Apocalypse Prepper Gone Lazy Chapter 53

Chapter 53: Zhang Kaiyang’s Home is Surrounded

Regardless of the cold weather, she quickly got up to see what had happened.

The surroundings were still shrouded in fog—nothing could be seen clearly—but the noise from earlier definitely hadn’t been imagined.

Jiang Yuan hurried back under the covers. Xiao Nuan shivered slightly, as if she had felt the chill from outside.

There should be some news online. She opened WeChat—someone had asked about it in the group, but no one was discussing it.

At this point, very few people still had battery on their phones, and no one really knew what was going on.

Jiang Yuan checked the private group, but it was silent too. Everyone was probably still sleeping.

It was only 5:30 a.m. She had slept for three hours, which helped her recover a bit.

She tried to go back to sleep, but couldn’t. Her mind was too unsettled—an old habit.

Unwilling to give up, Jiang Yuan began searching the web frantically.

But there was no useful information, and certainly nothing recent.

Unlike before, when any incident would be quickly shared online, now everyone was stuck at home. People nearby might still know something, but anything further away was completely cut off.

It felt like things had regressed to a more primitive time. The worst part was that the internet was becoming unstable—cutting in and out.

She’d enter a search term, and it would take ages to load.

Once the internet collapses, panic is sure to follow.

Modern people may be used to living alone—but absolutely not to living without the internet.

Jiang Yuan sighed, turned off her phone, and forced herself to try sleeping again.

After working nonstop for so long, her whole body ached—it was unbearable.

Ding~

A message came in. She couldn’t help but check.

Zhang Kaiyang: “Help! They’re trying to pry open my door…”

Jiang Yuan jolted upright in bed.

Given the laggy connection, that message likely wasn’t just sent—it was probably 3 to 5 minutes old already.

No time to waste—she quickly got dressed and went to check.

It was likely those people didn’t get what they wanted from Sun Yian, so they were turning their sights back on their group.

Zhang Kaiyang was just the first—others would follow.

She couldn’t sit idly by. This was also about protecting her own family.

She geared up and grabbed her weapon.

As she stepped into the living room, Qin Yue was startled.

“What’s wrong, sweetheart?”

Jiang Yuan was changing her shoes while answering, “The guy on the 9th floor is in trouble. They’re coming for us—I need to go check it out.”

Qin Yue immediately grew anxious.

“No way, let your dad check. You stay home.”

“Mom, if something happens on the 9th floor, who do you think they’ll target next?

If we all hide and no one steps up, they’ll only become more arrogant.”

Qin Yue just didn’t want her daughter to be hurt, but hearing that made her panic too.

“Wait, I’ll get your dad. We’ll go together!”

“No, Mom. Stay home. Don’t let Dad go either. Just take care of Xiao Nuan—and whatever you do, don’t open the door.

As long as the door stays shut, they’d be safe…

Jiang Yuan didn’t waste more time—the situation was urgent.

Just as she stepped out, she ran into Song Yi, who was opening the stairwell door. Little Spot stood proudly by his side…

They exchanged a quick smile and headed down toward the 9th floor.

On the 16th floor, they ran into Ye Mianmian, bundled up tightly. When she saw them, it was as if she’d seen her saviors.

“Brother Song, Sister Yuan! Hurry! Help Zhang Kaiyang!”

“Don’t be afraid. Let’s go check things out…”

Jiang Yuan pulled Ye Mianmian along—this girl was visibly shaken and trembling.

“I peeked earlier. I think there are 7 or 8 of them. It’s getting louder, and more people are gathering at the door.

I got scared and came to find you.”

Ye Mianmian had just gotten up to use the restroom when she saw the message on her phone and panicked.

“Mianmian, you did the right thing. In a situation where the other side has numbers, preserving yourself and avoiding unnecessary losses is the smart move.”

As they spoke, they reached the 9th floor.

There were at least a dozen people in the hallway—and probably more coming.

“Woof! Woof!”

Little Spot charged into the crowd first.

The door to apartment 0902 was already teetering—on the verge of breaking down.

Two men beside it were wielding sledgehammers. The sudden appearance of a big dog and three armed people left them stunned.

The video of the two murders on the 21st floor was still circulating in the group chat. Now here these people were, armed and with deadly expressions—everyone hesitated.

Jiang Yuan’s sharp eyes quickly spotted Sun Yian in the back. He was still dressed neatly—clearly hadn’t suffered much.

The two sledgehammer-wielding men looked irritated and sweaty, clothes half off from exertion.

“Well, look who’s here. What, want a share of the loot too?”

Song Yi stood silently at the front.

Jiang Yuan had already drawn her Tang sword. Ye Mianmian raised her golf club.

Clack—

The door opened from the inside. Zhang Kaiyang emerged fully armed, holding a kitchen knife.

“What the hell? You’re bullying me right at my door? That’s too much!”

“Brother, just hand over your supplies and this’ll all be over. We won’t waste your time either.”

“You’re not even good-looking, and you’ve got quite the imagination. Why should I give you my stuff?”

“If you’re gonna talk like that, then don’t blame us for being rude—”

“Try me.”

Zhang Kaiyang waved his kitchen knife fiercely—his determined stance was surprisingly intimidating.

But the thug wasn’t scared. He swung his hammer and charged forward.

At this rate, Zhang Kaiyang would be at a disadvantage. These two were clearly trouble.

If they weren’t dealt with now, they’d be a headache later.

“Little Spot!”

Song Yi called out.

The dog darted forward and bit the man’s thigh.

“Ahhh!”

The man screamed like a slaughtered pig. He swung his hammer, but Little Spot nimbly dodged.

Others wanted to rush forward, but the dog growled threateningly—nobody dared move.

The hallway was narrow, and with so many people, it was cramped.

“Sun Yian! This is your doing again, isn’t it? Come out and stop hiding like a turtle!”

Jiang Yuan shouted. Everyone’s attention turned to her.

Following her words, people began searching for Sun Yian.

The so-called “top lawyer” was now fully exposed to everyone.

“Jiang Yuan, I know you’re with them. But this is a special time—we all need to work together and get through this.

You guys already grabbed a bunch of supplies. People saw you carrying them upstairs.”

Clearly, this guy was stirring the pot on purpose.

First, he painted the three of them as a faction, making them the enemy of the group.

Then he brought up the issue of supplies. Some people were already getting jealous…
