Chapter 57 – Finding a Way to Survive
Half an hour later, the entire space had undergone a dramatic transformation.
There were now five large rooms—four bedrooms, one living room, and outside, a kitchen and a bathroom.
All the basic furniture inside was fully equipped. With running water and electricity, it could now fully support basic living needs.
Some of the smaller details weren’t upgraded, but Jiang Yuan felt they weren’t highly useful anyway.
Even items from their home could now be brought in and used, so she hadn’t wasted any opportunities. Instead, she fully upgraded the wardrobes inside the space.
The furniture looked like it was custom-made, making perfect use of every bit of space.
She took advantage of the time to water the vegetables inside the space.
With a mild climate here, the vegetables were growing fast and tender.
The front yard was about 300 square meters, and the backyard about 200.
Not huge—especially for someone who needed to grow food—but it was more than enough for now.
The space still held a lot of items, in a messy pile, and she needed to find time to organize it all.
Jiang Yuan was feeling happy. When she came out of the bathroom, Xiao Nuan was still sleeping soundly.
Since it was cold, they had plugged in an electric heater, placed right next to the bed.
Though not as warm as underfloor heating, it worked decently well, and they had a decent backup power supply.
The heater used a lot of electricity, so they only used it at night.
Jiang Zhizhi and Qin Yue didn’t use it in their room—they had only placed one for Jiang Yuan and Xiao Nuan.
Currently, she couldn’t expand the farmland in the space anymore, but other items were still upgradable.
Right now, the most lacking resource was “Earth”.
She had a bold idea: after she finished all the current upgrades, would it trigger a new round of upgrades?
After all, in the novels she read, these spaces always ended up being infinitely expandable.
That’s why she had to stockpile as many resources as possible.
Another issue was time—she needed to keep increasing it. Money was rapidly losing value.
Eventually, paper currency might disappear altogether. At that point, collecting money would become even harder.
Thinking about this, Jiang Yuan tossed and turned, unable to sleep.
She had over 600 hours on her timer. It seemed like a lot—but it wouldn’t last forever.
She would lose time every time she entered the space. And when her life really depended on it, it might be a matter of weeks, not just days.
What should she do?
So frustrating!
Maybe it was the exhaustion from the past two days, or maybe she had just been overthinking—by the second half of the night, she finally fell into a deep sleep.
Her dreams were full of Xiao Nuan’s death from her previous life, and scenes of her own abuse at the hands of that group of scumbags.
“Ah!”
Jiang Yuan sat up with a jolt, breathing heavily. A cold sweat had soaked her body.
She turned her head and saw her daughter sleeping peacefully beside her.
Thank god—it was just a dream.
With that thought, she got up, grabbed some clean and warm clothes, and changed. Then she put on three layers of padded sleepwear.
It was 5 a.m. The outside was still pitch black. She turned on the flashlight on her phone and quietly slipped into the bathroom.
It doesn’t matter—since she was given a second chance, she had to hold on to it.
She didn’t have many advantages: she’d simply been reborn and managed to hoard a lot of supplies.
And she’d accidentally obtained this space.
But she herself wasn’t very capable. Whether or not she could protect this space was still in question.
So, she couldn’t afford to be lazy anymore—she needed to act fast.
She didn’t yet have a concrete plan, but she knew she couldn’t afford to stand still.
She had brought a lot of clothes before. She didn’t need to enter the space—she could just use her mind to pull them out in batches.
Now that the space had a huge wardrobe, she could store all the clothes inside.
If there were any she didn’t need, she’d just sell them off—no time to waste.
Her wardrobe at home was also packed with clothes. Aside from daily wear, the rest were all hoarded and neatly stored in vacuum storage bags—completely stuffed.
The past few days had brought not only heavy rain, but also strong winds. She probably wouldn’t be able to go out for a while.
So, she decided to use the time at home to sort everything out.
Clothing took up a lot of space, so Jiang Yuan didn’t pull everything out at once. Otherwise, the room would have been overflowing.
Earlier, she’d bought quite a few full-length clothes racks, each with hangers.
Some of the items were still in bags—mostly inventory—and only a few had been unpacked but not hung up.
She had also brought a lot of fur coats. Jiang Yuan picked a few warm, thick, and practical styles in her size and stored them in the space’s wardrobe.
She also pulled out a few more to give to her mom the next day.
The weather was only going to get colder. Fur coats had excellent insulation.
She picked a few especially large ones to leave for her dad.
Even though the furs were all women’s styles, her dad wasn’t big, so they would definitely fit.
She also had a lot of parkas. She selected a few and left the rest on the clothes rack.
She didn’t dare bring too many out at once—just two racks’ worth.
Too much would raise suspicion.
She had brought a lot of clothes for Xiao Nuan too, but most were lightweight styles.
Before, she had purchased organizing bags, and now she used them to sort clothes by size and type, folded them neatly, and stacked them in the hanging wardrobe inside the space.
Then she used sticky notes to label each bag and stuck them to the outside.
The lighter clothes, along with the hangers, were placed in open space inside the dimension.
Jiang Yuan continued this mechanical sorting work—and before she knew it, it was already after 8 a.m., and she had freed up quite a bit of space.
“Sweetie, you’re up?”
Qin Yue had gotten up to cook. Hearing noise, she came over to check.
“Oh my goodness—why are there so many clothes?!”
The floor was already in total chaos.
There were two full racks of fur coats and parkas, along with some sleepwear.
There were also piles of other clothes on the ground—those were the ones she planned to sell.
“Mom, these are clothes I bought earlier. They’ve just been stacked away. I’m sorting them now and planning to sell the ones we don’t need.”
Qin Yue didn’t suspect anything. After all, most of Jiang Yuan’s room had always been managed by Jiang Yuan herself.
“Mom, these few pieces are for you, and these are for Dad.
This fur coat is super warm.”
“Oh wow—so much!”
Qin Yue held the clothes and stroked the fabric fondly. It was indeed very warm.
“Okay, you keep sorting—I’ll make breakfast. We’ll wake Xiao Nuan in a bit.”
“Alright…”
Once Qin Yue left, Jiang Yuan let out a sigh of relief—another close call.
She wheeled the two racks outside and placed them on the balcony.
No one else could get in—it was safe. She carried the rest of the clothes out too.
As for the packaging bags, she organized and grouped them all together.
Qin Yue had made millet porridge, stir-fried garlic bok choy, and served some pickled vegetables they had cooked before.
The four of them sat down and enjoyed a delicious breakfast—especially Xiao Nuan, who was absolutely delighted with the fresh vegetables.
Knock, knock, knock…
Suddenly, someone knocked on the door.
The four of them exchanged looks…
