a conference room. There was a display shelf filled with snacks—most likely samples.
Self-heating hotpot, instant rice, spicy chips, milk tea, dried mangoes…
All the popular snacks from online were here.
Even if they were just samples, the wall-sized shelf held quite a bit.
She pulled out one of the woven bags they had swiped from the supermarket last time and started stuffing it full.
The display was well organized—only one of each kind per flavor, sometimes two of the same kind.
She was thrilled. If the conference room was this loaded, what would the livestream room and storage room be like? They’d be packed!
Ten minutes later, she had filled six woven bags.
Jiang Yuan started hauling them to the main lobby, where she ran into Zhang Kaiyang.
He grinned wide, showing off his white teeth. “Yuan-jie, not bad, huh!”
“You bet. One conference room, six full bags. How about you?”
“Feeling good! That was the livestream room—got some nice stuff. Even found a bunch of hairy crabs, but they’re all spoiled now. Such a shame.”
Yeah, quite a shame. Didn’t those people know to refrigerate them?
“Alright, let’s keep going.”
The two bumped into each other while hauling their bags out. Jiang Yuan moved all six bags into the main lobby.
The conference room only had a massive table and chairs left, along with a projector and media equipment.
None of it was made of wood, so her storage ability couldn’t use it.
She moved on to the next office. The label on the door said “HR Department.”
There were six workstations inside—this seemed to be an important department in the company, and the working environment looked quite nice.
As soon as she entered, Jiang Yuan closed the door, but didn’t lock it—just in case.
Instead, she picked up a small cardboard box near the door and set it in front. If anyone pushed the door open, it would hit the box and alert her without raising suspicion—after all, some messiness was expected when scavenging.
There was a money tree plant by the window. It hadn’t been watered for a long time—most of its leaves were dead or yellow.
It might be a rare species soon, so she took it.
The pot was also nice—even if the plant died, she could use it to grow flowers.
Across the room was a filing cabinet, with the key still in the lock.
Inside were two rows of folders, along with unopened notebooks and pens.
Her daughter Xiao Nuan would need school supplies in the future—these were worth hoarding.
There were also printer cartridges, color highlighters, and sticky notes.
All office supplies—she took them all.
Next to one workstation, she found boxes of A4 paper—about five full boxes, with four open reams stacked on top.
She pulled out an empty formula box from her storage space and started packing everything in.
Loose items would be a pain to deal with at home—she wanted to be efficient.
She didn’t leave the A4 paper behind either—everything was packed up.
They had come mainly for food, but anything useful they found, they could take as well.
That was an unspoken rule among them—take what you like if it fits.
She started from the window-side workstation—clearly used by a young woman. The keyboard was a cute Doraemon one. On the desk: a diffuser, a cup, two decorative crystal balls, and half a box of tissues.
Aside from the tissues, nothing useful—so she opened the drawer and cabinet.
Inside the drawer: a half-used notebook, a makeup bag.
The makeup bag contained a lipstick, powder compact, some skincare samples, and hand cream.
Not interesting—her space was meant for more valuable supplies.
The cabinet held a change of clothes and high heels—likely for commuting.
The next desk was cleaner—just a cup and a calendar.
The drawer had half a box of coffee, a few sticky notes, and some printed files.
She took the coffee and sticky notes. The rest—meh.
The other desks were similar, but she did find three express packages.
She grabbed scissors and opened them—one had a phone case, the others held a purse and a bag of green tea.
Not bad—not a wasted trip. She packed everything neatly and moved on to the next office.
When she opened the door, she was blinded by the sheer luxury.
This room was way too fancy.
So it was true—influencers really do make money.
This office had to belong to a boss, or at the very least a general manager.
And that nearly two-meter-long rosewood desk made her heart race with excitement.
Still, she reminded herself to act ethically—clean up before looting.
First up: a desktop computer, a keyboard, and a laptop—a well-known brand.
She hesitated—what if the laptop had GPS tracking? That would be trouble.
Better not risk it—she left it on the floor. There was also a tea mug on the desk.
