Apocalypse Prepper Gone Lazy Chapter 52

Chapter 52 – Personally Executing the Scumbag Couple from the 20th Floor

“It really wasn’t me! I swear, it wasn’t me! Please, I’m begging you—just let me go!”

Jiang Yuan responded with a powerful kick—she didn’t hold back in the slightest. She had already endured this woman for far too long.

Since they didn’t want to coexist peacefully, they would have to pay the price.

Song Yi saw her like that and knew she was already in a killing frenzy—but he still worried she might show mercy in the end.

“A centipede dies but never falls stiff.”

Jiang Yuan glanced sideways at him, her expression meaningful and cold.

Then she raised her Tang saber.

The compass lady’s eyes widened in disbelief.

She didn’t even get a chance to scream before the blade fell.

Murder! They’re killing someone—!

People coming up from below witnessed the scene and were instantly scared out of their wits.

They had grown up in a law-abiding society. When had they ever seen such a bloody, brutal scene?

Song Yi, without a word, efficiently dragged the scar-faced man’s corpse down the stairs, leaving a long trail of blood behind.

Jiang Yuan immediately understood what he meant and grabbed the compass woman’s body to follow him.

As they passed Zhang Kaiyang and Ye Mianmian, Song Yi said softly, “This has nothing to do with you two—just go home.”

To be honest, the two of them were completely stunned.

Ye Mianmian, in particular, was trembling.

After saying his piece, Song Yi didn’t look at them again. They were just temporary allies—no one owed anyone anything.

At the 20th floor, he used one hand to drag the scar-faced man by the collar, and the other to open the hallway window.

Just then, another hand reached out to help.

He turned to see Zhang Kaiyang’s ingratiating smile.

The window was opened, and without hesitation, Song Yi tossed the scar-faced man out.

Turning back, he saw Ye Mianmian helping Jiang Yuan drag the compass woman’s body over as well.

This was their way of showing where they stood.

Both corpses were thrown out. As if nothing had happened.

“Brother Song, Sister Yuan—I saw everything just now. They were the ones who crossed the line first. You two were just defending yourselves,” Ye Mianmian said.

“From now on, we’re in this together—live or die as one.”

Ye Mianmian had a longer-term view. She didn’t bother with blame or judgment.

“Let’s go move the rest of the supplies first.”

Neither Song Yi nor Jiang Yuan wanted to speak much. After what they’d just experienced, even Jiang Yuan felt shaken.

“Yuan’er!”

“Dad? What are you doing out here?”

“It’s fine. I’ll go with you.”

The stairwell was covered in blood, and with home surveillance cameras, Jiang Xingzhi obviously saw everything.

Jiang Yuan didn’t know what to say. How was she supposed to explain something like this?

“Let’s go.”

Her father remained calm. He patted her shoulder, and with his help, the pace quickened.

On their last trip up, her mother was already at the door, helping carry things inside.

To save time, Song Yi had left their front door open.

First they brought up Jiang Yuan’s supplies, then Song Yi’s.

Everyone just piled their stuff in the living room. Even Little Dot came out to stand guard. When she smelled the blood wafting from the stairwell, she ran over curiously.

By the time it was all done, it was already 2:30 p.m.

Qin Yue had made dumplings and served each of them a plate.

The other three didn’t feel right staying—they all had supplies to sort and organize back home.

Plus, they were utterly exhausted.

Qin Yue understood. Song Yi brought his dumplings—plate and all—back into his room.

The other two used clean plastic bags to carry theirs home.

Zhang Kaiyang and Ye Mianmian were going the same way, so he could escort her home. Everyone felt more at ease that way.

Still, they were asked to report in the group chat once they arrived safely.

Jiang Yuan was utterly drained—when they were dealing with those two from downstairs, she was already at her limit.

Now that she was finally home, she scarfed down some food, drank lots of hot water, then went to take a shower and crash.

Little Dot was unusually quiet, watching her mother from the side.

Jiang Yuan quickly washed away the blood and exhaustion, then headed for bed.

Little Dot stood at the edge of the bed, looking hesitant.

“What is it, sweetheart?” Jiang Yuan asked.

“Mama, I want to sleep with you.”

“Of course, baby. Come sleep with mama. Did you skip your nap today?”

The little girl nodded, then pouted, “Grandma said you were really tired and told me not to bother you.”

Seeing her daughter’s pitiful face, Jiang Yuan’s heart ached.

She scooped her up and carried her into bed.

“It’s okay. Having you with me makes mama very happy.”

Little Dot hugged her neck tightly and kissed her cheek. Mother and daughter shared a warm, quiet moment.

Jiang Yuan picked up her phone and plugged it into a power bank.

The group chat was flooded with messages. Someone had secretly filmed their confrontation with the two scumbags and posted the video in the building’s main chat group.

Some people even came up to see what happened after watching the video.

What greeted them was nothing but a blood-soaked staircase.

Their four-person private group chat was also buzzing:

Zhang Kaiyang:
“Look at this! Who the hell posted that video to the main group?! So messed up!”

Ye Mianmian:
“Whatever. It’s not like the police can come now anyway. Let’s just focus on staying safe.”

Song Yi:
“You two be extra careful during your rest. A lot of people now know you have supplies—you might be targeted.”

Zhang Kaiyang:
“Damn, now that I think about it… that’s terrifying.”

Ye Mianmian:
“You’re making me nervous just saying that…”

Jiang Yuan:
“Better safe than sorry. Hopefully nothing happens…”

Song Yi:
“Save your battery. We need to stay connected…”

Jiang Yuan:
“Right—rest up. Conserve your strength. That’s how we survive…”

After that, everyone went quiet. They really were too exhausted to keep talking.

This many hours of intense effort was draining—none of them were fitness fanatics to begin with.

Jiang Yuan and Song Yi had reinforced doors, which gave them a better chance at defending themselves. Like earlier—if Jiang Xingzhi hadn’t opened the door, those two from the 21st floor would’ve died trying to break in.

But Zhang Kaiyang and Ye Mianmian weren’t so lucky.

They both had standard doors. Zhang Kaiyang lived alone, and while Ye Mianmian had a grandmother at home, she probably couldn’t help in a crisis—more likely, she’d panic.

Forget it. Time to rest.

Her eyelids were already drooping. Still, Jiang Yuan set a timer to wake herself up every hour, just in case something happened.

She needed to stay aware of group chat messages, or she wouldn’t feel at ease.

Even in the apocalypse, you didn’t need to be a saint. But compared to going it alone, having a few reliable teammates wasn’t so bad.

Especially these two—though their combat skills were average, they seemed like decent people.

At least for now.

Less than two minutes later, Jiang Yuan was asleep. She was simply too tired.

Little Dot snuggled in her arms, feeling content, and quickly drifted off too.

When Qin Yue came in and saw them both sleeping, she didn’t say a word. She gently closed the door behind her.

Her daughter… how much had she suffered out there?

No time for tears. There were still supplies to sort through—supplies her daughter had risked her life to bring back.

And just like that, everything seemed to settle… like dust returning to the earth.

BOOM—CRASH!

“AH!”

Jiang Yuan was jolted awake by the sudden loud noise.

What just broke? It sounded massive…
